Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Are we safe?

Jaydon remarked, "Why don't we go somewhere else? Something about this place is weird." "Why must we depart when we eventually locate a safe place with people who can keep us safe from those things out there?" Stacy stated, attempting to clarify his reasons for wanting them to go. "Is there a problem here?" a soldier asked as he approached them.

--"Tell me what the current state of affairs is outside!" Captain Kurt shouted

"Half of our soldiers have died on the battlefield as a result of the infections that have spread to city S and the capital. Sir, what shall we do right now?" remarked a soldier. "We have an urgent situation, sir. The infection has compromised the left wing. How do we proceed?" A soldier came in and yelled

"How long will it take them to reach us here?"

"Sir, in less than an hour, sir."

"Quickly gather your belongings, everyone. We're heading out now. Take only what is necessary and discard everything else."

After taking their possessions, the soldiers departed from the base. "Sir, where to?"

"City S'

"But, sir,"

"Go"

The troops make their way toward City S.

--' Is there a problem here?'

'No issue, just a typical argument between friends."

"Are you certain there are no problems here?"

"No worries, Mr. Soldier, Sir. These two are just having a little tiff, but it's nothing to worry about. You know what they say: an argument between friends is like a game of tug-of-war—it's a bit of a struggle, but it's all in good fun. Who needs reality TV when you have friends like these? LOL!... Haha, no, I'm sorry.

The soldier gave an awkward smile. "I see since there's no problem," the soldier said as he moved slowly away.

Stacy stares at me, wearing an extremely uncomfortable expression.

Megan noticed a soldier distributing food and exclaimed, "Food! I want to eat. Can we go get some, too?" Her companions followed her gaze and saw that the soldiers were giving food to the people.

"Shall we eat first and continue our conversation when full?" Sara suggested, and everyone agreed. Megan took Stacy to get some food from the soldier. As I turned to leave, I couldn't help but chuckle at how cute Megan was. Suddenly, I was pulled back with great force and fell onto something behind me. As I stood back up, I asked what was wrong, and Sara couldn't meet his gaze.

"Reality TV. It seems like you specialize in dad jokes," he told me. "Oh, and please go take a shower." I stepped back and questioned, "Do I smell that bad?" It's just been a few days since my last bath. I thought to myself. He glanced at me, chuckled, and approached Stacy and Megan. I sniffled myself as I stood there, wondering whether I smelled horrible, but I detected nothing. I sprinted after them to catch up.

But do I smell?

-- "We're almost there, sir."

"Soldier, do you see anything out there?"

The vehicle abruptly stops, and the captain shouts, "Are you crazy, soldier?"

"You must see this, sir."

"Ho..ly Shit," said the Captain as he slowly took off his glasses
