CHAPTER START---

From the sidelines of the battle, the members of Grimoire Heart could barely understand what was happening.

The goat-man, Yomazu, holds his sword, ready to step in if needed, but quickly orders a retreat when the Black Hole Spell is unleashed.

Then he finds holding his sword steady growing more difficult when, before his very eyes, Oberon shatters that fearsome Spell with his bare hands. And like a cackling monster unleashed, Magic Energy that cleared any doubt of this boy being offered the position of Wizard Saint.

But what horrified him the most, was the thing he couldn't even see.

One moment, Bluenote is standing there, hands raised, looking across the battlefield at Oberon. And in the next, the entire oasis shakes, and Bluenote is hit with an uppercut that sends him through the three walls and levels of the oasis, high into the sky.

Rock, debris, and even water are launched after him, revealing how Oberon applied Gravity Magic to launch the man far away. But before Yomazu could comprehend the fact that Grimoire Heart's Ace was sent flying, Oberon instantly accelerates fast enough to shatter the sound barrier, almost deafening everyone on the ground level as he rockets after the man.

Yomazu sheathes his blade and turns to the battered Ultear, seeing that the girl is barely alive, and coldly issues a command. "Look into the future, I want to know if Bluenote will win."

The girl glares at him from behind her mask, but even as the medics are treating her, she activates Arc of Time on her own eyes. It takes a few seconds, all of which are punctuated with the sound of thunder in the overcast sky as Oberon batters Bluenote below the clouds.

Ultear's panicked sound pierces through all of it, worrying them even more.

"What is it?" Yomazu asks.

"We need to leave," She tries to get up, but her broken body sends an excruciating pain through her at each movement, forcing her to stay on the ground. "He'll kill him. That attack, it's too powerful. We'll all die!"

Yomazu looks to one of the men in charge of communication. "Contact the teleporters, we need to get out of here, now!"

As all of this is happening, Oberon is constantly flying about the sky, landing successive blows on Bluenote. Fighting below the clouds, Bluenote sees Oberon coming and launches a spinning kick, but since he cannot fly, his leverage is all gone.

At the last moment, he uses Gravity Magic to steady himself and boost his strikes, but Oberon is now also using it in the same way.

With Oberon's strikes at full power, and Bluenote weaker without leverage, the man finds himself losing every exchange. Oberon punches hard enough to send the man flying, then rockets after him, circling around to kick him in the side.

Each hit echoes like thunder, and Bluenote feels the damage quickly adding him. Oberon's laughter continues as he's having the time of his life, and with each successful clash, Bluenotes' strikes and counters become better.

"That's right! You can figure it out!" Oberon cheers the man on while constantly battering him above the desert. Using all of his Magics, including his High Speed and Great Power Magics, to increase his physical attributes, he takes a decisive lead in this battle, all while encouraging the man to grow stronger. "You can fly too!"

Bluenote fires a Gravity Maelstrom, which tears up the desert below, but Oberon deftly flies around the attack and spins, dropping his heel onto Bluenote's head. The hit disrupts the spell and spins the man, allowing Oberon to grab both his ankles and twist, spinning Bluenote around before tossing him up toward the overcast sky.

"Try harder!" Oberon screams, trying to encourage the man as he rockets directly up and plants both feet into the man's stomach, knocking the wind out of him and dispersing the surrounding clouds.

As he's hurtling toward the heavens, Bluenote's vision flickers while fading in and out of full consciousness. And here he realizes what most people who have seen Oberon fight already knew, what Gildarts quickly realized after training with the boy.

Oberon is powerful, a simple fact. But unlike most Mages, power is not the extent of what makes him dangerous. Regarding speed, strength, striking power, and durability, Bluenote, Gildarts, Makarov, and many others are ahead of the boy.

But his seamless application and blending of all his Magics, that makes him an entirely different fighter. To defeat Oberon, you must ideally be so much more powerful than him, so that you take him down in one decisive hit.

A feat that, almost all the well-known public Mages on Ishgar, only the likes of God Serena and Makarov Dreyar can accomplish without a sneak attack.

Or, you must be able to contend with his vast pool of Magic Energy and adapt to his many Magics, which again, only Makarov Dreyar and God Serena can do.

The gap between himself and Bluenote is not vast enough to easily crush the boy, and because he failed to do so, he was at the mercy of Oberon's other Magics, which make up for the gap in their direct combat ability.

For this reason, be it Gildarts Clive or Bluenote Stinger, they lack the direct power, adaptability, or vast arsenal to ever defeat the King of the Fairies.

By the time Bluenote realizes this, frost is rapidly forming across his body as he's high above Earthland, looking out at the curvature of the beautiful blue world below.

He sees the sun in the distance, and floating off in the distance in orbit around the world, he sees the pinnacle of the Magic Council of Ishgar's power.

