A demon girl was running as she had to get away, for this was not supposed to be possible.
'Why did things turn out this way, as it was not supposed to be like this, but the other way around,' she thought as she ran.
Her group had claimed they would buy her time, yet she could hear as she ran that that was not the case. They were not buying her time at all, as she was being allowed to run away. They were taking their time dealing with the rest of her group on their own, as if they were toying with them and not ever taking them seriously, just messing with them because they found it fun, and that she was being saved for last rather than being allowed to escape.
Running and hiding behind a rock, she tried to make herself stay hidden as much as possible. If she focused, they should just pass her by as she was considered the most gifted of their group after all.
"If I hide here, there is no way that they would ever find me here," a voice behind her states suddenly.
The demon girl frantically begins to back away from them.
"Stay away from me," she exclaims
"Oh, why would you be scared of me? I am just a lowly human after all. You know the weakest amongst the four races," they said
"There is no way that's true, as you can not be human and still manage to wipe us all out like that. You must be lying as your race can not be...." she said before trailing off.
".....true *show their status to them* now. Look at what my status says, as I am pretty sure it says human." They told her, "It is right there in black and white." *runs their finger along where the line for race is located and says human*
"But how can you possibly be human as they are? That should not be possible as how can you have stats that large" she yells.
"Training and effort plus my own unique skills. You know how some members of a race get skills that enhance what their race is naturally good at," they tell her.
"But humans are not good at anything, they are just....just....." she then trails off once again.
"Jack of all trades but master of none. However, what if there was one that was master and their skills enhanced what humans were good at," they said.
"So when you were asking to learn from us and watching us from the back," she asked, worried.
"Pretty much learned everything you all could do within the first week of seeing you all fight seriously. Even the stuff I did not see, I could guess based on what I already knew. Your group did not seem to be hiding anything that was unique to me," they told her.
"Then why did you stay with us until now, as you could have just left us alone after you learned everything. So why did you..." she said before a finger was placed on her lips.
"Leader wants you to be quiet and listen," they laughed as that finger on her lips was from the serving arm of their leader.
Turning white, she held back her scream as she was being kept alive for a reason, and she did not want to mess this up.
"Hunting. I was hunting, and your group was my current prey, with you standing out amongst them for something I wanted," they told her.
"What were you hunting?" she asked worriedly after they did not continue.
"Well, it is simple, you all hunt humans, right. So there is a chance that a human might come hunting you all at some point. Did you think it was impossible that something like that would happen? Sure, it would have likely ended badly for the humans if they were human, but did you really think that you could not end up the hunted?" the human asked her.
"That acting like you guys wanted me around, I was merely seeing if it was for real. You know, not acting as if there are a lot of those who merely act like they want a human around but are merely baiting them along. Only using their kind actions as a means to lower their guards to then turn on the human when they least expect it," they said.
"You can not do this, as someone will know that we went missing, as they will look into..." she began saying before a strange beast girl appeared dressed as a mage.
"Master, I have cleaned up the trash as you have ordered," she said, looking at him before turning her gaze to the demon girl.
"Is this trash as well, master?" she asked.
The demon girl looked at the beast girl before her as the girl looked as if she had been through things that were unheard of. Her hands were covered in scars and marks, and fur around them seemed not to be removed but burned off, leaving her hands fully revealed to her. Then there was that look in her eyes as she did not seem to have any sign of life to them at all. They were vacant and void as if she were there, but at the same time, her mind had long since been broken.
"No, this is going to be my new tank as you will be supporting her from now on," they said
"Of course, master," the beast girl replied
"What are you talking about, as there is no way I can become a tank, as demons are good at magic after all. We can not fight on the frontlines, as that is a beast and dragons are good at. We demons are backline fighters that serve as the mages of any group. Our role is to support the front from mid to long range at the very best. A secondary fighter might be possible, but there is no way that a demon can serve as a tank, as we are not built for that role. Are you trying to get me killed?" she yelled.
