Chapter 285: Recommendation Votes

Tn: I'm changing the name of Qi Han restaurant name from Small Shop to Han Shi.

As he watched the chopsticks extending toward him, Keke instinctively opened his mouth and bit down on the strands of fish.

He stared blankly at Qin Yue for a long moment before hurriedly lowering his head, mechanically chewing the squirrel-shaped mandarin fish in his mouth.

He didn't even notice the taste of the dish; all he could feel was his heart pounding rapidly.

Beside him, Qin Yao glanced at the chopped pepper fish head in front of her and silently put down her chopsticks.

For some reason, she suddenly felt full...

The seven of them were all long-time employees of Han Shi, so they quickly finished their work meals and cleaned up their dishes.

"Boss, what's our job?"

After putting away the dishes, Qin Yao curiously asked.

After a brief moment of contemplation, Qi Han quickly came up with an idea.

He first looked at Qin Yao. "Qin Yao, you'll help Ying Shuang organize the takeout orders. During the food festival, takeout orders should skyrocket."

"Takeout?" Qin Yao blinked.

She had heard about the takeout business in Shrek City, but she didn't know much about it.

Could she handle this job?

For a moment, Qin Yao felt a little uncertain.

"Don't worry, it's really simple. Watch me do it once or twice, and you'll definitely get the hang of it." Ying Shuang's eyes lit up the moment she heard Qi Han's arrangement, and she grinned at Qin Yao.

Finally!

Finally, someone was going to share the workload!

Sorting orders and packing meal boxes was just as demanding as delivering food. The delivery riders had helmets that automatically planned the best routes, requiring little thought, but once the order processing got busy, it was easy to become overwhelmed. It was quite exhausting.

Right now, Han Shi had two delivery workers, but Ying Shuang was the only one handling order processing, so the pressure on her was significant.

Qi Han's assignment wasn't random either. Because of Qin Yao's martial spirit, she had excellent memory and was unlikely to mix up orders. This job suited her well.

"Then I'll be counting on you!" Qin Yao smiled back at Ying Shuang, feeling a warmth in her heart.

The employees at Shrek City Han Shi were really easy to get along with.

After settling Qin Yao's task, Qi Han turned to Qin Yue, hesitated for a moment, and then said, "Qin Yue… how about helping me in the kitchen with food preparation?"

Huh?

The four employees of Shrek City Han Shi all showed surprised expressions.

To them, Han Shi's kitchen had always been Qi Han's exclusive domain. During business hours, they avoided entering unless necessary, fearing they'd only get in the way.

But now, someone was actually being allowed to assist the boss in the kitchen? To help with the cooking?

In an instant, admiration filled their eyes as they looked at Qin Yue.

Qi Han, however, remained calm. Qin Yue wasn't skilled in cooking, but she had a natural talent for knife work.

By the time Qi Han had left Star Luo City Han Shi, Qin Yue had already reached a solid beginner level in knife skills. With her talent, after half a month, she must have made even more progress.

Though she couldn't handle complex dishes yet, she could certainly assist with basic food prep.

Hearing Qi Han's words, Qin Yue's eyes lit up, and she eagerly nodded.

Over the past two weeks, her knife skills had improved significantly!

She had been wondering how to showcase her progress in front of Qi Han and possibly get some pointers from him.

Running the shop in Star Luo City with her sister had sparked her interest in food preparation.

Now she could stay in the kitchen during business hours, not only helping out but also learning from the boss. She was absolutely thrilled with the arrangement.

After assigning tasks to the Qin sisters, Qi Han turned his gaze toward Keke, who stood anxiously at the side. He smiled slightly.

"Keke, your job is important too."

"Help me compile the recommendation vote data."

"Recommendation votes?"

At that moment, all seven of them looked completely puzzled.

What is this?

"This, right here, is one of the tickets."

Qi Han pulled a ticket from the nearby drawer and held it up for everyone to see. The paper material appeared to be of high quality, and under the light, a watermark unique to Han Shi was faintly visible.

At the center of the ticket was a red symbol. Its shape…

Looked somewhat like a thumbs-up gesture?

"The symbol on this ticket is a common hand sign from my hometown." As he spoke, Qi Han raised his other hand and made a thumbs-up gesture. "This action means 'great'—a way to show appreciation for something."

His hometown?

Everyone exchanged glances, nodding as they tried to understand.

"You've all noticed that our menu has grown beyond twenty dishes, but our wall space can only accommodate twenty menu plaques. For now, I've taken down the cheaper dishes' price boards, but what happens when we introduce new dishes?"

Seeing their thoughtful expressions, Qi Han smiled.

"So, I've decided to let the customers decide which dishes will be displayed on the wall each week. The menu plaques on the wall will be updated weekly, based on the number of recommendation votes each dish receives."

After his explanation, everyone seemed to catch on.

"Boss, you mean… like how customers vote for dishes during this food festival?" Fu Ya's eyes lit up. "The top twenty dishes with the most votes get displayed?"

"Exactly." Qi Han grinned, pleased with his own brilliant idea.

"Then… how do customers get these tickets?" Qin Yao pondered for a moment and raised another crucial question.

"Each customer who dines here will receive one recommendation vote per visit."

Qi Han had already thought this through and confidently provided an answer.

"But in that case, won't takeout customers be unable to vote?" Ping Xinyan, one of the delivery staff, quickly pointed out another issue.

Uh…

That did make Qi Han pause.

He hadn't considered takeout customers when designing this voting system.

Since they were ordering delivery, they obviously wouldn't want to visit the store just to cast a vote.

This was a new challenge.

"How about this…" Ji Yunruo thought for a moment before suggesting, "For every takeout order, we include a recommendation ticket and inform the customer about the voting rules. They don't have to vote every time, but as long as they use up their recommendation tickets within the same week, it should work, right?"

Ji Yunruo's suggestion made perfect sense. After a brief moment of consideration, Qi Han had to admit that it was a great idea.

"If they can't come in person, they could even have the delivery staff vote on their behalf?"

"Yes, that would work too!" Ji Yunruo nodded.

"Then… can tickets from this week be saved and used next week?" Keke blinked, quickly spotting a potential loophole.

"Absolutely not." Qi Han shook his head firmly.

If recommendation tickets could be stockpiled indefinitely, the whole system would become meaningless.

"Don't worry, I have a way to prevent that."

This was something he had thought about, and the solution was quite simple.

At the end of the voting period each week, any unused recommendation tickets would automatically be rendered invalid—disappearing into ashes.

It would be a bit tricky to execute, but for Ru Yi, it was definitely doable.
