You were awakened from your sleep all of a sudden.
You look around the room you're in, realizing that you're in your bedroom. It's nearly breaking dawn, and you were awakened by what happened years ago.
(Why?)
You decide not to give it much thought and start your day. Until around afternoon, you hear a knock on the front door of the house where you and Ajak live. You open the door and see that it's Maria's kid, Monica, standing.
"What's up, kid?" You greet Monica. You have grown fond of the kid since the first time Maria brought her to visit you and Ajak with Peggy, especially after the incident that killed Mar-Vell and Carol.
"Mom sent me to get you and Aunty Salma; we have an unexpected visitor."
"Aunty Salma is busy right now. How about I come with you first?"
"You look extra excited today," you notice the excitement in her and make the statement. As you follow her outside after you grab your key and a jacket, Monica exclaims.
"Aunty Carol is alive!"
——————————————
You followed Monica closely. Stepping into Maria's place, you turned around from the kitchen area, and you see that Maria and Carol are having a heart-to-heart.
"Now you come back all these years, and expect us to call you what? 'Verse?' Is that who you really are now?"
"I don't know…" Carol mumbled. To your eyes, she whispered like a lost sheep.
"Mom, Uncle Arex is here." Monica jumped in and ran towards Maria. You see Maria reach out her hand and hold her daughter close. You took a step and approached the mother, daughter, Carol, Nick Fury, and you can only assume a Skrull based on Wendy's past description to you and Ajak.
"It's you…" Carol whispered as she put her gaze on you. "I saw you in my pieces of memories…"
"Yes," you reply, "I see now why the Cosmo showed me that dream this morning."
"Your return has been foretold."
"I can't tell what memories I'm seeing are true," said Carol as she stood up from her seat and shook hands with you, "I was hoping to piece together what happened that morning, then I would know."
"But Maria said that you can help me piece all the memories together…"
You ignore Carol's comment and come to a stop in front of her. You reach out with your right hand, pause for a moment when you see Carol flinch away a bit. You see Carol turn her head to look at Maria, seeing an encouraging confirmation from her, then she touches her forehead with your finger.
You close your eyes and tap into the cosmic energy inside you. When you open your eyes, you find yourself in a pitch-dark environment. You can hear faint voices echoing around you, recognizing those as Peggy's, Wendy's, Carol's, Maria's, yours, Ajak's, and even Monica's voices. You see a shooting star fly past you, deciding to follow the star until it stops and phases past a raven-black wall.
You take a few seconds to inspect the wall in front of you. Whereas a few seconds ago, you heard faint voices of Carol's memories past, standing in front of this wall, you can hear those voices loud and clear. Knowing that Carol's memories were locked behind this wall by the Kree, you reach out with both of your hands in an attempt to see if you can break the wall down. After many failed attempts, you withdraw your consciousness and see that all sets of eyes are on you, eager to hear the result of your assessment.
"I'm unable to extract the memories; they got buried too deep in her mind by the Kree. We need Salma for this."
———————————————
Your mind raced a hundred miles through countless thoughts while leaning against the front door's frame, waiting outside at Maria's place. Until you heard the sound of footsteps approaching, as Ajak walked into your point of view. "I'm here."
"Carol's back," you said to Ajak before moving to the side to lead her in. "The Kree locked her memories on Earth away, and I tried to break the wall down but couldn't."
"She needs our help." Seeing that Ajak remained in silence, you said again, "she needs your help."
Ajak gave you a nod, and you followed behind her as you two returned inside. You saw Ajak being greeted with the same expression as Carol greeted you.
"You were in my memories too…"
"We all were," said Ajak after taking a look around the people in the room; all were a part of Carol's past. "Carol Danvers, you are missed by many."
"And you must be Talos." Ajak left that comment to Talos, ignoring the shocked expression on his face.
