Chapter 4 - awakeners

The sun rose over the city of Veridune, casting its warm glow across the landscape. In the Viren household, Yukesh greeted his mother with a cheerful "Good morning, Mom," as he settled down at the kitchen table.

"Good morning, sweetheart," replied his mother, her voice a soothing melody. She was a woman of grace and elegance, her eyes shimmering like emeralds against her smooth, flawless skin. Her dark, silky hair cascaded down her back, adding to her enchanting aura. As a mother in her 30s, she exuded a comforting sense of wisdom and motherly charm.

Yukesh's thoughts shifted to his father. "Mom, where is Dad? I didn't see him yesterday either," he inquired, concern etched on his face.

"Oh, he left for some work," his mother explained. "Lately, there have been frequent occurrences of dungeons emerging, and the Department of Research and Science, along with the Department of Awakener and governmental agents, has decided to investigate the cause. There are uncertain variables within the dungeons causing fluctuations in the mystical energy they contain. Some high-ranking officials speculate it's due to an increase in mystical energy in the environment, but most of the data is kept top secret. I'm afraid I have limited information to share."

Yukesh nodded, absorbing the information. "That's already quite a lot to process. And you don't have to go, Mom?"

She chuckled warmly. "No, dear. I wouldn't bother. Unlike your father, I am not as enthusiastic about these matters."

Before he could inquire further, his mother changed the subject. "Anyways, Mary has already left. She's on a school trip," she informed him.

"Why am I being informed so late?" Yukesh teased, knowing his mother's occasional forgetfulness.

She playfully rolled her eyes. "I'm sorry, dear. I must have forgotten to tell you. But don't worry; I've taken care of everything for her."

"I'm not worried; I just wanted to wish her a good time," Yukesh assured her with a smile.

His mother beamed at him. "You've grown up so much; I can't believe you're looking out for your sister now," she teased, a hint of pride in her eyes.

He blushed slightly but decided to change the subject. "Anyway, I'm also leaving now."

"Take care, honey. Should I give you a goodbye kiss?" she offered, her love for him evident in her warm gesture.

"No need, Mom," he replied, trying to hide his embarrassment, but he appreciated the affection nonetheless.

As Yukesh stepped out onto Manina Road, he found himself engulfed in the vibrant life of the city. The streets were bustling with people, their energies intertwined with the mystical energy that permeated the air. Over time, humanity had adapted to this energy, leading to an increase in longevity even for non-awakeners, who could now live up to 120 years with ease.

Awakeners, on the other hand, held a special place in society. They possessed stages of awakening: E and D being low and C and B being middle A being high s and ss being high ranker and sss non human , with each progression becoming increasingly difficult. Only nine individuals in history had reached the stage beyond the sss, a realm known as non-human level. These few individuals were the most powerful beings, holding positions of authority and respect, such as the head of the Department of Awakener.

As Yukesh walked amidst the crowd, he pondered the allure of becoming an awakener. They were envied for their extraordinary strength, superhuman abilities, and rapid learning capabilities. It was no surprise that almost everyone aspired to be one. However, fate played a decisive role in this pursuit. Only one in ten thousand individuals possessed the mystical ability energy required to become an awakener. The majority of people had their bodies set with predetermined limits, making the attainment of mystical abilities an elusive dream.

For those destined to become awakeners, crystal balls played a crucial role. These were manifestations of energy formed within special monster bodies, and they granted awakeners enhanced abilities. The origin of these crystal balls remained a mystery, a phenomenon attributed to the dungeons that frequently appeared in the world.

Yukesh's musings came to a halt as he reached his destination - the prestigious Academy. It was a renowned institution known for nurturing talents
