Khalan stormed out of the hotel after the waiter had told him his wife had dropped a message. He didn't even bother to ask how or when. He was engulfed with confusion and just wanted to get to his house at that moment. How was it that his wife had dropped a message? The citizens of Bellmare knew him and his family so well, otherwise, Khalan would have said there was a mistake. But the waiter couldn't have been mistaken – everyone knew Khalan's wife.
'Has she returned?' Khalan thought. He had a deeply creased brow as he walked hurriedly to his house. He adjusted his clothes quickly and frantically, looking at his shirt while twisting around to check if there were any lipstick or powder stains from the wild Ms. Stone. Khalan grabbed his shirt in his hand and pulled it up to his nose. He sniffed and was satisfied that he couldn't perceive Ms. Stone's perfume on his shirt. He could recall her distinctive scent and hoped that it wasn't oozing off his skin. His heart skipped a beat.