———————————————
"So... what's her power again?" You heard Fury whisper the question to you, his voice barely audible above the soft breeze washing through. Gathered in a tight-knit circle were the four of you - Fury, Talos, Maria, Monica, and yourself. Together, you bore witness to the poignant moment unfolding before your eyes. Carol's eyes reflected the same golden light as Ajak's. Until Carol's eyes returned to her normal pupils, she looked like a frightened lost sheep, pushing and rushing past the rest of you so she could get a breath of fresh evening air outside.
Carol looked back at you guys still standing on the porch, both of her fists starting to glow in frustration from regaining her true memories, until she willed them to release the energy.
"Everything that I knew was a lie," said Carol.
You and Ajak watched in silence as Talos tried to approach Carol and continue to reason with her.
"Now, you understand," you heard Talos say to Carol. It's like reliving what Wendy shared with you and Ajak when you three first met, instead of 6 years ago, and today, Wendy is no longer with all of you.
"What? What do I understand now?" Carol challenged back with a question.
"Yon-Rogg killed Mar-Vell. He killed her… 'cause she found out that she was on the wrong side of an unjust war," Talos answered.
"No. Your people are terrorists. They kill innocents. I saw the ruins on Torfa," Carol challenged again.
"Ruins that the Accusers are responsible for. My people lived as refugees on Torfa. Homeless, ever since we resisted Kree rule and they destroyed our planet."
The word "destroyed" caught your attention. You looked and fixed your gaze on Ajak, who also turned around to look at you at the same time.
(The Emergence?) You raised your eyebrows in silence and asked through your sphere connection. You acknowledged the subtle confirmation from Ajak. You then returned your attention back to Carol, Talos, and Maria, who moved closer to her best friend.
"You are Carol Danvers. You are the woman risking her life to do the right thing. My best friend who supported me as a mother and a pilot when no one else did. You are smart, and funny, and a huge pain in the ass. And you were the most powerful person I knew way before you could shoot fire from your fists," Maria said.
"You hear me? Do you hear me?" Maria asked again. Seeing the tears in Carol's eyes, Maria pulled Carol into her arms, holding her best friend close as she felt Carol's tears seep through the flight jacket she's wearing.
As the memories-restored Carol and Maria embraced each other in tears, the atmosphere seemed to hold its breath. You instinctively released your grip on Monica's shoulders, allowing her to move forward and join her mother and Carol in their heartwarming embrace.
"Healing and restoration," you replied with quiet confidence, recalling Fury was asking you the question a few minutes ago. "She's the only one capable of unlocking and bringing forth the restorative fragments of Carol's memories."
After the heartwarming reunion, you and Ajak stayed behind as you watched the rest of the party move back inside.
"Uncle Arex, Aunt Salma," Monica rushed back outside as you and Ajak were contemplating leaving quietly. She grabbed a hold of your and Ajak's wrists. You two were greeted by the wildest smile that you could see on Monica's face.
"Mom saw that you guys weren't in, so she sent me out to get you," Monica said. Seeing that you and Ajak were moving towards where the porch fence gate is, she asked, "Are you guys leaving?"
"Well, we have done what we came here to do," you answered Monica. Then you took a look at the light coming through from the house as the sun was setting down. Before you could say the next thing, Monica pulled you and Ajak to her side and then guided you two back into the room.
"Come on, I still have a lot of questions that I want to ask you!"
You and Ajak could never deny that excitement in Monica's tone. Ever since Carol and Maria brought her along with Peggy and Mar-Vell to meet with you two, you've liked that little rascal a lot. So you two followed her back in.
———————————————
"I know I don't deserve your trust."
You and Ajak stand close to each other, leaning against the room wall.
"But you were our only lead," said Talos as he stands around the dining table, addressing Carol. "We discovered that your energy signature matched Mar-Vell's core. Now we know why."
"If only you knew the importance of it to me." You stay silent as you continue to hear from Talos. You were there, and you know how important IT is for Talos. You look to your side, looking at Ajak, seeking to have her approval.
"I just need your help decoding the coordinates to Mar-Vell's lab." Before Talos and the rest of the party members continue, you interfere.
"Those weren't coordinates. They're state vectors." You see all the surprised eyes now on you, and Ajak's neutral expression seeing that you've stepped in to help. You answer Ajak's netural expression towards you through your connection sphere.
