Leng Yu Yan cried for a short while but left quickly, to avoid startling someone in the courtyard.
The courtyard was silent outside, but Ye Yiheng still heard some noise. When he came out to look, there was no one outside the door, only a damp patch on the ground under the tree.
Just as Ye Yiheng was about to look to the side of the enclosing wall, Ji Qingyu walked over.
"Ah Heng, is this the little courtyard you found?"
"Yes," Ye Yiheng nodded.
"Does she like it?" asked Ji Qingyu.
"She once mentioned she liked peaches," Ye Yiheng replied, "so I planted peach trees here. She should like it."
Ye Yiheng lifted his hand, and the group walked toward the courtyard.
As they crossed the threshold, Ji Qingyu glanced sideways and saw a flicker of Leng Yu Yan's skirt around a corner of a wall some distance away.
The skirt traced an arc, elegant and flowing.
Yet her steps were hurried, carrying a trace of sadness.
