Chapter 15 - Chapter 15 - Fatal Mistake

After hearing those words, I watched Harvey Brown and Lyla Lucas burst into laughter.

"Kid, you dare threaten me? Looks like Woods Walters didn't beat the fear into you last time," Harvey said coldly, his face twisted into a sneer.

It was obvious Harvey hadn't fully grasped my meaning.

I didn't bother explaining further and just smiled. "Harvey, I hope you don't regret this."

"Regret? Regret my ass!" Harvey cursed, his face flushing with anger.

I didn't waste another second talking to him and turned away.

The banquet offered countless delicious foods, most of which I had never seen before.

For weeks now, all I'd been eating were simple bowls of noodles.

So without caring about appearances, I attacked the food freely, savoring every bite.

"What a pathetic loser," Lyla whispered just loud enough to be heard, her eyes reflecting pure disgust as she watched me eat.

Just then, a young man approached Harvey's side.

This wasn't just any young man - he was Theo Williams, son of River City's wealthiest businessman, Carl Williams.

"Harvey, you're here too?" Theo greeted Harvey with a practiced smile.

Harvey glanced up and replied, "Mr. Theo, you're here as well."

Theo quipped, "Yeah, I showed up thick-skinned."

Harvey chuckled and said, "Mr. Theo, stop joking around—you're the son of River City's top magnate!"

Theo scoffed, "The Williams family is nothing compared to the Sean family."

Hearing those words, Lyla and Harvey's expressions shifted to unmistakable pride. After all, the Sean family had personally invited them to this banquet.

"Mr. Theo, I heard you attended the Sean family's banquet not long ago. So, how was it? Got any inside scoop for us?" Harvey asked, lowering his voice conspiratorially.

Theo didn't hesitate before responding, "Not exactly inside information, but I can tell you—it was hosted for the Sean family's princess. She's supposedly Jerry Sean's favorite granddaughter."

"A woman?" Harvey's brow furrowed slightly.

Theo nodded and continued, "And here's another bit—I heard Miss Sean plans to support a young talent here in River City."

"A young talent?" Harvey's eyes lit up instantly. "Who could it be?"

Theo shook his head. "No idea, he didn't show up at the banquet."

From nearby, Lyla chimed in excitedly, "Could it be us?"

Harvey seemed to find this possibility increasingly plausible after Lyla's comment.

In recent years, the Brown family had gained considerable influence throughout River City, largely thanks to Harvey's relentless efforts!

Plus, Lyla had mysteriously received an invitation from the Sean family—could that possibly be unrelated to the Brown family's rising status?

Besides, truly promising young talents in River City had been few and far between lately!

If it wasn't Theo, then Harvey stood a good chance!

As this possibility took root, Harvey's excitement visibly grew.

"Maybe it really is you," Theo said with a playful tone.

"Don't forget to give me a hand when the time comes," Theo added, clapping Harvey's shoulder.

Harvey eagerly thumped his chest and declared, "Don't worry—when the time comes, we'll team up and build something extraordinary!"

"This is great, my good days are finally here!" Lyla covered her mouth, overwhelmed with excitement.

Lyla felt increasingly grateful for the decisions she'd made.

If she had stayed with that loser Mason, wouldn't her life have been completely ruined?

"That bitch—just wait until I wipe the smirk off your face!" Harvey muttered, clearly recalling Mabel Sean's confident demeanor.

He had already begun imagining scenarios where he could humiliate Mabel!

"What's up? You look upset," Theo asked casually.

Harvey snorted and leaned closer to Theo's ear, whispering, "Just a stupid chick—she thinks she's hot and tried showing off to me."

"Oh?" Theo raised his eyebrows curiously. "Who is it?"

"No idea. If I weren't worried she came from Shiglance City, I'd have taught her a lesson already!" Harvey scoffed.

Theo laughed and said, "With the Sean family backing you, there's no need to worry about Shiglance City, is there?"

"True enough." Harvey's grin oozed arrogance.

"Compared to the Sean family, Shiglance City is nothing," Harvey added with a dismissive smile.

As they spoke, Harvey's gaze drifted across the room.

I stood with Mabel Sean beside me as she whispered something only I could hear.

Harvey's eyes darkened as he stared at Mabel's back.

"Mr. Theo, the woman I was talking about is her," Harvey said, pointing in our direction.

Hearing this, Theo followed Harvey's finger and looked over.

But when Theo got a clear view of Mabel, his expression transformed instantly—a bead of sweat trickled down his forehead as he straightened his posture!

"You... you're sure it's her?" Theo's voice cracked, his face draining of color.

"Of course!" Harvey replied casually, even joking, "Mr. Theo, don't tell me you're interested in her?"

"Interested in my ass! That's Miss Mabel Sean, the Sean family's eldest daughter! If you want to die, go ahead—don't drag me into this!" Theo snapped frantically, his voice rising in panic.
