"Hm, that's right." Kiana propped up a hand under her chin as she nodded "It's pretty close by. And if we see a large ship on the air, we could just make a run for it towards the Academy."
"Are you serious?"
The silver-haired boy shot her a stare with half-lidded eyes.
…
She seems oddly confident. Wasn't she wary and cautious previously? What's with the sudden change in attitude?
Or does this white-haired girl think that, if they ever are in danger, Mei will go Herrscher mode and annihilate all enemies?
Actually, the depressed girl might just do that. With the help of Dr. Mei, he devoured the Will that controlled her. So as long as she held firm in determination….There won't be any problem, probably.
…
"Hey, I just don't think that we'll die."
Kiana shrugged nonchalantly.
A (self-proclaimed) Savior, a Kaslana and Scariac girl, a Herrscher, and a weird man with weird powers.
With such a stacked team, it'd be humiliating if any of them were to die here
Sure, zombie apocalypses are dangerous and unpredictable, but they are a little overleveled for this.
-Especially with the main danger-the Herrscher- out.
"Worst case scenario, you'll carry Mei, and I'll carry Kyuusyou, so that they won't slow us down."
She briefly looked at the purple-haired girl, and then instantly withdrew and gazed at the red lines in the sky.
It's obvious by her words and expression that Kiana noticed Mei's strange yet attached behavior towards him.
"...Or if we are swarmed by honkai beasts, we could use a flare."
Seeing three pairs of eyes still looking at her with disbelief and distrust at her words, Kiana sighed.
She is the muscle of the team. Why can't they trust her a bit more?
"Might not be the best idea, though. But hey, it's the best plan if you're that bored." She held her cheek, rolling her blue eyes at Kyuusyou's struggling expression. "Though I'm still confident in ourselves to at least survive until the ship notices us and sends reinforcements to help."
….
Kyuusyou is the one who suggested they get out of this safe space, and Adam is the one who pointed at a certain place. Kiana herself is bored now….Normally, she'll just deal with it, but now that two people spoke up, she'll obviously try to make their trip safer.
After her mother died and her father left her, she has been wandering around the world. That has given her plenty of experience and also told her that, in dangerous situations, letting emotions overcome reason is not a wise choice.
It'd be the same now. Boredom is nothing in the face of survival. But again, with Mei by their side, the danger they'll encounter after going out is manageable.
Since they'll most likely survive, she has no objections. On the contrary, the white-haired girl herself also wants to stretch her legs and relax in this boring and tense environment.
…
"Sounds good to me."
Adam spoke up first out of the rest of them, shrugging in nonchalance.
"What about you?" He turned to look at Mei, a bit concerned. "How do you feel about this?"
The purple-haired girl's face didn't change at his question. Her gaze remained blank, yet fixed on him.
That's right- this Herrscher's gaze has remained on him this whole time.
'There's a joke to be made about yanderes here….'
Her gaze is very weird. Adam has never been looked at like that before. It almost reminded him of some yandere gifs from his previous life…..
"Okay."
As Mei nodded in agreement, the silver-haired boy's thoughts had already wandered to…elsewhere.
"Yay!"
He snapped back to focus as Kyuusyou pumped her fist in the air.
"Let's go, guys!" She smiled cheerfully, eyes full of excitement. "Playtime is waiting for this Saviorrrrr~!"
…
..
.
Since they all agreed to leave the Academy's high ground and have fun, they wasted no time.
In a few minutes time, they had crossed over a dozen kilometers of distance, and reached the Ferris wheel.
Mid-journey, they were swarmed by honkai zombies, so Kiana had to carry Kyuusyou, and Adam had to carry Mei.
…
..
.
"Ferris wheel huh….I don't think I have ever ridden one."
Kiana leaned forward, her hand behind her back as she gazed upwards. Her blue eyes reflected the tall red and gold Ferris wheel.
"How is it?" She straightened her body, head turning towards the silver-haired boy who had put a hand on the white Axle with closed eyes. "Will it work?"
At her words, Adam opened his eyes and gazed towards the Kaslana girl.
"Don't worry." He nodded, patting the white pillar once before letting it go. "Surprisingly, there's no structural damage. It just lacks electricity- and I've already filled it with enough power for 10 rides."
