Ka-cha!
The entrance door leading to the Meeting Room assigned to Vivian and Caleb opened and 4 people stepped in.
The first one was one of the Red Cloaks assigned in this Branch Chapter Temple -- Gerda.
The second one was the Gray Cloak assigned in this Branch Chapter Temple -- Nils.
The third one was a man in his early 70s wearing a nobleman's clothing.
And the fourth one was a woman in her late 60s wearing an expensive-looking hunting attire.
Vivian and Caleb couldn't help but noticed that the two old people were walking at the center, while Gerda and Nils were one each side.
When Gerda and her group finally reached Vivian and Caleb, the man in his early 70s spoke first.
"It's a pleasure to finally met you, Sister Inquisitor Monad and Brother High Lieutenant Caleb. I am former High Brother Soren and may the God of Light always watch over you both," he said with a warm smile.
And to give more context, Soren was Gerda and Nils' father.
"I am former High Sister Fiora and may the God of Light always watch over you both," the woman in her late 60s said with a warm smile.
For more context, Fiora was Soren's younger sister, Gerda and Nils' aunt, and Tea's mother.
And since both Soren and Fiora are over 65 years old, they were already retired.
Vivian casually got up from her seat and then saluted.
"May the God of Light watch over you as well, Brother Soren, Sister Fiora."
Caleb got up from his seat and then saluted.
"May the God of Light watch over you as well, Brother Soren, Sister Fiora!"
Vivian placed a hand on her waist and smiled.
"So, what pleasure do we owe this great honor to receive a visit from such esteemed veterans such as yourselves?"
Soren made a mental note about Caleb and Vivian's hair colors, and also their accents, before focusing on Vivian.
"I have heard about what happened between you, and High Brother Nils and High Sister Gerda.
"As their father, I'm displeased. And as a Brother, I also understand the situation.
"But unfortunately, Sister Inquisitor Monad, you have violated several laws -- Physical Assault, Murder, Destruction of Public Property, Blackmail, Forgery, and other crimes that violate the DG International Laws. My family has already filed a complaint with the Temple of Priests Palace.
"And since the Baron's entire family will also surely retaliate for what you did to them, I suggest you and Brother High Lieutenant Caleb peacefully surrender and be placed under house arrest, while we wait for the Temple of Priests Palace's reply.
"Please know that we truly understand why both of you did what you did. However, we also hope that you extend us the same courtesy. In our case, we don't want to start a war here with the Baron and Baroness' family, and then risk the lives of everyone here."
Caleb glanced at Vivian, who raised an eyebrow.
"Let me get this straight:
"You and everyone here are choosing to obstruct an ongoing investigation of the Holy Crusade, where our goal is to save a missing Inquisitor and a Captain from the Infantry Division, and also catch the suspect who has murdered a High Lieutenant from the Infantry Division, because you're afraid of an Aristocratic Noble family?
"Is that right?"
A serious expression appeared on Soren's face.
"With all due respect, Sister Inquisitor, no one here fears the Aristocratic Noble families, we are simply doing what is right.
"Just like you, we also care about our missing Brothers and Sisters of the Holy Crusade. However, what about our Brothers and Sisters here, our families and friends here, and the rest of the townsfolk? Are their lives not important as well?
"What the both of you have done is nothing but unlawful. And continuing to leave you both to run amok will only cost more lives and unnecessary destruction."
Vivian stared at the palm of her gloved right hand.
I want to transform into a giant demon…
She formed a fist.
And finish all of them off with one fell swoop…
Vooom!
[Mana Fist].
[Power Fist].
Splash!
She suddenly turned into a blur and then delivered a punch to Soren's face. But the moment her skill connected to his face, his whole body transformed into a white-blue liquid and was moving a couple of feet away from her.
Another Lore Item…?
Seeing Soren's liquid transformation, everyone's eyes widened and immediately got into a fighting stance.
I'm going to break my shoes again…
[Enchant Lightning].
Vooo-pscht!
As she rushed forward, she felt the soles of her boots detaching, and then she decapitated Fiora with a palm strike.
Vooo-pscht!
Vooo-pscht!
Gerda and Nils had yet to react to Fiora's death when they too were decapitated.
Voooom!
As for Soren, he was still in the middle of transforming back into his human form when Vivian appeared in front of him.
