Chapter 1069 - Chapter 1069: A Perfect Score

At precisely 6 PM, inside the grand Shrine Auditorium, Wonder Woman 2 began its highly anticipated story, picking up right where last year's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice left off.

The prologue opens in the depths of an African jungle, where a team of explorers stumbles upon an ancient temple. Within the temple, they uncover a powerful artifact—the "God Killer Blade," a relic belonging to the ancient Themysciran clan known as the Scions.

As a photographer snaps a picture of the artifact, the screen transitions into a montage of news outlets worldwide reporting on this groundbreaking archaeological find.

For fans familiar with the DC Comics universe, the significance is immediately clear.

The God Killer Blade foreshadows the arrival of Wonder Woman's iconic nemesis, Cheetah.

The prologue concludes, and the film transitions to its opening credits.

The main plot begins with a United Nations hearing.

In the aftermath of the Superman-Batman showdown, the global community has become increasingly aware of the existential threat posed by metahumans and extraterrestrial beings. Under U.S. leadership, a "United Nations Special Crisis Management Committee" has been formed to address such threats.

With Superman dead and Batman retreating into the shadows, Wonder Woman steps forward, agreeing to represent the metahuman community at a public hearing. The primary topic: the control and custody of the Mother Boxes—immensely powerful artifacts capable of reshaping reality.

Diana explains the origins of the Mother Boxes and argues that Themyscira is the safest place to safeguard these artifacts, citing the crisis caused by Lex Luthor's earlier experiments. However, the representatives of various nations challenge her, demanding that humanity regain control over these dangerous items.

The hearing ends in deadlock, with tensions unresolved.

Following the meeting, Diana hands a newspaper clipping about the "God Killer Blade" to U.S. representative Bill Herman, urging him to recover the artifact before it becomes a threat. Bill invites Diana to a charity gala in Manhattan hosted by a wealthy businessman named Maxwell Lord, promising to discuss the matter further.

Maxwell Lord, a mid-tier villain in the DC Comics universe, is introduced here alongside his assistant, Barbara Minerva.

While the initial meeting between Diana, Maxwell, and Barbara appears cordial, Diana senses something unsettling about Maxwell's intense gaze. When Maxwell's nose begins to bleed, Diana discreetly points it out. As Maxwell excuses himself, Diana resumes her conversation with Bill, emphasizing the dangers posed by the God Killer Blade. She warns that, much like the Mother Boxes, humanity is not prepared to wield such power.

After Diana departs, Maxwell summons Bill for a private meeting. Under Maxwell's hypnotic gaze, Bill unwittingly reveals everything about the artifact and Diana's concerns.

It is then revealed that Maxwell possesses mind-control abilities, although his powers do not work on Diana. In fact, during their brief exchange, his attempt to control her resulted in a painful backlash.

Frustrated by his failure to influence Wonder Woman, Maxwell decides to pursue the artifact for himself. He tasks his fiercely loyal assistant, Barbara Minerva, with stealing the blade.

This leads to the film's first major action sequence: the museum heist.

Aware that Wonder Woman is closely monitoring the artifact, Barbara decides against a covert theft and opts for a full-scale assault. Leading a group of heavily armed mercenaries, she storms the Metropolitan Museum of Art, taking hostages to deter Diana from intervening.

In a breathtaking sequence, Diana deflects bullets with her bracelets and engages in hand-to-hand combat with the mercenaries, swiftly neutralizing them.

However, Barbara successfully retrieves the God Killer Blade.

At the climax of the battle, just as Diana is about to apprehend Barbara, the latter activates a remote detonator. With a smirk, she gives Diana a choice: save the hostages or seize the blade.

Without hesitation, Diana leaps into action, retrieving the bomb from the hostages.

With only three seconds left on the timer, Diana hurls the bomb skyward.

A massive explosion lights up the night sky over Metropolis, sending shockwaves rippling across the city.

The hostages are safe, but the blade is lost.

The story now splits into two parallel arcs.

In one, Maxwell studies the inscriptions on the blade, learning that it can summon the powers of an ancient Cheetah goddess through a blood ritual. However, the ritual requires the blood of a woman.

Reluctantly, Maxwell hands the blade to Barbara, who plunges it into her own chest under his hypnotic influence.

A surge of supernatural energy engulfs Barbara as the cursed spirit of the Cheetah goddess takes over her body. Her transformation begins—fur sprouts across her skin, her muscles ripple with newfound strength, and her senses heighten.

But the goddess' primal instincts soon take control, and Barbara attacks Maxwell in a fit of rage.

In a desperate bid for survival, Maxwell uses his mind-control powers to subdue her. Whether due to Barbara's lingering humanity or Maxwell's sheer willpower, the Cheetah relents.

