Moksh's P.O.V
I don't understand what she is doing as she grabs me by the shoulders, but I try to calm her down.
"Who gave you permission to leave?" she yells, her voice cracking. "Who said you could walk out of this house?"
Before I can react, her emotional turmoil boils over and she shoves me back against the wall, her grip tight on my jacket collar. Her eyes burn with an intensity I've never seen before. "How dare you try to leave me?"
"What are you doing, Kira?" I demand, my tone rising to match hers. "Let me go! I'm leaving because that's what you wanted, isn't it?"
"Let me go!" I yell in frustration, trying to pry her hands away. "I can't endure this nonsense anymore!"
My resistance forces her to tighten her hold on my coat. "You're hurting me!" I choke out, my patience completely snapping. I shove her arms aside, breaking free. "What the hell do you think you're doing?"
I glare at her with everything I have. "You're about to marry Naveen. What on earth are you doing here?"
Despite my raised voice, her expression completely changes. She looks utterly defeated and lost. She steps back, pressing a hand to her forehead as a heavy sigh escapes her lips.
"I don't know anymore," her voice drops into a whisper filled with sorrow. "I thought I could let you go. God, I really thought I could do it. But I couldn't. How could I fall for someone like you?"
My breath hitches. "What... what do you mean?"
"Naveen saw us talking earlier," she admits softly. "He heard everything when we fought. He heard that you care for me, and he heard why I was pushing for this wedding."
She looks down, her voice trembling. "I can't believe I was judging everyone else when I was the problem all along."
"What are you trying to say, Kira?" I ask, my heart pounding against my ribs. "Just tell me."
"He called off the wedding," she says softly, looking up at me. "He said he couldn't marry someone whose heart belongs to someone else. He released me from the promise because he refused to let either of us live a lie."
I stare at her, unable to process her words. "What... what does that mean?"
My anger vanishes, replaced by utter disbelief. "What does that mean, Kira?"
Her eyes fill with quiet vulnerability. She sinks down to the edge of the bed, unable to meet my gaze. I drop to my knees in front of her, gently cupping her face in my hands.
"What does this mean?" My voice trembles, my heart hammering in my chest.
Kira's P.O.V
His eyes search mine, asking the exact question his voice cannot finish. He holds my wrists gently, pleading for a real answer.
A wave of intense remorse washes over me for treating him so harshly over these past weeks. "How could I hurt you like that? How could I do that when I... when I love you so much?"
The words freeze in his throat. His eyes wide with shock, yet his arms automatically pull me into a tight embrace.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry," I sob, unable to hold back my tears any longer. I tried so hard to deny my feelings, tried to bury them under duty and guilt, but I couldn't do it anymore.
Tears gather in his eyes as he holds me close against his chest. I can hear the rapid pounding of his heart, the uneven rhythm of his breath, and his quiet, choked sobs.
I gently cup his cheeks, lifting his face to press my lips against his. He hesitates for a brief second, still guarded, before melting completely into the kiss. The raw passion and relief in his touch tell me everything—he has been waiting for this just as long as I have. Neither of us wants to let go.
"I hate you," he whispers softly against my lips, finally breaking down in my arms. "I hate you so much."
"I know," I murmur back, smoothing his hair and trying to soothe us both. "I know you do. I'm so sorry."
"You pushed me away," he sobs, clutching my back tightly. "You broke my heart."
"I'm not going anywhere now," I promise firmly. "I'm right here. You can hold it against me for as long as you need to, until you're ready to forgive me."
"How could you be so foolish?" he asks softly, his voice thick with emotion as he looks at me. "How could you not understand my heart? How could you even think about marrying someone else?"
"He's right," a familiar voice speaks up from the doorway.
Naveen steps into the room, looking calm and composed. "How could you marry someone else just for the sake of an old promise?"
Moksh stays close to my side as Naveen walks over and kneels down near us.
"I thought I could make things work between us, Kira," Naveen says with a gentle, bittersweet smile. "But a relationship built on obligation is a lie. We would have both been miserable."
Moksh looks at Naveen in absolute disbelief.
Naveen reaches out, gently placing a hand on my shoulder before leaning down to press a soft, final kiss onto my forehead. "Now you're free. With this, I'm letting you go."
I stare at him in awe. He is giving up the very future he planned, simply because he wants me to be genuinely happy. "Thank you, Naveen," I whisper genuinely.
He offers a quiet nod and leaves the room, closing the door behind him.
Moksh's P.O.V
Watching him kiss her forehead made a flare of jealousy spark in my chest, but the moment he walked out that door, peace washed over me. She was finally here. Fully, completely mine.
I extend my hand toward her with a faint smile. "He freed you. Are you going to stay with me now?"
A genuine, radiant smile lights up her face—a smile I have never seen on her before.
She pulls me up gently, and we sit together on the edge of the bed. She takes my hands in hers, kissing my fingers one by one. The wall of coldness between us has completely shattered, replaced by an overwhelming warmth.
She leans in, resting her forehead against mine. "I promise you, Moksh, I will never let anything come between us again."
Her lips find mine once more in a deep, passionate kiss. There is no anger, no hesitation, and no bitter games left between us.
"It's been so long, hasn't it?" she whispers softly against my skin.
"Yes... it really has," I reply, my voice barely above a whisper as I wrap my arms securely around her waist.
"I'll make up for every single second we wasted," she promises, running her fingers through my hair and holding me close.
For the first time since I stepped into this house, I feel completely safe. The fierce dominance she once used to push people away has transformed into a fierce protectiveness over me.
"You're mine," she whispers against my ear, her voice full of emotion. "I'm never letting you go. Do you hear me? Never."
"I'm yours," I answer without a single doubt in my heart.
She pulls back slightly, her dark eyes searching mine with affection. She pins my hands gently atop the sheets, leaning down to press her lips to mine once more.
"No more running," she says quietly. "No more hiding."
I nod, resting my head against her shoulder as the heavy exhaustion of the past few weeks finally catches up to us.
"Why are you making that face?" she asks softly, chuckling as she notices my thoughtful expression.
"You made me go through hell these past few weeks," I mutter playfully, resting my head against her chest.
She bursts into a soft laugh, kissing the top of my head before pulling the blanket over both of us.
"I'm sorry," she whispers fondly. "You are mine, and I am yours now. I'm never discarding you again. If you're still worried, I'll put a ring on your finger tomorrow just to prove it."
She holds me tightly in her arms as we lie together in the quiet room, the lingering shadows of the past finally giving way to something real.
THE END