Let's see if you can survive this...!
Cha-pscht!
She stabbed her [Mana Fist] imbued with [Enchant Lightning] on his half-water and half-flesh body, and then it burst into droplets of water and smoke. He wasn't even able to scream when he received True Death.
Naturally, the water transformation spell Soren did came from a Lore Item. Although it could block attacks, it had a severe downside: During its water transformation, the user's body becomes no different from normal water. Even when moving, it still moves like normal flowing water.
Tak, drip…
Vivian caught what looked like a gold necklace in mid-air. But because of her overwhelming Magic Force, the necklace immediately melted into liquid from her lightning and dripped to the floor.
She pulled back her hand and inspected the remaining liquid on her Mana Fist and then liquid metal on the floor.
The Class Crystal, or the Lore Item…?
It was the latter.
She then noticed the white-blue droplets that burst out of Soren's body and painting the surroundings, including Vivian's clothes, turning into blood red.
"Ugh...! Just great...!"
Fresh boots broken…
And fresh clothes soiled…
I seriously miss fighting as a demon…
In fact, it's the best way to fight…!
The human body is just sooooooo limited…!
She turned to Caleb and smiled.
"Looks like we're going to be very busy tonight, Brother High Lieutenant."
Caleb's gaze bounced between the corpses of Fiora, Gerda and Nils, and the bloodstains or whatever was left of Soren.
"I'll give you a choice, Brother.
"I can kill you right now and save you from this mess -- not True Death, of course.
"Or you can continue following me around. But if you follow me, trust me, it's going to be a bloodbath between the rest of the Town and me.
"So, which option do you choose?"
Caleb focused on Vivian.
"Even if you kill me, once they resurrect me, they can just use [Halo] on me."
Vivian's smile grew wider.
"You're not so stupid after all."
Pop, pop, pop…
She deactivated her [Mana Fist] and [Enchant Lightning] and then began stretching.
"You chose right, Brother. Don't tell anyone about this, but I'm going to be the next Light Saint and will be the strongest Light Saint. So as long as you stay loyal to me, I'll guarantee your safety no matter what."
Caleb's jaw dropped and he felt a cold chill run down his spine.
Hearing Vivian becoming the next Light Saint, he could more or less imagine it. After seeing all of the powerful people she has defeated, there was no doubt that her Physical and Magic Force were monstrously high.
Also, he has heard stories or rumors about the Light Saint elections from the older generation. According to them, the Light Saint elections was always a hectic and dangerous period, because that's when the secret or hidden god-like Brothers and Sisters would start to appear.
But what truly terrified him was the idea that there could be other secret or hidden god-like Brothers and Sisters that has her temperament. If there were really others who were just like her, he could only imagine how truly chaotic it would be.
Furthermore, even he, a member of one of the Golden Families, specifically the Wrath family, and has 4 Magic Arts, wasn't aware of all of the secrets in his family, only the elders knew it.
As a matter of fact, when it came to the upcoming Light Saint elections, the Light Faction that consisted the L'ux family, the Mystic family and the Wrath family, he has heard rumors that someone from their Faction who has 5 Magic Art Affinities will participate in the Light Saint Elections once the current Light Saint retires. However, he had no idea who it was, only the elders knew his/her identity.
And right now, he was wondering if it was Vivian. After all, she was someone whom he has never heard and met before, she suddenly showed up at Plano Town for the Feugo Festival, he could tell that Inquisitor Pen, a supporter of the Light Faction, was giving her preferential treatment despite all of her actions, she has monstrously high Physical and Magic Force, and just now, she admitted she was going to be the next Light Saint.
But despite all of that, for some reason, he couldn't help but think that this overbearing attitude of Vivian and her open disdain for non-Priests was more suited to the Judgment Faction, which was composed of the Fur'ia family, the Kri'ger family and the Votum family. Even up to this day, that Faction still looks down on Priests without the Light Affinity and would refer to them as "Lightless" in private as if they're still in the Light Wars era which happened around 1300-1400 A.M.
Vivian finally finished stretching.
"For now, just hide and stay alive until I crush every opposition."
She went towards the entrance door and then stopped as she was about to open it.
"Remember, at this moment, it's just you and me versus everyone."
Ka-cha!
Ku-chud.
She opened the door and then closed it behind her.
