Chapter 85 - Chapter 85 - London Calling 4/9

Ethan and the others raised their hands in surrender while the lights came on. In front of them were several men and women, civilians armed with an array of weapons. From rifles to pistols, even some two barreled shotguns.

After a moment one of them spoke up, "Oi! That's the cap! Not a Nazi!"

"Eh?" Someone else began speaking, "Then welcome them in, any enemy of the Nazis is an ally of me and mine! A man made his way through the crowd." He was a small, heavy weight man. He looked her over and his eyes widened in surprise. "Shite! Tommy, get the sewing kit and alcohol. She is injured."

The crowd made way for the younger Carter and the Older one as they moved to a table. Where the younger one was laid down and then the older one began by cutting open her suit to treat the wound.

"Why are there two of them?" Someone from the crowd asked while the man and Ethan walked over to join them.

The leader of this little rebel group walked up to them. "So what are you and the cap up to? The Nazis have been buzzing about capturing or killing all of you. But they are far more interested in catching," He began pointing them out, "the doppelganger Peggy Carter." He then pointed at the man, "the man that came with her." Then he pointed at Ethan, "and the armored bastard who just appeared out of nowhere and has apparently already pissed off Red Skull enough for him to switch the order from capture to kill."

"Ah, well I am flattered in that case. But that does give me an idea for a plan." Ethan looked around and walked over to a bar. "Do you have a layout or map of the area?"

"Yeah, over here," The leader showed him to a table that had a radio operator station where a young woman was currently writing down a bunch of stuff on a notepad. There was also a map of the city laid out with a bunch of figures and things on it. Probably indicators of the soldiers and positions. "We have been surveilling them for a while now. But for the past few minutes the bulk of their forces have been moved to this hotel." He pointed at the hotel that Ethan originally arrived in from. It was the same wording on the broken down hotel of the one he came in from in his world.

"Damn, we need to take that hotel. Do you happen to have a secret way in?" Ethan asked while he was already thinking about alternate entrances. But he saw the beer bellied man shuffle in nervousness. Ethan turned to the man, "that is a yes."

"Well yeah, we have been curious about what was going on so we planned to sneak in through the sewers later tonight." The man answered honestly, "apparently there is a smugglers route into the hotel from the sewers."

Ethan clapped his gloves together, "then that is our way in. Hey, get her ready to move, we have to go to the hotel again." He yelled at the other two who were doing first aid on the younger Carter.

"What are we going to do?" The older Carter asked with suspicion as Ethan discretely pulled out his detection device and used it.

Under his mask he frowned at the results. The signal was weaker but still there. It likely meant that the younger Carter had the item core on her. While she herself was a core of the pocket dimension. The item core was probably her shield, he would have to go back for it after he got her out.

"I could explain years of science and engineering but instead I will just tell you we need to get to that hotel to send you home." Ethan answered, lying but it was not like they needed to know their full objective.

"Then leave me here and go." The younger Carter insisted from her position on the table.

Ethan shook his head, "no can do, you are a crucial component of my plan." He then glanced over at the leader of this pub group who was quietly talking with the female radio operator.

"Actually, it seems like none of us can stay. We have Hydra soldiers sweeping the area. They know you are around here so it is only a matter of time before they break down our door. So I guess that means any that are willing can join you in your plan." The pub leader answered.

"But not you?" Ethan asked as there was a shuffling in the crowd.

"Nope, I would rather burn down the shop than let some Nazis take it over." The man answered.

"In that case…" Ethan began looking around. "Escort those that want to just leave to a secret exit. Anyone else will take the sewers to the hotel. I need to borrow the radio and a few other things to make a rather fun gift you can give them when they arrive."

The pub leader waved him off, "yeah as long as I can kill a lot of Nazis do what you want. You heard the lad, time to pick whether you want to help the cap and his friends or go home to your family!"

Ethan began working on his plan while the older Carter and her friend were armed with weapons from people that were leaving. Going home to their families or just did not want to sacrifice their life for an objective they would not know. Half an hour passed when they finally began moving through the sewer system.

"So I get we are going to the hotel. But won't they use radios to communicate our position as soon as we arrive there?" The man that came with the older Carter asked. Along with the three of them they also had a dozen British militia members.

Ethan chuckled as he peaked around a corner before quietly answering. "Yeah, normally they would but I have a playlist picked out. It should cause quite a bit of chaos when I start playing it."

"Then they could just switch to a backup channel." The man pointed out.

"Not if I play it on all of the radio channels." Ethan answered before quietly moving around the corner and further down the tunnel. He was watching for soldiers patrolling the sewer tunnel, fortunately there had not appeared to be any patrols just yet. He opened the paper map the bartender had given him. They were almost to the hotel. Now he just had to wait for the signal to initiate his plan while they made their way to the hotel.

The owner of the pub had seen many things over the years. But the day these Nazis took over the city had to be the worst experience he ever had. Them marching down the streets had made him grind his teeth but the fact that his son had been killed and left a widowed wife had made him furious.

Both were now back at a family homestead out in the countryside. He was supposed to completely close up shop and join them. But if he could make a dent in the Nazis hold on his home country by helping Cap and her friends then he damn well would do it.

The door to his pub burst open as he was pouring himself a cup of whiskey behind the bar. He glanced at his shotgun which was a few feet away, not close enough for him to grab quickly before he was shot.

He looked back to the door as his hand with a cup of whiskey shook in his hand. He raised it to his lip and began drinking as the Hydra soldiers filled into the room. They kicked over tables and did not care about any damage.

One of them jumped behind the counter and pointed his gun directly at the man, then he began screaming in German. The man ignored him as he watched the door because he could see a thing walk in. It was not right to call him a man because his head was entirely red like he had been skinned alive.

The man spoke something in German before walking directly to the bartender. "I apologize for my friends. We are looking for some rather violent rebels. We saw a blood trail leading into your bar. Not to mention you are open past curfew."

The pub owner calmly sighed as he set a glass in front of the man, "you have a particular poison? Or are you fine with anything?"

The monster of a man grinned, "a bit of what you are having if you would."

The pub owner nodded as he calmed his nerves. He smoothly poured a glass. "Those people you talked about, they passed through here."

"Do you happen to know where they are going? Or which of them were injured?" The man with the red head asked as he took a sniff of the whiskey before taking a sip.

"Both actually." The pub owner was completely calm as his hand reached under the counter. "They also left something for you."

BANG!

There was a shattering as the pub owner fell back as one of his hands went to his stomach which was now bleeding. The red faced man was aiming a luger at him, "If they left something I can get it." His hand was reaching under the counter.

The pub owner chuckled as one of his hands reached into his apron. "That is my lighter, this is the present." The pub owner pulled out a modified handheld radio and then looked up at the roof.

The man with the red skull looked up with the pub owner. On the roof were several containers across the roof with wires going from them. Ethan had set up the explosives earlier that evening using chemicals, alcohol, and the wires from the radio.

"Scheiße." Red Skull cursed as the Pub owner clicked the radio.

BOOOOMMM!!!