Maxwell emerges shaken but triumphant. Now armed with a powerful ally, he sets his sights on his next target: Cyborg.

Meanwhile, Diana investigates the blade's disappearance, starting with Bill Herman. Suspecting him of betrayal, she uses the Lasso of Truth to interrogate him. However, Bill reveals that he has no memory of leaking any information—Maxwell's mind control left no trace.

Recognizing Bill's innocence, Diana listens as he provides a new lead: a government project involving a scientist named Silas Stone. Years earlier, Silas had used the power of a Mother Box to save his mortally wounded son, Victor, transforming him into the cybernetic hero Cyborg.

Following Silas' death during the Superman-Batman crisis, Victor went into hiding, fearing both government persecution and his own powers. But if Maxwell is targeting metahumans, Cyborg could be next.

Diana tracks Victor to a rundown Metropolis neighborhood, only to find him under attack by Barbara, now fully transformed into Cheetah.

This leads to the film's second major action set-piece: a nighttime battle in the rain-soaked streets of Metropolis.

Though Victor fights valiantly, he is no match for Cheetah's agility and savagery. Just as it seems he will fall, Wonder Woman intervenes, engaging Cheetah in a brutal showdown.

After a hard-fought battle, Diana forces Cheetah to retreat, but not before spotting a train ticket in her possession. The destination: Central City.

The final act brings all the threads together in a climactic showdown.

As Cheetah wreaks havoc in Central City, infecting civilians with a sonic roar that transforms them into her feral minions, Diana and Victor arrive to confront her.

But they are soon overwhelmed by the sheer number of enemies.

Enter Barry Allen, the Flash.

In a dazzling "speedster time" sequence reminiscent of X-Men's Quicksilver scenes, Barry uses his super-speed to incapacitate dozens of infected civilians in mere seconds. However, when he confronts Cheetah directly, she counters his speed with her own feral reflexes, leaving him injured.

Regrouping, the trio—Wonder Woman, Cyborg, and the Flash—formulate a strategy to neutralize Cheetah without harming her host body, Barbara.

In the ensuing 3v1 battle, the heroes manage to subdue Cheetah and exorcise the cursed spirit from Barbara.

Maxwell Lord is arrested, and the God Killer Blade is secured in Themyscira's vaults.

The film ends on a hopeful note as Victor suggests forming a permanent alliance of heroes. When Diana asks what they should call this group, he smiles and says, "The Justice League."

The credits roll, but the excitement isn't over.

In a mid-credits scene, the audience is taken to a shadowy corner of the cosmos. Onboard a massive alien warship, Steppenwolf kneels before a towering figure seated on a throne.

"Find the Mother Boxes," the ruler commands in a deep, menacing voice.

Darkseid has arrived.

As the lights came up in the Shrine Auditorium, the audience erupted into thunderous applause.

For the 2,000 fans in attendance, Wonder Woman 2 had delivered everything they could have hoped for: gripping action, compelling characters, and tantalizing hints of what's to come.

In the mingling that followed, Simon found himself at the center of attention, graciously accepting praise from industry peers, journalists, and fans alike.

"Simon, congratulations!" said Roger Ebert, shaking his hand warmly. "This is a masterpiece."

"Thank you, Roger. I'm honored you came all the way from Chicago to join us tonight."

"The honor is mine."

As Simon moved through the crowd, he overheard his daughter Elizabeth excitedly chatting with her friends.

"Dad, this movie was amazing! Can we get an early copy to watch it again?" she begged.

"No," Simon replied firmly.

"You're so stingy," she pouted before running off with her friends.

Elsewhere, Uma Thurman, who had delivered a standout performance as Cheetah, approached Simon with teary eyes.

"Mr. Westeros, thank you so much for giving me this opportunity," she said. "From 007: Spectre to this… I still can't believe it. I thought I'd be stuck as a third-rate actress forever."

"You earned it, Uma," Simon replied warmly. "Your talent deserves recognition. But, please, no tears. People will think I've upset you."

As the evening wound down, Simon turned his attention to Bob Wright, the newly appointed president of the NBC-Time Warner Group

. It didn't take long for Wright to reveal his true intentions.

"Simon," Wright began, "don't you think it's unfair that the Flash and Cyborg are relegated to supporting roles in this film? Their solo franchises have been on hold for years."

Simon's smile remained polite but firm. "Bob, as I've explained many times, we need to control the pacing of the DC Universe. Oversaturation risks alienating the audience, and we must ensure room for other genres to thrive. The industry's health depends on balance."

Wright nodded, though his expression suggested he wasn't entirely convinced.

As Simon moved on to greet other guests, he couldn't help but reflect on the delicate balancing act required to maintain DC's cinematic dominance. For now, at least, the evening had proven one thing: Wonder Woman 2 was yet another triumph.