***
8:39 p.m.
Vivian was sitting in the middle of the main lobby of the public Temple of Priests building, where the public could come in and avail themselves of the services of the Temple.
The lights were on, but no one was around, just her. She ordered a small round table and a chair for her as she was enjoying a bottle of wine and a plate of chocolates. There was also a bell for her to call one of the non-Priest employees.
As for her clothes, they were still covered in blood stains, but she ordered two new pairs of boots. One was the one she was currently wearing, while the other she kept them nearby.
When are they coming…?
She took a sip from her glass of wine as she stared at the open main entrance door of the building.
Hmm…
Should I start collecting Lore Items…?
But there's too many issues…
How do I know if the Lore Item is cursed or not, like the one I saw at Plano Town…
Yes, it gives you power, but it also eats your lifespan…
What is even the point of that…?
Another issue is collecting the Lore Item that I specifically want…
First off, I don't have enough coins to afford one…
Yes, I can always steal one, but I don't want to be labeled as a thief…
That's just embarrassing…
Another issue is keeping them…
I don't like selling items, it's a hassle to find buyers…
And if I'm not going to sell them, I could keep them -- I don't like carrying around a lot of things with me…
But where can I keep them…?
At some vault or bank…?
How much will it cost…?
How safe it is…?
Well, I could always give them away…
But what would be the point of collecting Lore Items if I'm just going to end up giving them away anyway…?
Lend it to them…?
Another awkward issue is taking it back from them…
She let out a sigh.
"So annoy--..."
Her lips suddenly curled up into a smile.
***
Outside the main entrance of the building, a group of people carrying lights made out of Origin Crystals emerged from the thick fog.
In front of the group were 6 people.
The first one was Baron Vinzenz.
The second was Lord Knight Achim.
The third one was a man in his mid-80s with blue and gray hair. He was the former Baron, Victor.
The fourth one was a man in his late 80s with blue and gray hair wearing a blue-colored set of armor. He was the retired personal guard of Victor, Malte.
The fifth one was a burly man in his late 40s with brown hair. He was a representative from the Mercenary Guild named Ronald.
And the sixth one was a man in his early 50s with red hair. He was a representative from the Adventurer's Guild named Norbert.
Achim pulled out a scroll and opened it.
"In the name of the Iron Kingdom's Marquis Faction, the Royal Family of the Iron Kingdom, and the Royal Family of the Twin Kingdom, the Blauer'nebel family has declared Priestess Inquisitor Monad and Priest High Lieutenant Caleb as suspected criminals who have violated the sovereign rights of the good people of Blauer'nebel Town and several of the Demi-God International Laws!
"We hereby demand the Priests and Priestesses of the Blauer'nebel Town's Branch Chapter Temple to hand over the suspected criminals who shall be tried and tested fairly in accordance of the rule of law!"
Everyone's vision started to go blurry as if they were about to fall intointo a semi-trance.
Voooo-craag!
Vivian appeared in front of the Achim with [Halo] on her back, and a pair of [Dual Mana Whips] imbued with [Enchant Lightning] on her hands. And inside the building at the main lobby was a [Fire Golem] still manifesting.
[Explosive Leg].
Booom!
She delivered a front kick at Achim, who immediately turned into red mist.
While still battling the semi-charm state of [Halo], the "stronger" people managed to finally react, while the rest still had yet to realize that Achim got attacked and had died of True Death.
Wooom!
Vinzenz jumped away to create some distance as he tossed a Lore Item music box.
Wooom!
Victor also jumped away as he tossed a Lore Item pin cushion.
Voooom!
Matle charged over at Vivian with [Mana Shield] and [Enchant Poison] as he hurled at Class Magic spell called [Battle Cry], and he was biting a Lore Item pen between his teeth.
Ronald activated a Class Magic spell called [Steal].
And Norbert activated a Class Magic spell called [Whistle].
Too many things happened at Vivian:
Her Inquisitor Half-Mask vanished from her face.
She felt two spells land on her body, but felt no changes.
The Lore Item music box opened and then released a loud screeching sound that would make anyone have this strong urge to cover their ears.
And the Lore Item pin cushion transformed into 2 meters and began rolling towards Vivian.
Whaaa-rii-pscht, pscht, pscht…!
Whaaa-rii-pscht, pscht, pscht…!
