Chapter 429 - Chapter 429: The Dragon's Tale

After the match, the two were sent quickly onto a medicinal chamber; a lava stoned room where it channels the energy of the Earth through such pores and cracks to provide a healing heat across the body, allowing them to recover as much damage as possible, as well as burn away any toxins or viruses that entered into their system, including those at a cellular level. The two merely needed a few hours to rest themselves, but they elected instead to spend the night within the chamber. As Taro looked over at his new friend, he noticed that Adel hasn't changed his appearance. Sure, he was able to recover from his injuries and even regrow back the faces that were already spent, but he hasn't returned himself to normal.

As they recovered, the boys would go on to celebrate for Adel's Victory, as well as Harvard trying to sneak himself in to face off against the supposed Diamond Magic user. Even though it wasn't as climactic, it was still an entertaining watch. Harvard would showcase his magic in fooling his opponent, constantly setting up tricks upon tricks to serve as miniature shows to make the audience be as excited or laughing away, all the while the Diamond Man would try to close the gap and strike him at his vitals. The Child didn't even needed to summon a monster, as all it took was a simple Virus spell to weaken the diamonds and let the chains slip straight into the man's body, imprisoning him, stringing him up and forcing him to yield, a bow being taken as he hears such praise. Solomon would groan as he'd watch his friend have an opportunity to boast his victory, while Zazel and Stolas were more supportive, before being nudged by Shady to make Solomon do the same thing.

Come morning, the boys were quick to eat at a banquet, a mission being placed up top on one of the boards. As the children chowed down, the two descendants were quick on investigating the other dragons, seeing them being able to walk on their two feet once more. "The Lava Heart. Best artifact to have ever come across in my time venturing across this massive globe we have! A true sign of a Dragon's achievements!" A confident laugh out of Taro's voice, as he'd rub his stomach to showcase not only the stab was healed, but the venom secreting from his stomach and saliva are just as much eradicated. "So, how are the others? They doing well?"

"Waow, Waow! Got done with that Diamond guy you were talking about and are just feasting again! They're like little gremlins sometimes!" Tsukiya's cheeriness were exemplified when she hopped in place, giggling to herself, as she allowed Taro to walk with him. Even if the two were supposed to be enemies, she can't help but be happy at talking with such matters.

Envy would be left alone with Adel, as the sludge glanced over at the Serpent. "Okay. What's the catch?" Straight to the point, a bullet straight for one's heart. Envy already pieced together that with such a form remaining in place, as well as the sacrifice he had to make with the Serpent biting down on such vitals, that it would be egregiously steep.

Adel simply smiled as he held up nine fingers. "Nine months. All I have left now in this world."

"...You killed yourself for this??"

"I have already spent my life how I should spend it. I helped people, I fought amazing casters abroad, and I even got married! Even if the last was an arranged one, it feels so surreal I was able to achieve that. I already told my wife how my Magic works... and I think she would understand why I would use it in a fight to the near death." Adel's words, despite being aloof, also showed some clarity. His big smile was enough to let Envy know that he's satisfied. "I'm assuming you're gonna bring this up to the kids, right? I'd doubt they'd want to be left in the dark."

"...In all honesty, I'm not sure." Envy's voice was conflicted with such news, turning his head towards them, a confusion on Adel as he'd try to listen. "...The boys feel adamant about wanting to save us, yeah? If at any point they know that one of you guys are dying, I doubt they'd be comfortable with such knowledge."

"HAH! You're saying that because you haven't properly met them. Trust me, at least with one of them, they'll get it. The Crow told me about a war going off, and casualties are usually expected when it comes to such a war. Nobody truly gets away scott free with such blood on one's hands, enemies or otherwise."

"Still-"

"Still nothing. I understand your feelings. I truly do. Leaving one in the dark, however, would only make the situation worse. Strained, even. I'm pretty sure even they would bring it up to others had I told them first."

"And you're not doing that because?"

"My purpose is to help them in whatever was happening here. I could, but I'd rather focus on doing my part. Besides, I wouldn't want people to worry about me if they need something." His selflessness is as apparent as his selfishness, as he'd drop his smile and become more stern. He'd make his way out of the chambers and into the skeleton, hoping to feast just as much. He glanced back towards the living Tar as he'd put his thumb up. "For now, If I have to be someone's sword, I'll gladly do it. The only thing I want in life is to help someone, regardless of my own needs. Gives me more people to face and more improvements to make if I ever drop again."

Envy, sighing, would nod to the Serpent. "I'll try to break the news later on. Not now, though." A chuckle was made from Adel as he'd continued his path, having Envy be by himself. He'd look down at his own hands, wondering why he was given such a personal request. "... I really have to be blunt at his death, huh? I really hate having this type of responsibility..." He'd mumble to himself, as he'd follow suit, his eyes closed, as he pondered why he was fated with such a mission.
