Gu Lanshan was looking for trouble in this manner. First, she suppressed her hunger, cleared her throat, which caught the attention of Sheng Shi who was eating as he turned his head to look at her. Then, without saying a word, she pointed to the water cup on the table beside her. Sheng Shi immediately put down his chopsticks, poured her a glass of water, and handed it to her. He stood by the bedside, waiting for her to finish drinking before taking the glass away and turning back to continue eating at the table.
Sheng Shi had taken a couple of bites when Lanshan started clamoring about wanting to watch TV. Sheng Shi found the remote control and handed it to Lanshan, but Lanshan didn't take it and instead pointed at the TV screen. Sheng Shi instantly understood, turned the TV on for her, and began flipping through channels, asking after each switch, "Next one?"
