Chapter 405 - Chapter 405: Cubism, Part 1

Meanwhile, Envy would be busy in flushing out as much of the wine left in his system, as Tsukiya was already set in summoning a Yokai to drink it away: an Oni. As it bit down and sipped such alcohol out of his system, the small hiccups may linger, but his mind would start to get sober. "Feelin' any better, Waow?" She'd ask, as she'd perch her head at the massive, crimson bowl that served to be its method of drinking.

"Ye- Hic! -Ah...A Little bit." Envy replied, his mind woozy as it became a gelatinous mass wobbling around before slapping itself on the side of the bowl, the sludge pouring down as if he was melting, his face stretched out as it sunk to the bottom. "She really Hic! Did a number on me with that damned Secondary Style... Gotta Hyuk! B-Be careful with that next time she comes over..." His words were slurred as the process took into effect, the Kitsune recognizing that, even if such alcohol leaves him, it already did too much damage to his mind. He wasn't going to fight properly for a while. With the odds stacked against her, she doesn't know what to do should they come over and finish the job. That was until she looked to her side and saw Rubix, a cheeky smile on her face, as a plan began to form.

As she'd set up a talisman to pull off such a plan, a shadow loomed above her. She would be quick on looking up, seeing the Vampiress standing in mid-air, Umbrella wide open, letting the air keep her afloat, as she'd spin it, a small rain of wine being made in order to blind the girl. Tsukia would merely toss a talisman instead, letting the wine damage and break it, a Tengu coming out from the piece of paper, as it used its leaf fans to scatter the rainfall. The Kitsune smirked as she kept her plan going, before noticing that Bathory smiled as well. Something was clearly wrong here. What exactly was her plan if it wasn't to bombard her with alcohol so she'd succumb to the same effects?

SHIKK!!!

A Stab, right through her chest, blood dribbling down the wound and coughing up such sinew that built up in her throat. It was cover. A cover to let Mawkin attack while her back was turned, letting him set up a blade out of straw to stab into her, its fragility enough to break afterwards, leaving the wound exposed and bleeding out of her. "Excellent, my beloved son. Both participants are now down, their last legs standing. I expected more out of you two, in all honesty, but at least your quick demise means the beginning of the end. My husband would never be more proud at us than now for ensuring his rite of passage has-" Her speech was cut as Tsukiya began to laugh. Even with such a severe wound, blood pouring down, she still laughed away, staring down at the Vampiress with a mischievous glint. Something was immediately wrong, causing Bathory to look around and see what attack or trick she left behind away from her vision, trying to see what plans she made.

That was until she saw Rubix, its eye staring down, a compartment opening, as the air parted.

BWAAAAAAAAH!!!

A beam of light off of one panel, a mass of stars in another, a set of chains to try and bind Bathory for a third. She immediately lifted her Umbrella to block the first two attacks and stepped away once the third snaked around, having her land on the ground as she watched Tsukiya effortlessly moved away from the battlefield, even with such a stab at her chest. "How.... How did you caught its attention? It has the wind as protection, doesn't it? What made you able to bypass-" Her words were interrupted once more as a shadow now loomed over the Vampiress, causing Mawkin to run and push her out of the way. A Massive giant that stomped down, its body built like a sumo wrestler, a singular eye and a wide maw as it prepares to attack with its massive hands.

Daidara-Botchi

"Like it? He tends to be a bit of a nuisance when it comes to touching things. Had to keep him away from mountains whenever he gets curious, Waow Waow! Not my fault he makes things heavier when he touches it!" Despite a small jab and a descriptor for what could be a pet in someone's eyes, Bathory's eyes widened once she got her hidden message.

"You made the air heavier... just through sheer contact." Her hypothesis would be proven correct as another attack was sent out, a segment opening to allow divine light to blast across the corner, the cube spinning itself in order to catch the Vampiress off guard and slash her arm off. She'd use her Umbrella to counter the strike, but such would carry its own consequence, as the seal would begin to glow and burn up into ash. A holy attack. She immediately pushed back and watched as the Cube floated freely, with Tsukiya and Envy now able to enter and rest atop of it. The Atmospheres would come back, forcing them to deal with Rubix before even attempting to assassinate the two. "What is a woman to do...?" She'd ask herself, as she watched from the holes as to how such attacks were being sent out.

It was collateral damage.

She could see the children facing against different beasts, more specifically with one of them, Solomon, flooding the area, the water coming out of the hole acting as a cannon, pressurizing and cutting through the forests, forcing her to dodge once more. "Mom... What are we going to-" Mawkin would ask, being interrupted by a simple raised hand from Bathory, as she keeps her eyes focused on them.

"To tell you the truth, I don't really know. This is the same situation we had with that Goetia, only now it is a barrier. A Shield. An armor. I doubt either of us are capable to really pierce those defenses, let alone deal with the children once they're done." She'd reply, bringing her son to a panic.

"S-SO ITS OVER!? WE'RE DONE!? WE'RE DEAD!? W-we need to retreat then! If we stay here any longer, we're through!"

"No. Not yet." Despite the odds stacked against her, her eyes now brimming with a deeper emotion, a hidden flame. "The fact we're still alive is an answer all by itself. We must push through at the very least. One is at death's door, the other is too drunk to see. The fact we're staying here and hoping to kill the beast, the fact we're even willing to face it, shows our resolve, my beloved."

"We are not leaving unless those boys come out. They WILL die by our hands."
