[Not control, exactly. You can absorb their powers. Basically, the link is what you are absorbing. You won't be able to gain anything, but the pawns of Deimos will be weakened.]

[Exactly. The power doesn't give you anything new, but it steals the connection Deimos has over them. Once it's gone, they become like lost puppies.]
"Lost puppies that might still try to bite me," she muttered, scratching her cheek. "But hey, better than being Deimos's attack robots."
She paced a little, thinking hard. "So if I'm near one of his puppets... the link starts fading? And they get weaker?"
