Chapter 93 - Chapter 93 - Classified

Murdoc followed this Agent Woo off the helicopter. They had landed on a massive building. He actually recognized it as the structure that was in the process of being built back in the day.

"So who is this Fury?" Murdoc asked as they entered a building. "Oh, that's nice." He was talking about the air conditioning. It was cold but not suffocating.

"He is the current Director of SHIELD, he is a legend around here." Agent Woo answered, "but I did not catch your name. All I was told was to bring you here immediately after you landed."

"I am not sure how I should answer you." Murdoc answered as they entered an elevator and went down a few floors.

The elevator stopped and Agent Woo stepped aside and waved at the entrance. Murdoc walked off the elevator and found himself in a hallway with a number of glass walls. He looked around and noticed someone standing against another set of windows, he was black man who was moving his hands around oddly.

Murdoc walked to the single door on this floor and opened it up. "Umm…"

The man looked over at him. "Ah. You must be Murdoc Hilt." He walked towards Murdoc and offered his hand to shake. "It is a pleasure to meet you, my name is Director Fury. I will be honest, I was surprised when your file was delivered to my desk. But I was even more surprised when an outdated code was used."

Murdoc shook Fury's hand, "I am sorry but I am still playing catch up. Going from the 1970s to the modern century has been quite the disturbing ordeal."

"That is okay, actually I was hoping you could help me out a bit." Director Fury waved at the glass he was messing with. It had a bunch of images and what looked like documents on it. "The document which was just delivered to me before you called seems to be in code." Fury showed him the digital recreation of the code.

Murdoc looked over it for a second and frowned. "Can you remove this digital one and bring me the actual papers?" Murdoc asked, getting a confused look from Fury. "The first part of it says not to make a copy."

Fury nodded and a moment later the file was erased. He then walked over to his desk and picked up the thick file. He turned and handed it to Murdoc.

"Murdoc Hilt, Omega Project." He opened it, "This file is not to be copied under any circumstances. Only two individuals can access this file. Murdoc Hilt and the Director of Shield if he undergoes the appropriate tests. Contact this number to check if the Director is cleared: xxx-xxx-xxxx." Murdoc read it off and then looked at Director Fury who looked surprised. "You would not happen to have a telephone that I could use in this building. Would you?"

Fury quietly chuckled as he pulled out his cellphone and pulled up the phone app. "Here you go. Welcome to the future."

Murdoc nodded and dialed the number. It rang and then a moment later it connected. "Umm… this is Murdoc. I am calling-"

"I know. You are calling to see if Director Fury is clear to know the knowledge contained in that file. He is, unfortunately you are not in a secure location. Even now someone is attempting to track the call." The voice answered, she sounded amused. But Murdoc felt like he recognized the voice, but there was just something off about it.

"Are you saying my office is bugged? I had the office swept for bugs just this morning." Fury was angry at what he heard.

"Yes, but that is part of a larger problem." The woman answered. "I am sending you the address of an individual who can provide a location that cannot be bugged where you can be debriefed completely." Murdoc closed the file at that, but now he was sure of who the owner of the voice was.

"What if they track down your contact?" Director Fury asked as he grumbled he moved to his desk and began grabbing a few things.

"I do not hide the fact that I hired him. All relevant parties are aware of what he does for both shield and well… actually I do not want to spoil too much. Speaking of spoiling something, I am sure Murdoc has recognized my voice. Do me a favor and do not reveal my identity." The woman told him.

"Ha… I doubt anyone would believe me if I did." Murdoc responded.

Fury looked at him but Murdoc just shrugged. Then there was a ding on the phone followed by the call being hung up. He looked down at his phone, "I have the… this is in New York." Fury showed the location to Murdoc who just shrugged.

Fury then led the way out of the office and into the elevator. The elevator went up and then dinged as they arrived at the roof. The weird jet-plane-thing he flew in on was still there. They walked up and into the back ramp of the ship.

But just as Fury was moving to the front of the ship, Murdoc stopped and looked around. "Stop." Fury stopped mid step as Murdoc looked around for a moment. He moved to the side of the ship and pulled a bag off the bunk. Shoving the file inside he stepped out of the ship and looked around.

"What's wrong?" Fury asked.

Murdoc kept looking around, first around the roof and then he looked in the sky. Which is when he spotted something. It was like a bird. He nodded at it. "What is that?"

Fury moved out of the rear of the plane. He looked to the sky just as they saw a burst of smoke and fire. "That is a drone and a missile. We need to move." Fury hurriedly moved out of the ship. Murdoc followed after him.

"What is a drone?" Murdoc asked as he followed him back to the elevator. As it started moving down there was an explosion. It shook the elevator but for some reason Murdoc was not too bothered. Director Fury on the other hand was making a call.

"This is Director Fury, a drone just fired on the Triskelion." Fury was calling on his phone while Murdoc looked through the bag he just grabbed on instinct. Aside from the file he put in there, he also found a few other things of interest. One was a hat which he pulled out and looked at Fury. He just shrugged in response. "Yes, a drone. Find out where it came from and who sent it. Get a team together and report back to me." He then put away his phone. "Sorry about that."

"Eh…" Murdoc shrugged as he pulled out a pistol and looked at Fury with a raised eyebrow. "Usually we keep track of these. Did we stop doing that?"

Fury frowned, "we still do. How did you know something was wrong?"

Murdoc was about to answer when he felt it again. He pushed a button and the elevator stopped. "Same way I can tell now. Instinct. It is why I was part of special operations."

"Seems like someone does not want to let us get out of here without an issue." Fury frowned as they moved to the stairs. "Using a drone to fire on the Triskelion was suicide, but intentionally targeting me means I am doing something right."

"Or they could just be forcing us into a position that would allow them to get this file. How did you get it?" Murdoc asked as they walked down the stairs. He started pulling out and equipping the things from the bag since he might end up needing them.

"Someone I thought was an agent dropped it off. But by the time I realized what they dropped off they had already disappeared." Fury explained.

"I should catch up on technology so I know how to deal with all of this." Murdoc decided.