[Power Dual Whips].
"Stay down!" she commanded and ignored everything as she swung her two 10ft long thorny whips made out of blue mana and imbued with Lightning around her.
Everyone who was caught by the whips was either torn into two and electrocuted, or was simply torn into two if they had [Lightning Body].
The Lore Item pin cushion exploded and Vivian felt like a thousand needles were prickling all over her skin.
Meanwhile, the Lore Item pen between Malte's teeth, the moment he coughed out blood after having half of his body shredded into two horizontally, a fountain of black, sticky and itchy ink came bursting out of his mouth and sprayed all over Vivian.
[Cleanse].
The green light cured the prickling sensation all over Vivian's skin. But for the black, sticky and itchy ink, although the itchiness vanished, because the black and sticky ink remained all over her body, the itchy sensation returned. Moreover, she was still half-blind.
Vooo-craaa-BRGH!
Vinzenz and Victor were about to do their next move when Vivian's Fire Golem finally arrived and slapped away Victor as it continued to search for opponents.
Vooo-craaa-BRGH!
Vooo-craaa-BRGH, BRGH, BRGH!
Vooo-craaa-BRGH, BAM!
Vivian deactivated her [Mana Dual Whips] and [Enchant Lightning] as she tried to scrub away the black, sticky and itchy ink from her eyes. Meanwhile, her Golem continued killing everyone nearby.
However, no matter how much she tried to scrub it away, she couldn't completely remove it.
"Sister, let me help you!" a familiar voice rang in her ears.
Vivian looked up and saw a blurry image of a silhouette wearing a full set of Crusader Armor.
It was Caleb.
He wiped out the black, sticky and itchy ink using the white cape of his Crusader
armor.
Once he was able to wipe out at least some of it and saw a glimpse of Vivian's face, he realized quickly that he would need oil and more cloth to completely remove it.
"Sister, I need to bring you over to the kitchen and use oil to remove all of that black substance on your eyes!"
Chud.
Without waiting for her reply, he carried her in his arms like a princess.
Vooo-BRAAAG!
And then rushed against a wall to directly head over to the kitchen. As for Vivian getting hurt, even Rainbow Steel metal couldn't penetrate her skin, so he doubted that a simple stone and wooden wall could do anything to her.
BRAAAG!
BRAAAG!
BRAAAG!
Caleb continued bulldozing over the walls with Vivian in his arms until they finally reached the kitchen.
Vooo-ooo-ooom!
In the blink of an eye, he placed Vivian down, searched for the oil until he found it, ripped out his cape, poured a healthy amount of oil on his cape, and then wiped Vivian's face.
Chud.
When most of the black, sticky and itchy ink was removed from Vivian's face, she grabbed one of his wrists.
"That's enough. Thank you, brother. I'll do it myself."
Caleb let go of the cape and then Vivian deactivated [Halo] as she wiped her face and neck.
That's when he also finally saw her full face.
In his head, he was sure he had never seen or met her before. He had been part of the Holy Crusade, specifically the Infantry Division, since he was 18 years old, and he was quite certain that he had never seen her or heard anyone describe her.
Riiip…!
Vivian got up and ripped away all of her clothes except for her bra and underwear.
"Give me more oil."
Vooom!
Caleb grabbed all of the bottles, jars and pots that had oils and brought them to her.
Vivian grabbed one of the jars, raised it above her head, and then poured it all over her body.
"Find 2 fresh cloths or towels and help me wipe my body."
Vooom!
Caleb turned into a blur and returned with a bundle of tablecloths and table napkins.
"Grabbed one of the tablecloths and wipe me," Vivian said as she grabbed a table napkin and wiped her body.
"Yes, Sister Inquisitor."
As Caleb was gently wiping Vivian's lower back and legs, she stopped and looked at him.
"Wipe harder!"
"A-Ah… yes…!" he said and then wiped harder.
After wiping away 99% of the black, sticky and liquid from her body and hair, they finally stopped.
"My Fire Golem is still outside. If you can find my Inquisitor Mask at the battle scene, bring it back to me.
"I'm going to take a quick bath at my room. Order someone to bring me a fresh set of clothes and Mana Potions, and leave them outside the room as usual. Only you are allowed to enter my room if you have my mask."
Caleb nodded.
"Yes, Sister Inquisitor."
