Like an undying revenant made out of silver, he staggered forward with blood dripping from his limbs. He had forcefully reattached them with silver and was in excruciating pain. Yet he toughened through the pain and limped into the forest. He limped forward blindly until he found cobblestone steps touching the soles of his shoes.
He made it up the steps and with bloodshot eyes saw a giant oak tree and a multitude of shrines. The Silver Saint shoved his hands into the tree's bark, and sounds of the wood cracking and resin pouring out could be heard.
The Saint took a handful of the tree resin and drank it. His body quickly regenerated and as soon as it was as if nothing had happened to his body in the first place.
"I will repay this debt to you one day, friend."
The Silver Saint was about to fly off again but before he could he heard the sound of unintelligible words being spoken in the distance. It was coming from inside the shrines, as he got closer he started to recognize Sekito's voice and immediately opened the wooden door.
There on the floor, he found Sekito with her arm covering her face, around her were endless bottles of alcohol. In the corner sat a blue-haired girl huddled up in the corner not even reacting to his presence. The blue-haired girl's eyes were completely unresponsive as he approached her. It was as if she didn't even care what would happen to her life anymore.
The Silver Saint looked at Sekito with eyes full of compassion, not knowing what had happened to her he decided to help her out by first laying her down on something more comfortable and giving her water.
With his super-sensitive lox sensor, the Silver Saint immediately saw how loxes inside both of the girls were fluctuating uncontrollably. It was like a ticking time bomb waiting to explode.
In the end, there was nothing he could do about it and he stood up and started to pick up the empty bottles on the ground.
"Consider this my debt repaid to you, my friend."
He helped Sekito and Marlowlia get cleaned up and tried feeding both of them.
"This might sting a little bit."
He carefully used his index finger and concentrated a small amount of loxes on the tip of his finger and focused deep inside their bodies. He found the unstable part of their lox reserves and froze it.
Sekito and Marlowlia's eyes started to relax a bit as they felt some of the discomfort slowly dissipating.
With that, some of Sekito's sanity came back, and she was drawn into the eyes of the Silver Saint's compassionate eyes.
"Reiko…"
The Silver Saint smiled before putting his scar-covered hand full of calluses onto Sekito's soft head and started to pat her.
"I'm not as courteous as you say, Sekito."
Now fully aware of what was going on she looked around frantically in the room feeling the Silver Saint's hand touch her cheek guiding her face back towards him.
"Ren?!"
"You finally recognized me," he softly laughed before pulling his hand away.
Sekito held her head in pain as she wondered what had happened to her and then the visions of Devina came back. Her sister was gone… she clutched her heart in pain and stumbled forward, but got caught in the arms of the Silver Saint.
"Devina…"
Her heart started to hurt again as she remembered everything once more.
"Your sister has left this world?"
Sekito clutched her face in agony and let out a coarse moan before falling unconscious from exhaustion in the Silver Saint's arms.
After the Silver Saint finished putting Sekito into bed, he looked at Marlowlia who was still unresponsive even though his had calmed down the fluctuation inside her body.
He crouched down onto Marlowlia's level and scooted a little closer to her.
With a little tap of his finger, he summoned a bunch of glittery silver figures who danced in the silver rain. It was nothing more than a little distraction for the troubled child's mind he thought. He put on a little show for the little blue-haired girl and for the first time since her parents' death, her eyes looked up.
The Silver Saint stood up and started to prepare something for both of them to eat and for a week or so, he took care of them until they were able to talk again.
Sekito explained to him that her sister had made a contract with the Aeon of Freedom. In the contract, she lost her life and for what she got, Sekito still don't know.
The Silver Saint sat there listening to her story remembering what happened to his own little sister.
"You had a little sister?" Sekito asked surprised.
A soft smile formed on Ren's lips as he looked back into the past.
"She had one of the brightest smiles in the world. Even if I was deep in the pits of darkness, spending even one moment with her vanquished all the negative emotions one could have." His smile grew even bigger as images of his little sister appeared in his mind.
"Devina smiled once for me."
"Only one time?"
Sekito tilted her head and put it onto his shoulder and closed her eyes.
"Just once."
The Silver Saint looked over at Sekito and saw how she had already fallen asleep.
Even though the Silver Saint wanted to continue staying here taking care of them until they were fully better, he couldn't wait any longer and needed to get stronger to be able to decimate the monarchs.
They had gotten to the point they could take care of themselves now and the Silver Saint planned on leaving the next morning but the night before they left Marlowlia asked him if he could teach her how to do the silver tricks he would do to calm her down.
So the entire night, Marlowlia and the Saint spent together trying to make silver out of the loxes in the air.
Marlowlia was a quick learner and was able to pick up on the silver techniques quickly. And soon enough she was able to make her own little silver figure that could run around in the air.
The Silver Saint praised her for being able to learn the technique so quickly and stood up to leave. But once again Marlowlia stopped him in his tracks.
"With this, I can avenge my mother and father right? I can with this defeat those who started all this, the dragons, right?"
A guilty expression grew on the Saint's face as he didn't want to involve a young little girl in a war between him and the Dragons.
But he wanted to protect humanity and she was already a victim of the dragons.
"I can't involve you in this war," the Saint turned around and was about to leave.
Marlowlia stepping out of her comfort zone grabbed onto his robe pulling him back.
"Please…"
Ren looked into her serious and sincere eyes which were full of abhorrence… those were the same eyes that stared back at him in the river's reflection after dragons had massacred his family. The eyes of the pacifist had now turned into the eyes of the vengeful just like how the Silver Saint's.
"Yes, you can kill dragons with the silver battle technique, it is one of the only effective methods to completely nullify their regeneration."
With that, the Silver Saint had given in to training Marlowlia into a Silver Saint.
