'Somehow I don't think Gon took in all the information,' Sakura smiled, stepping down the spiral staircase. Concrete walls blocking her view of everything else. But she could see a light nearing her feet.
"Book" With a puff of smoke, a book appeared floating midair in front of her, following the motions of her finger that a ring was on. "Book,"
When she said it again, it vanished.
The ring made available two spells for those wearing them; Book and Gain. The Book spell allowed a book to emerge out of thin air, similar to a summoning scroll and there were slots within the pages instead of words that were meant to be filled with cards. The main goal of the Greed Island game was to get the one hundred specified slot cards known as 'restricted slots,' which were numbered. Then some pages had no numbering with a total of forty-five slots and those were 'Free slots'.
It was possible to convert items in the game into cards, and that's what reminded you that this was a game because when Sakura felt the sun and wind on her skin and was hit by the smell of grass, she really could not believe this was just a game. It was the perfect simulation of reality.
And the goal of clearing the game was also a reminder of what she was stepping into. To clear Greed Island, a player had to collect all of the specified slot cards. Those would be items that needed to be converted into cards.
Although Sakura wasn't too familiar with technology, Nen, and the entire concept of games like this, she was quick to absorb the information. She knew that if she used the "Gain" spell; it would allow her to turn an item into a card and turn a card back into an item. But once she turned a card back into an item she could not turn that item back into a card and there was a one-minute time limit to put a transformed card into the book before it turned back into an item again.
There was also a limited number of times certain items could be transformed into cards and that was listed in the corner of each card. That was described as the 'card transformation limit'. She had quickly realized a way around it, however. If a player were to die, then their ring and book would be destroyed and the cards within that binder are also lost.
'Still, it's amazing that someone has the ability to make a game like this. I wonder exactly what Gon's dad has to do with all of this?'
When she reached the bottom, Gon was leaning against a pillar patiently waiting. His eyes lit up when he saw her approach.
"Hey, Gon,"
"Sakura, how was it?"
"Fine, I think I've got the basics memorized," She tapped her head much to Gon's delight.
"Really? I barely remembered the explanation,"
Sakura looked around the seemingly empty prairie, but there was a ghosting touch roaming over her, but the presence was at a distance. "We're being watched huh?"
"Yeah, I'm not sure why though,"
She sat down next to Gon, "We can try to figure that out once Killua gets here, shouldn't be too long now,"
Three more players and Killua finally appeared from the tower, but while Sakura and Gon were waiting they learned everyone who came through was aware that someone or something was watching them but chose to ignore it considering that whoever was observing didn't show any skill in concealing their presence from such a distance.
"We're being watched," Killua said looking around carelessly and smiling. "I don't see any nearby towns,"
"Yeah, but everyone headed in the same direction," Gon said, walking up to him.
Killua pointed in the two directions that the other players had headed in and Gon confirmed, that it was also where they felt they were being watched. "We still don't know why they're watching us,"
Sakura dusted off her skirt, "Let's just get going. We won't find out anything more staying here right?"
The two boys followed after the pinkette who started heading in one of the directions, it was where Gon said most of the players had headed. Killua asked Gon if his memory card with the saved data had given him any cards already, though Gon told them there weren't any.
"There was a message from Ging. He told me to enjoy the game,"
It was anticlimactic, to say the least, considering the hassle it took just to get into the game.
"So there weren't any clues?"
Gon shook his head, but he wasn't at all disappointed. Killua sighed, "This doesn't feel like a game,"
"What do you think about the rules?" asked Gon.
"I still don't know enough yet,"
"I get that to clear the game we've got to collect specified slot cards," Sakura chided, but then she frowned. "I'm not sure how we do that,"
"We should start gathering more info-
The presence of the observer became mute when they heard something above, with the sound growing even closer with each passing moment. A bright light shot down and the dust cleared revealing a lanky man with dreadlocks. His narrow eyes locked onto the three who were observing him with questioning and wary gazes.
'His binder's out, so he's got to be a player too,' Thought Sakura.
"This must be your first time playing the game,"
"I wonder if you're right," Killua taunted, this, however, told his companions not to reveal that this was the first time. There was a reason this game had resulted in ending people's lives, what's more, these were hunters, people who could use nen.
