Anne Sutton looked at the man before her in disbelief. "Did he really say that?"

Nathan Fawcett nodded. "Yes. After he was gone, weren't you with Charles Prescott, Ms. Sutton? I heard you couldn't even save his child. But he wouldn't blame you. He has no right to stop you from living the life you want; after all, he's dead. It's just..."

Anne Sutton listened to Nathan Fawcett's words. He spoke as an observer, but his words made her heart ache.

The child, in particular, was a constant ache in her heart.

It was true. She hadn't been able to save their child.
