Chapter 712 - Chapter 712: The Abandoned Infants

"If I were you, I would choose to pursue my lover who has lost her memories, rather than this so-called 'strangers upon meeting' act. Doesn't this make you feel awful? You've waited for eighteen hundred years, and when you finally meet, you dare to say you're just friends without even recognizing each other?" Muria looked at the old man, whose wounds were rapidly healing, and his face was full of disdain. He had long grown tired of such melodramatic plots.

"And even if I did recognize her, what difference would it make?" The old man, who had initially been angry after being punched, deflated like a punctured balloon when he saw Muria's discontented expression, a look of despondency appearing on his face.

"Reborn angels view their past life memories as someone else's story. It's hard for them to feel any emotional connection to those memories. Even if she understands the relationship we had in her past life, what good would it do? Would she even acknowledge that relationship? To her, I'm just a stranger now. Given that, it's better for us to go our separate ways."

"Why are you so stubborn? What is the essence of human relationships? You start as strangers, then acquaintances, and from there, depending on circumstances, you develop deeper connections."

Muria's face showed a look of exasperation. "If you're strangers, you can find a way to get to know her! Then use the methods you used before to win her over again. What's the big deal? What are you afraid of? Why are you backing down?"

"I've become like this; how could I possibly approach her?" The old man stood up with a bitter smile. His body was still full of powerful energy, but it was also deteriorating day by day. Unless he could break through again, which would only slow his aging, there was no way he could restore the vigor of his youth.

"That's easy too. If your lover has been reborn once, why don't you go through a rebirth yourself?" Muria suggested, a smile appearing on his face as starlight rose behind him, spreading towards the old man.

"Your Highness, you…" The Cardinal Archbishop's body began to glow with pure white, holy light, but it was quickly suppressed by the nebulous starlight. A chain resembling a river of stars appeared, wrapping tightly around the Archbishop and sealing his power.

Muria smirked as he effortlessly restrained the Archbishop, then grabbed one end of the chain and pulled, causing the old man to fall to the ground. Ignoring the Archbishop's status, Muria dragged him toward the Angel Rebirth Pool.

"Your Highness, I'm a Cardinal Archbishop! I've dedicated everything to the gods. What you're doing will incur the wrath of the deities!" As they reached the edge of the Rebirth Pool, the old man tried to protest, but Muria shot him a look that showed he was done with the act. The old man was a skilled actor, and his dramatics were starting to irritate Muria. Out of frustration, Muria kicked him hard, sending him flying into the pool and creating a huge splash.

"When you emerge from the Rebirth Pool, you'll be an angel. From now on, you'll serve under my fiancée. As for the rest, you don't need to worry about it."

As Asimeo fell into the water, the liquidized holy light within the pool, mixed with some special power, surged into his body. A large cocoon of light began to rapidly form around the aging priest.

"Splendid!" Muria retracted the nebula chain, and the Archbishop inside the cocoon remained motionless, as if he had lost the will to resist.

"What a hypocrite," Muria muttered disdainfully as he watched the cocoon grow larger. "He says no, but his body is honest enough. Are all the bishops in Obistos like this? The gods must be having a hard time with these people!"

"Now it's time to deal with the consequences this might bring." Muria glanced at the rapidly forming angelic cocoon, then quickly descended towards Synapse…

"Fei Yeti, it's been a while," Muria greeted as he activated a communication array upon returning to the Wind King's Castle. Using the channels he controlled, he contacted his future sister-in-law, Fei Yeti, the eight-winged seraph.

"Muria, little brother, it's been ten years, and you finally found time to call me?" As soon as the communication array was activated, a female seraph, who was sipping tea, appeared before Muria, as lifelike as if she were really there.

"Ahem, I've just been really busy lately," Muria replied with an awkward laugh. After some small talk with the seraph, Muria quickly got to the point. "Fei Yeti, I've run into a little problem recently, and I was hoping you could help resolve it through the Seraphim's channels."

"If you've caused trouble, you can deal with it yourself." Half of Ilves's body appeared in the communication array, his expression faintly tinged with irritation, making the image appear quite strange.

Seeing that his brother-in-law seemed about to cut off the communication, Muria quickly spoke up, "It's about Mikaela."

"Speak!"

"I just threw a Cardinal Archbishop of the Dawn Church into Mikaela's Angel Rebirth Pool."

Silence followed. Then Ilves's full figure appeared within the communication array, standing nearly face-to-face with Muria. "How powerful was that Archbishop?"

"Seventh rank of the Legend tier," Muria replied, unable to suppress a smirk as he thought of the old man's power. Once the old man realized what Muria intended, he offered only token resistance before going along with it. Otherwise, it wouldn't have been so easy for Muria to throw him into the Rebirth Pool. Even if Muria had forced him in, it would have been a simple matter for the Archbishop to escape with his strength.

"I see." Ilves nodded after hearing Muria's explanation. "I'll have my father speak with the Lord of Dawn."

"Everything's been taken care of." After Ilves hurriedly closed the communication array, Muria nodded in satisfaction.

From that day forward, the world lost a human Archbishop named Asimeo, but the Cloud City above Synapse gained a ten-winged angel named Asimeo, who followed closely behind a female angel named Pamela, like a loyal follower.

The cold wind howled, mingling with the cries of countless infants. The bright moonlight revealed a brutal scene: in the central clearing of a dilapidated village, countless tiny babies lay naked, crying in the freezing wind.

No matter how loudly the babies cried, no one emerged from the houses nearby, where light still glimmered through the windows. From those houses came faint sounds of weeping and lamentation, occasionally accompanied by the sound of slaps on flesh.

"What is this?" Suddenly, a black-haired, golden-eyed youth appeared on a cliff near the village, his eyes glowing in the dark, brighter and more mesmerizing than the stars above. As he approached the village, a gentle warmth spread from him, driving away the cold in the air and soothing the crying infants.

"What happened to these children?" Muria, who had just arrived on this new continent, followed the sounds of crying into the run-down village. There, he found over thirty babies shivering in the cold, completely naked. Muria could see their features clearly—each baby was covered in a layer of fluffy white fur, and small fangs protruded from their mouths. It was clear they were not human.

"Orc children!" Muria immediately identified the babies' race from their features, but this only made him more displeased. Even the most basic creatures wouldn't abandon their offspring.

But what was he seeing? In an orc village, a group of infants had been thrown into the cold wind with no protection from the elements. This wasn't just inhumane; it was against nature.

In his perception, eight of the thirty-five orc infants were losing body heat rapidly, their life forces dwindling. Without his intervention, they would soon die.

"Who are you? Get out of here, or I won't be polite!" At some point, the door of a dilapidated house creaked open, and a pale orc holding a huge wooden club glared at Muria, his face full of anger.

"Oh?" Muria's expression remained unchanged as he raised a finger…
