Chapter 514 - Chapter 514: Core of the Matter

The land was starting to grow a bit darker, the sun at its setting point, the orange hue stretching across the horizon. The two adults can see the children trying to catch their breath, the Vampiress giggling to herself as she'd show off her hammers, with the Biblical Sorcerer scolding another for making her take up such a dangerous magic style. "Kids..." Volvo commented, shaking his head as he'd see such youth be as mischievous and wild as he thought it was. Bronx gave a nod as the two made it around the side, ensuring they won't notice the fight.

"So... how does your magic work, anyway?" Bronx asked.

"Patience. Let it sit first before you rush in again." Volvo scolded, as he'd be quick to pull up and take apart the sleeves that hid such a style: Orbs implanted in his body, 5 in each arm. Each one held the appearance of an avian creature, from the smallest Crow to the large Vulture. Shapes and sizes of each bird are seen through the glistening orbs, as his energy lets his veins glow and channel through them, encompassing around his body like a drug. Bronx merely cocked his gun and got ready to fire when necessary, choosing to use the Contract Bullets in order to avoid further detection. The two remained at a standstill, with Bronx watching the cores slowly glowing and tracing around his hands, allowing his energy to shape it into talons. Such a core was from a Hawk, allowing him to slowly make a guess on what his style is, and conversely, if it is exactly what he was thinking.

Without any hesitation, the Gentle Giant approached and attacked first.

A Massive sweep downward to try and claw at his eyes, parried by the gun and using it to fire a point blank shot. While the bullet itself missed, the firing in question was what the Sniper wanted, using its loud sound at such close range to his ear in order to deafen him and let him follow up with a shoulder bash and heavy swing across the Giant's sides, pushing him into a wall so he can take aim and fire his gun, aiming right into his heart to guarantee a quick and painless kill. As he pulled the trigger, however, the Giant was just as quick in catching the bullet, even when he was disoriented. It didn't look natural when he caught it, as if his body went through rigor mortis, twitching and spasming in order to swat and hold the shot with his two fingers. Once Volvo's senses are back, he fires the bullet back, forcing Bronx to back away and keep his distance. Once again, the Giant lunged forward, though now shifts his stance in order to be less predictable than before. As Bronx tried to raise his guard, the Giant was able to grab ahold of the gun's barrel, pulling it close so he can land a quick stab through the man's neck, just shy from any vital veins that would take his life as well. When the wound was made, Volvo can feel it growing cold, somehow being deeper than what he inflicted. He pulled his hand away just in time before Bronx fired his shot.

BANG!!

The wound left behind became another barrel. Volvo was quick on setting up another core, The Crow. His legs began to be jittery, blitzing across the distance and aiming a lariat over the man's head. Bronx would simply fire his gun and push himself up, letting his legs catch the Giant's arm so he can get into his blind spot, firing right into his temple, watching the blood spray as the attack connected. As he tried to fire again and again, he watched as the head began to tilt by mere centimeters, letting the first bullet that hanged inside to catch and parry the shot, before letting the remaining shots fall down through the wound, landing a grisly headbutt against Bronx's skull and forced him to be off of his arm. Stunned, he'd watch as Volvo rushed in to take advantage at his weakened state, landing a punch against his stomach, followed by an uppercut, then a slash across his neck, finally a roundhouse kick to send the body flying through the alleyway, crashing into a wall far off. Even with such a wound planted, Bronx kept himself low, not wanting to change it into another gun just yet. He'd watch as the Giant approached, his presence looming, his shadow flowing down like water, his stance still held in order to prepare against the next shot.

Deep breaths, as Bronx stabilized his footing and got himself up, his head wobbling, his mind in a haze. Volvo tried to approach ahead and catch him during such a dizzying trance, but the Sniper was quick on shooting before he got too close, backing him off. "I see... You're using your own damages to push forward..." The Giant mumbled, seeing how he was fighting. Even though he was at the backfoot, he was able to react faster than the Giant. His senses were indirectly being more heightened the longer he went on with such injuries. Like a Soldier, he trudged on, only needing what was necessary to keep fighting and survive. He'd watch as the Sniper switched barrels, keeping himself on his guard, approaching slowly, a core being prepared. Once he activated it, however, Bronx took his shot, firing it once again through his side. At first, a miss, one that the Giant advanced fully and raised his arm to slam the gun down and aim for his own kill, until he heard the sound.

Tink!

Tink!

Tink!

BANG!!!

It wasn't aiming for him. It was aiming at the structure, bouncing the bullet off and hitting him in the back of his neck. His eyes widened as he'd began to go into the illusion, whilst Bronx rushed ahead and focused back, his resolve strengthened. An opening at long last.
