Chapter 34 - Trial Of Control

Alex smiled as she finished the trial, and once more Perman appeared. He looked jovial, and smiled before coughing into his fist.

"Congratulations on finishing the Trial of Aim, you may have realised by now that the answer to these trials is to create a new lightning element spell in order to help you, yes?"

Alex nodded, she was slightly confused about it, because although the trials were hard, they weren't anything that crazy considering her strength, and lightning control.

Perman continued, "The real purpose of these trials isn't to test whether you are worthy or not, Levelk has already determined that you are the one, and these trials aren't really tests, they're rewards, it will help you learn many valuable skills, and at the end of the 15 trials, you will be presented with a prize."

"Don't ask what it is, I don't know."

"Now let's continue, the next trial will be the Trial of Control. You will have 10 hours to navigate a maze. Since I've already told you the purpose of these trials, I will tell you the solution to this trial."

"The solution is to take your lightning mana, and turn it into many threads, and send those threads through each path in the maze, now you have to be careful because if your threads move away from the centre of the hallway, it will be absorbed by the maze's walls, that is why this trial is known as the Trial of Control, you need to perfectly control your lightning mana."

"Now let the trial begin."

Alex was teleported to the start of a maze, and she sat down to think. So the method was to send many threads into the maze, however the issue was that if she sent many threads into one area, they would be too thick, and hit the wall.

If she didn't send enough threads, it would take too long to go back, and forth. Also, she wasn't confident in controlling the threads, and since it was a necessity, Alex started with that first.

She altered her mana control into a thread before shooting it out of her forefinger, and sent it into the maze. She quickly found the centre, but it was shaky. Her control of the thread wasn't very stable, and the further it got from her, the harder it became to control, and before it even went a metre, it fell.

And so, she began practising, and practising, and practising, until eventually she got the hang of it. In order to control her mana better, she made thread hollow so that it was lighter, and easier to manipulate, and she figured out a method to properly control her mana.

Alex began going into the maze, but swiftly realised that if she put too many threads together, they would simply become too thick, and hit the wall. She began thinking once more, and referenced sewing.

Eventually she simply wrapped her mana threads together like twine, and split off one thread every time she encountered a split.

Her mana quickly went through the maze, and she found the route before walking through the maze with a smile.
