As the chaos ensued in Kabanaska's Center, Harvard and his friends immediately booked it. As they heard the massive explosion made by Stolas, they instinctively knew what to do once they found out they were being tracked, a message that Zazel himself imposed after being used to such a hunt:
"I'll keep them busy"
The fact he was more than willing to take such a task, let alone for the sake of someone else, makes Harvard wonder what has Zazel been through to be used to this. Regardless, he'd make sure to give his thanks to the Devil once they got their answers. Guards were quickly catching on and gave chase to them once they noticed the distraction, nearly triggering them to try and bring the sun up early just to attack them before they reached the Bunker. With how the flames spread and the stars blinded, however, they would give the group just enough of a chance to reach their last spot. Applin was atop of Fenrir, allowing her to hit the ground and take in whatever energy such 'plants' had to be absorbed within the hound and go faster, whilst Solomon and Eustace awaited in the shadow of Fenrir to avoid being left behind. Harvard and Jormungan, meanwhile, took advantage of their anatomy, as the massive body by the World Eater would be used to make personalized air currents at the direction.
Such air, when using the jagged teeth and how they jut out, would let such air currents act as a personal express, on in which Harvard is able to fit through when he flies across, letting the winds push through and go after with each flap of his skeletal wings. Once they arrived, Harvard would retract such wings and return them as his ribcage, letting Jormungan pull open the hatch and have everyone enter inside. Commotion was raised as soon as they fell through into the pitch black, new territory that they don't know yet. Solomon and Harvard would set up a small light, a flame for each, as the voices grew.
"What's going on out there!?"
"Something's burning Kabanaska alive!"
"WHAT?! Are we being attacked!?"
"We're dealing with two kids and an army of... I don't even know what these things are. One's a robot, the other's a cat-"
"IDIOT! THAT'S THE GOETIA!! I'VE READ ABOUT THEM IN THE RESEARCH DEPARTMENT WHEN THAT CHILD TURNED INTO ONE OF THEM! WHY ARE DEMONS AFTER US!??!"
"Should we send the higher-ups??"
"They're too busy with their find. Just go! GO! KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR ANYONE TRYING TO GET IN!"
They were adapting. They were advancing. Loud footsteps that hammer across every direction in the cold below. The children knew they need to split up. Harvard would blindly rush ahead, with Eustace breaking off to follow suit, whilst Applin and Solomon went on different paths as soon as they reach the crossroads. Banging from the mallets and buzzing from the locusts on both ends would catch their attention quickly. The steps they took started to drift, moreso when Fenrir and Jormungan followed their respective child, a father with their daughter, and a serpent with their wisdom. As they broke off, Harvard can finally hear their voices again. He slows down. Eustace notices and tries to pull him along, but the Card Magician stays firm. It was telling he wasn't here to save. He was here to learn, to empathize those that stayed within such stainless steel walls. "You don't want to know what they want..." The Knight of Shadows began, confusing Harvard at first. "Being here and helping them is all they need to know they will be saved. Helped. You don't need to know their story. It would only end in the same manner."
"And how am I suppose to be the Hero if I can't know what they want? Shush for a second. Let me hear them." Harvard replied, almost offended Eustace wanted him to ignore their pleas.
"Because what they want... is what ALL of us want. We don't want to share the pain with the one who'll save us-"
"I know that. It's not a want. It's a need." The child's voice was stern, and eventually, Eustace would bend at the knee. There was no convincing a child who made up their mind, let alone one with such a selfless heart and soul. It almost gives him grief in knowing what he was trying to get into. Harvard concentrates on the voices once again, hearing them, as well as something else.
"When will they stop? When will they stop?? I want to sleep..."
"Those damned needles... They've been poking at my skin so much."
"How long until I get a chance to breathe? I need fresh air..."
"GET AWAY FROM MY CHILD, YOU SAVAGE!!!"
Such a scream pulled Harvard back, his body hitting into a chamber, a room. One in which a man screamed while sounds of torn flesh and broken bone were being made, before sounds of holsters and wire were used to hold it back. He couldn't see through the door, but he could take one of his eyes and peer through the crack. When he looked through, he saw a monster, a beast made up of cloth, with ball-like appendages. He saw a doctor with a sawblade impaled into his chest, his ribcage partially exposed, forced onto it out of retaliation. He could see a plushie-like head, the stuffing torn from the mouth area, as it screamed and begged, whilst several other doctors try to sew it back and restrain her. He pulled his eye away and backed off from the door, mortified by such brutality. They were treating her like a lab rat.
Footsteps came again, one that Eustace would push Harvard through the shadows to avoid, letting them both hide as they see a couple guards folk with their respective animal, some entering the chamber for back-up, while others were making their way to the Bunker's exit. They were clearly at the back of some sort of hospital or laboratory. Harvard kept looking alongside with Eustace as they descend. One of such doors was quick to have a label, one which the Card Magician took notice and immediately used a spell to cut the distance and enter inside without being detected. Eustace tried to follow suit, but would be stopped by a light.
A light that he recognized. A young man plastered on the walls in neon blue with dark silhouettes. "...My son..." The Knight mumbled. Like a moth, he followed the light, leaving the child in the dark.
