Chapter 850 - Chapter 848: I'm Just Fixing the Ground

The evil god avatar twitched at the words of the Land Emperor Tortoise. Even if his brain were filled with water, he wouldn't believe a single thing this seemingly naive giant tortoise was saying. It was like treating gods as fools.

"I want to leave here." The half-human, half-scorpion evil god said with a dark face as he stared at the giant tortoise before him.

"The Titans haven't arrived yet. You can't leave!" the Land Emperor Tortoise replied cheerfully.

"And why not?" The evil god avatar, whose humanoid form was partially covered in a carapace, was enraged. This was beyond insulting.

"Didn't you descend to fight a Titan? The Titan hasn't arrived yet, so why would you want to leave?" the tortoise asked, feigning confusion.

"Who said I descended to fight a Titan?" The god almost wanted to spit blood. Why on earth would he waste all this effort descending to fight a Titan? He was here to try and stop the battle from collapsing entirely, to slaughter the Synapse troops and give his followers more time to hold out.

Everyone knew by now that these damn Titans were treating the gods' avatars as training partners. The problem was, even knowing this, what could they do? These evil gods couldn't kill the Titans, and even if they could, it would lead to a disaster beyond imagination.

Even though he wanted to retract his divine power and consciousness from his avatar, swallow the humiliation, and take the loss, the evil god found himself facing a very awkward situation—he couldn't. His consciousness and power had been sealed within this avatar, unable to withdraw.

"Didn't you say you wouldn't interfere in the war? Why are you imprisoning my consciousness and preventing me from reclaiming my power?" the evil god avatar growled in anger, glaring at the Land Emperor Tortoise. This was too much!

"What? I have no idea what you're talking about. I'm just an honest tortoise, hard at work reinforcing the battlefield. Can't you see that? I'm preparing the best battlefield for you and the Titan to fight on. How can you accuse me like this? Don't you feel guilty?" The Land Emperor Tortoise, its head ridged with mountainous contours, gazed at the evil god with an innocent expression, as though it had no idea why the god was accusing it.

"Don't push it too far!" The evil god avatar was furious. Never in his life had he encountered such a shameless creature, spouting lies with a straight face. The tortoise's actions were blatantly favoring the Titans, yet it had the gall to claim it was merely reinforcing the ground.

"Hmm, I won't argue with you. The Titan is almost here," the tortoise responded, completely unfazed by the insults. It didn't matter—soon, a Titan would arrive to deal with the evil god, saving it the trouble.

"Boom!"

As soon as the Land Emperor Tortoise finished speaking, a rainbow-colored beam of light shot from the distance and struck the ground a hundred meters in front of the evil god avatar. From the beam emerged a Titan clad in battle armor and wielding a war halberd. He grinned, revealing white teeth, and looked at the evil god avatar with a friendly smile.

Muria had been waiting for this. Finally, another evil god avatar had descended, giving him a chance to stretch his limbs. But he needed to act fast, as his father was also present in Synapse.

Clang!

Without any unnecessary words, Muria raised his halberd and brought it down in a powerful slash. As the Prison Halberd descended, the sky, previously cleared of clouds by the presence of the Land Emperor Tortoise, filled with lightning. Thunder roared around Muria, a manifestation of his power drawing on the nearby lightning elements.

If Muria didn't consciously restrain his strength, his true form would be surrounded by a swirling mass of lightning, a testament to the sheer destructive power he possessed. Without careful control, his presence alone would be a walking catastrophe.

Crackling!

Golden lightning coiled around the halberd as Muria swung it, and countless bolts of lightning from the sky followed, all targeting the evil god avatar. However, these lightning strikes were more for show—they wouldn't do much damage to the avatar.

The real threat was the halberd. Crafted from thirteen legendary metals and having absorbed even more as Muria's forces expanded, the Prison Halberd had grown even more powerful.

In terms of material composition, the halberd was already on par with the divine weapons created by gods with painstaking effort. In fact, most gods' weapons were made from inferior materials compared to Muria's.

While the halberd wasn't quite as potent as a true divine weapon due to the shallow nature of the rules inscribed on it, it was only a matter of time before it surpassed them. As Muria's power grew, so too would his weapon.

For now, it was more than enough. The halberd could easily tear through the body of any god's avatar. Anyone who wanted to fight Muria had better be prepared with a weapon of equal caliber, or they'd be cut to pieces.

The half-scorpion evil god avatar raised its pincers in a cross above its head, hoping to block the strike. The move was so foolish that it nearly made Muria laugh.

The halberd's blade sliced through the scorpion pincers like a hot knife through butter, then continued down to cleave the avatar's humanoid upper body in half. If not for its scorpion lower half, the entire avatar would have been split in two.

"What a sharp weapon!" Even as its head was split open, charred black from the lightning, the evil god avatar let out a strange sound. A barely perceptible domain began to spread out.

However, once it reached Muria, a faint golden glow appeared on his body, purifying the black mist that attempted to invade his form.

"Such a boring trick!" Muria sneered as he saw the black mist dissipate. He had seen this kind of tactic many times before, and none of them had worked on him.

"A Titan's body really is troublesome," the evil god avatar grumbled, seeing that its domain had no effect on Muria. But even as it spoke, the body that Muria had just cleaved was already healing.

"Hmm!" As the evil god prepared to take a step forward, it realized that its six scorpion legs, embedded in the ground from Muria's attack, were stuck. It couldn't move.

"You..." Just as the evil god was about to berate the tortoise standing nearby, a halberd flashed through the air, tracing an elegant golden arc, and severed its scorpion body from its humanoid upper half.

"Muria, you're having the Land Emperor Tortoise help you! Isn't this supposed to be a one-on-one fight?" By now, Muria's name was well known among the evil gods. The evil god didn't even bother trying to regenerate, shouting Muria's name in frustration, convinced the tortoise was aiding him.

"It is one-on-one!" Muria responded as he swung the halberd again, decapitating the evil god avatar. Talking was one thing, but he didn't plan on slowing down in the middle of battle.

"You're having the Land Emperor Tortoise interfere with my movements!"

"Don't slander me. I'm just repairing the ground! Your feet got stuck because you didn't pull them out in time. How is that my fault?" The Land Emperor Tortoise immediately defended itself. It was an honest and fair tortoise, dedicated to maintaining the battlefield. If the ground was damaged, it simply fixed it.

"Could you wait until I'm done fighting him before you start fixing the ground?" Muria, just about to kick the evil god's head into pieces, paused and politely asked the tortoise.

"Alright, I'll stop for now. Fight as you please," the tortoise replied with a chuckle, seeing that the evil god had already been chopped into three pieces. It agreed to hold off on repairs.

"I'll give you another chance. Fix your body and fight me with all the power of this avatar," Muria said generously to the severed head of the evil god.

"Fix it? Why bother!" The evil god scoffed, and its three severed parts began to grow and morph. Soon, the scorpion lower half became a giant scorpion, the humanoid upper half transformed into a towering giant, and the head stretched into a long-necked snake, each form exuding the power of a legendary peak.

"Interesting!" Muria grinned. It seemed the evil god had used some kind of secret technique to divide itself into three powerful bodies, but it certainly wouldn't last long.

"However, I can split myself too!" From within Muria's body, weapons hummed, and eight beams of divine light shot out, transforming into eight identical copies of Muria.

Under the stunned gaze of the evil god, nine Murias surrounded the three avatars and began to pummel them.