(We have to help; this is no longer just a conflict between the human race when Kree and Skrulls are involved. The Infinity Stone cannot fall into the hands of the Kree Accuser; only Celestial will know what they will do with it if they get their hands on it.)
Fury, who's eating the sandwich in his hand, mumbles while nodding in agreement to your statement. "Yes, it's for orbital position and velocity."
"You didn't find her lab on Earth because it's not on Earth," Maria continues after Fury.
"The coordinates were the location on the date of the crash six years ago. If we track its course, we'll find it in orbit right now," Carol finishes the sentence after Fury and Maria.
"It's just basic physics," Maria teases Talos, who later turns and looks at his comrades in disbelief.
"In orbit? Was that so difficult to figure out? I mean, you're my science guy, right?"
Seeing that Ajak did not verbally protest, you continue where you left off from your last sentence. "Peggy brought the core to us after the incident and asked us to hid it away. You will find the core in Mar-Vell's lab in her Kree Imperial cruiser."
Upon hearing your response, Carol takes a look around all the people in the room, then looks at Talos in front of her. "Yon-Rogg will catch up to me soon. We've got to get to the core before he does."
"Mmm. We're going to space?" Fury said after another mouthful of sandwich.
"In what?" Carol asked.
"You can use the Kree Shuttle ship Mar-Vell first crash-landed on Earth." You interject, "A good friend of mine and Salma helped fix the ship after the incident."
-----------------------------
"Well, I could use a copilot." Carol sits at the corner of the living room. While Maria and Monica sit on the other end of the sofa. While you and Ajak sit around the kitchen's bar counter. You watch Carol ask Maria to join her on this mission.
"No. No, I can't." Maria hesitates; she continues to explain, "I can't leave Monica."
"Mom, it's okay." Monica jumps in, "I can stay with Uncle Arex and Aunt Salma!" She waves towards you and Ajak. You smile upon that statement; you look at Ajak, and you can see the same smile on her face as well, knowing that she also welcomes the idea of having Monica over till both Carol and Maria return.
"There's no way I'm going, baby. It's too dangerous." Maria protests, not to the idea of letting you and Ajak take care of Monica. After all, you and Ajak pretty much watched Monica grow up from an infant baby.
"Testing brand-new aerospace tech is dangerous, and you used to do that." Monica points out with a smirk. You couldn't help but chuckle as well, knowing that what Monica just said is quite true. That was what Project Pegasus was about in the first place.
Out of speech by her own daughter, Maria turns her gaze back on Carol and asks.
"Your plan is to leave the atmosphere in a newly fixed alien spacecraft, and you anticipate hostile encounters with a technologically superior foreign enemy. Correct?" Maria asked.
"It's a Kree space shuttle, I know how to fly it. But yeah, that's pretty much it." Carol first corrects, then answers.
"That's what I'm saying. You have to go!" Monica reinforces, trying to encourage her mother to go on this mission.
"Monica!"
"You have a chance to fly the coolest mission in the history of missions, and you're gonna give it up to sit on the couch and watch Fresh Prince with me?" Monica pokes again at her own mother.
"What…?" Seeing Maria raised one eyebrow at Monica, you know that she is pretty much convinced to go on this mission with Carol.
"I just think you should consider what kind of example you're setting for your daughter." Monica adds in with a smile. You see that she looked at Carol who gave her a thumbs up. You see Monica looked at you; you couldn't help but also give her a thumbs up.
You watch Carol first board the shuttle. Then Maria and Fury, who is holding the Flerken in his arms, board the shuttle. You sense that Talos intentionally boarded last, knowing that it's likely that he has something that he wanted to say to you. You open your mouth before he can say anything.
"Go see for yourself."
You and Ajak stand behind Monica, watching together as the Kree space shuttle that carried Carol, Maria, Fury with Talos and Goose off to space.
"Come," you put your palm on Monica's shoulder and signal her to come back in, "I think it's time you show me and Aunt Salma what that Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is all about."
