Sheng Shi fought the tide of people to the square where the lights had dimmed considerably. He searched for Gu Lanshan in all directions, walking stop-and-go, looking left and right, until a sudden turn revealed a familiar figure in the dwindling light.
She stood beside the Wish Pool, her hand extended to block a tiny jet of water. Droplets struck her palm, scattering every which way, some splashing onto her clothes, but she made no move to dodge. Her lips lightly curved into a smile as she played merrily.
The colorful lights in the Wish Pool flickered ceaselessly, casting various hues on her face.
Sheng Shi stood at a distance from her, quietly watching her.
She seemed engrossed in her own world, child-like, her pure white hands playing with the water.
The light in the plaza was too dim to make out her face and expression clearly, but she seemed more radiant and eye-catching than any of the street's attractions.
