Anne Sutton looked at the man. She was about to take it off, but the pleading look in his eyes made her feel too bad to go through with it.
She looked at Nathan Fawcett and said, "What's this, a marriage proposal?"
"I'll prepare a proper engagement ring for you later."
"Then what's this?"
"I was out walking by myself a while ago and saw it. I looked at it for a long time, thought it would suit you, so I bought it for you." Nathan Fawcett leaned in and kissed her on the cheek. "I don't need a bunch of reasons to buy you things, right?"
Anne Sutton looked at the man, the corners of her mouth lifted. "Alright!"
His words completely took the pressure off her.
Accepting his ring no longer felt as awkward as it had a moment ago.
She had been afraid of feeling tied down by him.
Nathan Fawcett looked at Anne Sutton and said, "I have to go to the hospital today."
"Why the hospital? Are you not feeling well?"
