The process of debuting as a Professional Hero and joining the Hero Association was actually very simple.
All you had to do was take the Hero Association's test.
To recruit heroes and expand its fighting strength and influence, the Hero Association regularly held examinations to screen applicants. As long as you passed, you could obtain a Hero License, get registered in the Hero Directory, and make your debut as a Professional Hero.
Because Professional Heroes received excellent benefits, plenty of people wanted to join their ranks. These days, every round of testing attracts more than ten thousand applicants, yet only a handful manage to pass.
As a result, even the lowest-ranked C-Class heroes numbered fewer than four hundred. It was easy to imagine how difficult it was to earn those benefits.
As for determining hero qualifications, the evaluation was mainly split into two parts: a written exam and a physical test. The written exam was worth 50 points, and the physical test was worth 50 points, for a total of 100. Anyone who scored above 70 points could obtain a Hero License and become a Professional Hero.
The test Fang Li mentioned was exactly this.
Although Sylvia could easily join because of the Hero Association's interest in her and their invitation, and could even receive an A-Class evaluation thanks to her previous achievements, becoming an S-Class hero right away was clearly impossible.
Not only did the Hero Association have its own difficulties to consider, but even if they wanted to capitalize on Sylvia's fame, they still couldn't make that kind of sudden decision.
More importantly, becoming an S-Class Hero was one of the Main Quests issued by God's Dimension. Since it had been designated as a Main Quest, even if the Hero Association coveted Sylvia's fame, outside circumstances would probably prevent them from directly awarding her S-Class status. Otherwise, the quest wouldn't match its intended difficulty.
And if even Sylvia couldn't do it, Fang Li had even less of a chance.
Sylvia at least had the special privileges granted by God's Dimension and the background of a world-famous diva, yet she still couldn't become an S-Class Hero directly. Fang Li, who had no such background whatsoever, obviously stood no chance.
It was precisely because he understood this that he proposed taking the test. As long as he passed, everything would be settled.
Under those circumstances, although the next scheduled Hero Association examination was still some time away, Sitch informed the higher-ups because of Sylvia's situation. In the end, they decided to arrange a special private test for both Fang Li and Sylvia.
The results came out soon afterward.
"A-Class, huh?"
Looking at the notice in his hand, Fang Li wasn't surprised at all. The Hero Association's test wasn't particularly difficult for him.
First came the physical examination. That part wasn't a problem whatsoever.
After all, Fang Li's total attributes had already reached 700 points, far surpassing the Third-Rank limit of 500. Even though he specialized in speed, both his Strength and Vitality had exceeded 100 points. Compared to ordinary people, he was in an entirely different league. A physical test was effortless.
As for the written exam, Fang Li had no idea what standards they used for grading, so he simply answered according to his own judgment.
In the end…
Physical Test: 50 points
Written Exam: 42 points
Total Score: 92 points
Hero Rank: A-Class
Clearly, according to the Hero Association's grading standards, Fang Li had earned a perfect score in the physical test. His quick thinking and adaptability were also enough to handle most situations.
Then, a system notification sounded in his mind.
"Serial Number 11273 has passed the Hero Association certification test and obtained the title - Hero (A-Class)."
Hero (A-Class)
STR: +20
VIT: +20
AGI: +20
INT: +20
Special Effect: Alignment of Justice. When fighting targets belonging to evil-aligned factions, all attributes receive an additional +10 bonus.
(While this title is equipped, the user may not join an evil-aligned faction. If they do, the title will become invalid and cannot be restored.)
None of this was unexpected.
In the past, Fang Li had obtained titles when he became a Butei, an Adventurer, and a Guardian Knight. Now that he had become a Professional Hero, Fang Li had also obtained a title and gained a new set of bonuses.
"Though this title is still a bit inferior to Guardian Knight."
Guardian Knight provided a +30 bonus to all attributes, and its special effect wasn't limited to specific opponents. Instead, it only required the user to wield a sword, granting another +10 to all attributes while doing so. Between the two effects, it was obvious which one had more restrictions.
So for Fang Li, who already possessed the Guardian Knight title, this new title was basically useless.
As for Sylvia...
"S-Class, huh..."
Holding her own notice, Sylvia casually checked the results as if it were nothing special.
Naturally, Sylvia's scores were no worse than Fang Li's.
Physical Test: 50 points
Written Exam: 50 points
Total Score: 100 points
Hero Rank: S-Class
And, as expected, Sylvia received a title as well.
Hero (S-Class)
STR: +30
VIT: +30
AGI: +30
INT: +30
Special Effect 1: Alignment of Justice. When fighting targets belonging to evil-aligned factions, all attributes receive an additional +20 bonus.
Special Effect 2: Combat Endurance. No matter how severe the injuries sustained, pain can be suppressed, vital functions maintained, and the user can continue fighting at full strength.
(While this title is equipped, the user may not join an evil-aligned faction. If they do, the title will become invalid and cannot be restored.)
This title's bonuses actually surpassed those of Guardian Knight.
Both provided +30 to all attributes. As for the special effects, Guardian Knight was more flexible since the wearer controlled when its condition was met. However, Hero (S-Class) came with two special effects, and the first one granted an even greater boost than Guardian Knight.
Even so, Sylvia didn't seem interested in using it.
"My current title enhances the abilities I use. Even though it only gives +20 to all attributes, it's still the one that suits me best."
That was Sylvia's reasoning. Fang Li could only smile wryly at that.
"You got a title from achieving a perfect score on the test, and you're not even going to use it?"
Even so, Fang Li wasn't surprised by her result in the slightest.
After all, although Sylvia devoted most of her time to her entertainment career, her academic ability was also extremely impressive. At the very least, she was smarter than Fang Li.
So scoring a perfect 50 on the written exam, a perfect 100 overall, and receiving an S-Class evaluation was completely within Fang Li's expectations.
It should be remembered that the Hero Association hadn't seen a perfect score in nearly two years. And when the person achieving that score was Sylvia, being immediately classified as S-Class was hardly surprising.
As for Fang Li...
"I won't be satisfied with just A-Class."
Looking at the notice in his hand, Fang Li smiled calmly.