Because of Mei's 'EMP', some infrastructure short-circuited- and this Ferris wheel is no exception. But fortunately, no honkai beast decided to attack this place, so beyond its lack of a proper power source, it's intact.
Of course, for Adam, who has the power of Reason and has experienced his girlfriend's ability to manipulate Electromagnetism, it's no problem to make changes to this structure so it can directly be powered up through raw electricity.
"That's nice, but…."
Even though it should have been a good thing, Kiana pursed her lips, her eyes glancing at the dark purple-haired chuuni girl.
Kyuusyou was trembling as she stared up at the Ferris wheel. Her face was pale, and her fists were clenched.
"Is she…?"
As he saw the (definitely) fearful girl, Adam's eyebrows twitched.
"!!!"
Sensing the two's piercing gazes, Kyuusyou sprang up, flinching as she tried to control her expression.
"I-I'm not afraid of h-heights!!"
Stuttering out, her legs trembled as she brought both of her hands to cover her face.
…
This chuuni girl is trying her best to hide the fear that suddenly arose within her the moment she gazed up at the Ferris wheel….Yet 'her best' is far from enough.
Kyuusyou herself was very, very puzzled. When she was on the rooftop of the Academy, she felt no fear whatsoever.
But now, seeing this huge Ferris wheel and imagining herself sitting in one of those pods and spinning around…
…
"Eek-!"
Kyuusyou bent over in the air, squealing like a little girl. The thought alone made her heart skip a beat!
"Didn't you also agree to come here for fun?"
The silver-haired boy put his hands on his hip, exasperation coloring his face as the Savior herself acted like a frightened little animal that had just seen a predator.
"Erm…"
The dark purple-haired girl opened her mouth, wanting to protest, but Kiana beat her to it-
"Maybe she only fears heights when she's moving at high speeds." The Kaslana's blue eyes turned to the Ferris wheel. "Or perhaps…She just fears very high heights."
She shrugged and walked forward with a skip in her step.
"Come on, fellow survivors." Kiana waved her hand at them from behind. "Since we're already here, it'd be a waste not to ride this wheel."
"She's right."
Adam meaningfully looked at Kyuusyou, who was watching Kiana enter the nearest pod with pursed lips.
His words didn't cause a reaction out of her. She just continued to stare.
"Haah…" With a sigh, the guy not belonging to this era turned to the ever-silent Mei. "What about you? Do you want to come up with Kiana and me?"
"Uhm…."
The purple-haired Herrscher's brows furrowed, hesitating. She looked between him, Kyuusyou, and the already entered Kiana.
"No…"
In the end, Mei shook her head.
"Oh…" Adam was a bit disappointed, but he still nodded in understanding. "Alright then, please protect Kyuusyou in the meantime."
With a nod from the Thunder controller, the silver-haired boy also turned around and walked away.
"H-heights w-won't defeat t-this Savior…"
The chuuni Savior was still muttering with stutters, her legs frozen in place as she was left behind.
Well, not exactly. She had Mei, the Herrscher, to accompany her, didn't she?
…
..
.
Looking at the gradually distancing ground, Adam felt…strange.
Right here, in this hellish world of GGZ, he still has time for leisure. Isn't that ridiculous?
Amidst his conflicted thoughts, the pod continued to drag them upward.
Slowly enough that they could feel every meter gained, and enjoy the slow ascent of themselves.
The Ferris wheel's glass isn't perfectly clear. Dust clung to the corners, thin scratches ran across the surface, and the red-stained sky outside filtered through it all in uneven streaks.
It broke the sunlight apart, scattering it into soft, diluted fragments that drifted across the small space.
The gradually receding sunlight mixed with the honkai deadspot, taking on a reddish hue and falling upon the girl opposite of him.
Kiana… didn't sit properly.
Instead of settling back like a normal person, she leaned sideways into the window, one knee bent against the seat, shoulder tilted forward just enough that the light caught along the line of her neck and cheek.
The light shone on her pure white hair styled into a ponytail, staining it with a reddish hue that fit her quite well.
Her brilliant blue eyes lowered, staring at the ruined city below
"What are you thinking?"
