Anne Sutton glanced at Nathan Fawcett and asked, "Have you seen the news?"
"What news?" Nathan Fawcett, who had been focused on his meal, looked up at her.
Anne Sutton said, "The news about Ms. Shields. The lead actress in her new show has been replaced. I heard the only reason she got to where she is today is because Mr. Linden was backing her. For someone to dare replace her now, isn't that a slap in your face?"
Nathan Fawcett picked up his glass, took a sip of water, and said nothing.
Anne Sutton said, "You're not denying it. So it's true, you're the one who's been backing her all these years?"
"And what if I have?" Nathan Fawcett looked at her. "If you were interested in show business, I could back you too."
"I'll pass," Anne Sutton said. "I don't have the time."
She had no interest in show business.
After all those years of hard study to become a doctor, she had no interest in pursuing anything else.
