Charles Prescott asked, "I heard something happened to Sharon. How is she?"
He wore a concerned expression.
But Anne Sutton could only see the hypocrisy in his eyes.
'Back when she was still with him, he'd wanted to give Sharon Sutton to Nathan Fawcett. Who would believe he was actually concerned about Sharon now?'
Anne Sutton said, "She's fine. It's nothing serious. I'm surprised a man as important as Mr. Prescott would be concerned."
After speaking, she didn't linger and walked straight through the door.
Nathan Fawcett was standing by the window. He was wearing loose-fitting clothes today, and they seemed to hang empty on his frame.
Anne Sutton had no idea what he was thinking, so she broke the silence. "You're back early?"
Nathan Fawcett looked up at her and asked, "How is your sister?"
"She's doing fine," Anne Sutton said, sitting down. "My parents are looking after her."
