Chapter 17 - Chapter 17

After Arthur gave Magneto a stern warning, he flew back home.

Little did he know that everything that had just transpired was observed by S.H.I.E.L.D. through satellites. However, even if he was aware, he probably wouldn't care.

"Coulson, what are your thoughts?"

Nick Fury frowned and asked.

"We seem to have underestimated Superman's power. His ability to control gravity is far greater than our initial estimations. Even Magneto's magnetic force was completely defeated in his presence... According to the **** formula and **** theory, we can deduce that..."

Coulson began uttering a series of technical terms based on the report, which made Nick Fury's head throb.

"Forget about the data, just give me the key points!"

Nick Fury impatiently interrupted.

"Alright... alright. We previously believed that all the weapons on Earth would be useless against him, primarily due to his speed and formidable defense. However, now... all the weapons we possess... may actually become his arsenal against us..."

Coulson intermittently conveyed the inference results.

"So, we have no means to deal with him? What if one day... he decides to annihilate humanity!" Nick Fury's face grew grim.

"I'm afraid... that is indeed the situation we face currently..."

"Damn it! In the comics, Superman is so well-rounded that he even has the weakness of kryptonite. But this monster, he has no weakness whatsoever. How could such a creature come into existence naturally..."

Nick Fury erupted in anger and cursed.

"If Superman truly intends to destroy humanity one day, then the only option left for us... is to summon her..."

Nick Fury reached out and touched the red pager he always carried with him. It had the power to call forth the mightiest superhero in Nick Fury's mind.

"Boss, there is one more thing..."

"Spit it out!"

"Superman has displayed a new superpower. Our agent monitoring Tony Stark reported that the Arc Reactor in Tony Stark's chest has vanished, and he now appears completely normal. It is speculated that he has been detoxified, and all of this occurred after Tony Stark's encounter with Superman!"

"Our experts speculate that Superman possesses a superpower that can heal illnesses!"

"Perhaps it can only treat minor ailments like colds, so why should we be concerned?" Nick Fury said nonchalantly.

"But their speculation is... that Superman's ability can cure any known disease, including cancer, AIDS..."

"What?!!"

Nick Fury was instantly shocked.

Such an ability is truly remarkable. Its existence implies that humans will overcome diseases entirely, and society will undergo revolutionary changes. This ability is more valuable than any other.

"If the wealthy individuals learn about this superhuman ability, they will go mad with desire. Having a healthy body is everyone's dream!"

"The group from the Academy of Sciences is hoping that S.H.I.E.L.D. can step in and persuade Superman to collaborate with their research..."

"Collaborate with their research? Are they insane? Don't they realize how powerful Superman is? Tell them that S.H.I.E.L.D. will not intervene. Whoever wants to study Superman must convince him themselves!"

Nick Fury quickly regained his composure.

Convince Superman? That would be suicidal!

"They have already informed the President, Congress, the U.S. military, and the spokespersons of major corporations. This is the latest directive from the President, requesting our involvement!"

"What! Those idiots! Do they even know what they're doing? They're playing with fire. If Superman gets angry, he could potentially destroy the entire country..."

Nick Fury angrily cursed, but he couldn't change the fact that S.H.I.E.L.D. had to step in. The funding for S.H.I.E.L.D. came from the United States, and when under someone's roof, one must bow their head.

"Go and contact Tony Stark. He has some acquaintance with Superman, so perhaps Superman will show some leniency towards him."

"Yes, Director!"

. . . . . .

"What a perfect human weapon! Once I possess his powers, I will become a crime lord who rules the world!"

On the top floor of a 100-meter-high building, a portly man in a suit and leather shoes watched a video of Superman defeating two monsters and spoke with excitement.

This man was the infamous crime lord—Kingpin!

Kingpin is the archenemy of superheroes like Spider-Man and Daredevil.

His real name is Wilson Grant Fisk, and he is the most prominent underworld boss in New York, if not the entire United States. He possesses intelligence and wisdom beyond that of ordinary individuals. Over 90% of his body is composed of muscle, making him a human wall. Furthermore, he is a world-class martial artist, possessing combat skills on par with the Punisher.

Additionally, his cane emits laser light and smoke, making him a formidable opponent. In the criminal underworld, he is known as the Kingpin, signifying his role as the mastermind. His network extends across the globe, and he frequently clashes with vigilantes like the Nightcrawler who disrupt his "business." He has faced off against superheroes such as Iron Man, the Punisher, Spider-Man, and even the Fantastic Four and X-Men.

"Boss, how should we control such a monster?"

A subordinate standing next to him inquired.

"Is it even a question? He must be threatened! Send out my men immediately to capture the person he cares about most—Superman. Once we have him in our custody, we'll have the ultimate leverage over Arthur."
