Myst seems to be a bit better, though she still requires Kylan's support once in a while.
I, on the othe hand, have been stuck in my thoughts for a while. The words of those minions echo in my mind, and leave me wondering:
'Who could this master be?
Who and where were his kids?
Are they alive?'
Though a million thoughts kept moving through my mind at lightening speed, at the same time, I could not find the answer.
Which leaves me standing, in a black jeans and a brown short-sleeved shirt; with my arms crossed. Holden stands at my side, a bit too close for comfort, in the Central room.
My eyes are glued to Lugard's, who seemed to shift uncomfortably in his chair. From the corner of my eye, I could hear Myst take in a breath in anticipation. I don't miss the way Kylan's arms tighten visibly around her.
I sigh after a long moment, this is tiring.
"Speak." I say as calm as possible. Lugard's eyes shift between mine, before scanning the people around me.
Finally, he clears his throat, "he's coming." He says, voice low, and eyes downcast. Silence envelopes the room, "who?" I ask. Voice low, not calm... low. "The master, the one you asked to meet." Lugard says after some suffocating silence, locking eyes with me.
I don't know if I'm imagining it, but his eyes seemed to look at me with a strange emotion, one I couldn't name. It was almost like; he was aware of something I wasn't aware of. "Why is he coming here?" Jax's voice suddenly echoes in the room, startling Holden a bit. Who gives him a glare as he settles on my shoulder blade.
Lugard blinks, taken aback by the appearance of my spirit animal; but chooses to speak either way. "He... wants to see you." His voice is solemn now, and confusion sets in. "You? What does that mean?" Kylan asks, annoyance evident in his words.
I don't say anything more, I just stare at Lugard in silence.
"When is he coming?" Holden asks, noticing my silence. I don't admit it, but deep down; I'm grateful. Lugard looks between I and Myst, an action which puzzles me. "He'll be here soon."
Now, we are all silent, in the Central room; pacing. The tension in the room palpable as we await the arrival of the master.
***
I feel it before I sense it. The way the air shifts, like as though it is being bent to one's will.
To be more specific: the Master's.
Lugard is the first to jump out of his seat, back straight and eyes wide in fear.
Wow, the master must truly be scary for him to be this frightened... and probably powerful as well.
Lugard practically runs to the entrance, and Jax snickers at his panicked state, as we walk behind him. I shake my head at his behaviour, an involuntary small smile making its way to my face.
As we approach, the tension in the air only grows. Seconds later, the sound of a carriage is heard before it makes an appearance.
The door to the carriage is pulled open by a servant, and the moment his foot hits the ground, the air shifts entirely. Energy hits me, one I instantly recognize. It was linked to a memory of mine.
"Greetings everyone." He says. Voice deep, polite and familiar all at once. Holden stiffens beside me, but I don't pay much attention to this. As the only question which echoes in my mind is: where have I heard that voice before?
However, the moment I lock eyes with his ice blue cold ones; I just know.
I had heard his voice right before the death of my grandpa.
"Who are you?" Slips out of my mouth before I can help it.