A mile wide red and brown cube, the Satellite Square: Etherion.

'Is this how I die?' he wonders, willing his Gravity Magic to increase the planet's pull on himself. He feels immense pain wracking his body as the varying vectors of force threaten to tear him apart. 'Damn, is this really it?'

He looks out at the beautiful world and accepts his death with pride. To live by the sword, is to accept death by the sword. However, his opponent has no interest in killing such a fun sparring partner.

"What are you doing?!" Oberon's pissed-off voice calls out from above, and Bluenote barely turns his head in time to see the boy tackle him, sending them into a spinning descent back to Earthland. "You're suppose to learn to fly, are you giving up on me?!"

They enter the middle atmosphere, and Bluenote takes a deep breath, shaking away the frost as Oberon is kneeling on his chest. The child's body crouches to grab the man's head, forcing Bluenote to look into his eyes.

"You can still get stronger!" He yells to speak above the raging winds. "I'm finally having some fun and you want to stop! No way! Try harder!"

Oberon rears back his head and slams his forehead into Bluenote, drawing blood from the man and separating them to tumble through the air.

Bluenote rolls through the air, rocketing through the clouds like a meteor and dispersing, gritting his teeth until some of them crack while focusing his Gravity Magic.

But no matter how hard he tries, flight via Gravity Magic is out of reach. So he defaults to what he knows best, brute force.

As Oberon is coming in to grab him again, Bluenote feels his efficiency improve, not allowing him to fly, but enough that he's able to use his most powerful Spell easier.

He turns in mid-air and clasps his hands together, forming another Black Hole, this time launching it at Oberon, a feat that took nearly all of his vast Magic Energy. He swells with pride at this accomplishment, knowing he'd now reached a level that only a handful of Mages dared to dream of.

But just as quickly as he reached it, he saw what lay beyond.

Oberon doesn't change his flight path, only raising his right hand and rather casually creating a Black Hole of his own, perfectly mirroring Bluenote's before launching it at the first one.

Both the Spells collide and cannibalize each other, shrinking with each passing moment while pulling both men in closer.

But while Bluenote fights the pull with Gravity Magic, keeping himself loosely locked in the aid, Oberon speeds up with the pull, arriving at the spells when they've almost completely dispersed into nothingness, barely the size of a fingernail.

And to Bluenote's horror, the boy wraps his hand around them, crushing them into nonexistence by shattering them against Cosmic. He then continues to accelerate, ready to launch a right cross at Bluenote's chest.

Bluenote raises his arms, moving his bloody and battered body in time to block Oberon's strike, but with many Magics enhancing it, Bluenote's right forearm shatters, along with his collarbone when Oberon's fist doesn't stop.

Oberon instantly halts his momentum in the air, not intending to hit with such force, surprised at his most recent breakthrough and how exhausted Bluenote's Magic Energy was.

Bluenote shatters a few more clouds and slams into a sand dune below, bouncing across it and skidding to a halt in the scorching desert. He spits out blood and desperately swallows air, hoping the pain will subside.

But before it can be eased in the slightest, Oberon descends, hovering above him with a expression of pure disappointment.

"Ugh, I thought you'd be stronger than this. Sorry, I overdid it a little, but you started it with that Black Hole."

Bluenote is barely conscious, looking up at the boy, who is already fully healed. "King of the Fairies…dangerous. No wonder my Master wants you dead."

"Huh?" Oberon looks confused for a moment, then is annoyed, and finally, pissed off. "So this was all just a play to kill me, to weaken Fairy Tail…"

Bluenote is immediately fully woken up at those words, realizing his mistake.

Oberon raises his right hand, and he sees raw Ethernano Particles gathering in his palm, all while the boy's Magic Energy flares up so wildly that the clouds above deform and cower away.

"Tell me everything, or—" Before Oberon could finish his threat, Bluenote disappears in a flash of green light.

Oberon cancels his first truly destructive Cosmic Spell, instantly realizing what happened. He rockets off to the oasis, and sees it fully abandoned, leaving no information behind for him to better understand who attacked him, or their motives.

All he knew is that had powerful people, and incredible Magics.

After spending a few hours doing his best to repair the oasis, Oberon leaves, and the conniving Naos Till steps out of a nearby cavern, his aged body feeling the tingling sensation left behind by Oberon.

The oasis is now so saturated that regular non-magical humans and animals would slowly be poisoned by it. He smiles excitedly, knowing that each and every time this happens he'd move much closer to accomplishing his goal.

He raises his right hand and rips Oberon's Magic Energy from the environment, filtering and sorting through all the people, and for a moment considering Bluenote.

But quickly discards that idea, as he can only make one Avatar at a time, and Oberon's was almost ready…
