Chloe Chase walked over with a smile, sat down, and said to Nathan Fawcett, "You argued with your mother, and she's absolutely furious. She sent me to check on you. Nathan, you're really making her worry herself sick! Do you have any idea how close she was to coming here herself this time? If she had, wouldn't you two have had a complete falling out?"
Nathan Fawcett said, "If she wants to have a falling out, that's fine with me. It's not like anything I do ever makes her happy anyway."
"Nathan!" Chloe Chase said. "I know you feel wronged, but it hasn't been easy for your mother, either. She really does love you! Haven't you two been getting along pretty well these last few years?"
Nathan Fawcett said, "She's the one who has never been satisfied with me."
"That's not true!" Chloe Chase said. "She's always loved you! In private, she often tells me how well you've done since taking over the company."
Hearing this, Nathan Fawcett said, "I'm not a child. You don't have to humor me."