The three were completely unaware that they had already given away their disposition as new players. The man had grabbed a card from his book and inserted it in the back, but they couldn't see nor understand what he was doing.
"So your names are Killua, Sakura, and Gon," It was difficult to mask their growing caution.
"How did you know our names?" asked Gon.
The player chuckled. With what he heard, he was aware they were new to the game and that made them all the more vulnerable, "I wonder,"
'You have zero chance if you don't know about spell cards,'
He looked back into his binder took another card and held it up, "Trace on! Attack Sakura!"
The card vanished or rather materialized into light that zipped towards the three but followed after Sakura as she tried to evade it. They heard the other player cackling. No matter which direction she turned, it continued to chase after her. Even when she jumped into the air to get behind it just shot up in her direction.
'What?!'
"You can't run from spells in this game!"
Eventually, the light hit Sakura, but she felt nothing when it impacted. She looked over herself, her body wasn't damaged externally and she couldn't sense anything wrong internally either. Yet there was a purpose behind what happened, and that's what made her worry.
"My attack worked," The unknown player snickered. But he became pale, feeling as if something was crawling over his skin and filling him with terror. His eyes met with pale blue that had once shined so bright and it was like the world around him started to grow dark.
"What did you do to her?"
He realized his mistake, like thinking he was approaching sheep when there were wolves. In a panic, he pulled out another card from the binder and called out. "Return on! Masadora!"
Just as he had appeared in the light, he vanished with it as well instantly. Killua had already attempted to strike him when he was gone.
"Dammit, he got away!"
Gon stared up, "What was that? Nen?"
"I'm not sure," Sakura said, staring up at the sky, "Well he's gone now-ack!"
"Why did you stop!? You should have kept trying to avoid it!"
Sakura wasn't able to arrange an answer with Killua jostling her brain with his vicious shaking methods. So she grabbed hold of his wrists first.
"Killua, I'm fine. I don't feel anything out of the ordinary but if you keep shaking me I'm going to!"
Gon frowned, "But that guy definitely did something to you Sakura. It was probably Nen,"
"I don't think so," said Killua, "More likely it was an in-game ability. That guy took out a card from his binder and when he said 'trace on' the card turned into light that followed Sakura,"
The good thing was if it was an in-game ability then they would be able to use it too, but they had to start figuring out how to play first.
She waved it off, "We should figure out where we can get information to address this problem,"
Her logic was able to coax Gon and Killua to take a step back and continue their journey to further explore this game world. Although her logic had coaxed him into following along, Killua was still thoroughly annoyed by their predicament. They had barely entered the game when something like this happened and it was possible to lose your life in this game.
..
..
They picked up their steps when the outskirts of a city came into view. Bright and lively from the start, with a banner welcoming and introducing itself as the city of prizes; Antokbia. Fliers and notifications plastered on walls and notice boards. Various items for various jobs.
"Is this what most games are like in this world?"
"Adventure games, except you don't get sucked into it," Killua answered while reading a notice to retrieve a lost dog for the Cursed statue of the Goddess of Luck. There wasn't any way that they were aware of yet that would tell them what items were worth pursuing.
"Look over there," Gon had spotted a notice board that had gathered a lot of attention on the opposite side of the street. The towering board advertised, each month listed with different competitions and prizes.
"There's a rock-paper-scissors tournament this month,"
"What are the odds?" Sakura chuckled.
"The prize is the sword of truth,"
"Is that an important item?"
"Probably, look around" Killua gestured with his eyes for them to follow. Out of the different players surrounding them, two were from the same group they had entered the game with. It wasn't just a coincidence of course.
Gon looked to Sakura and Killua, "Are we going to participate?"
"Of course,"
"Then we should try and get a ton of items!" exclaimed Gon.
"We should also gather information," said Killua.
Grumbling, Sakura touched her stomach, "Can we get something to eat first?"
Killua was hungry as well, but his mind wasn't occupied with food at the moment, "We still have to figure out what that guy did to you,"
"But I want to eat first!"
"Sakura seriously!" The ex-assassin nearly headbutted her.
Realizing the conflict ready to spring, Gon jumped ahead of it, "I think I saw a restaurant over there. It's been a while and nothing's happened so far. If Sakura's okay waiting, we should go eat right?"
However contempt, Killua gave in being outvoted. Though his annoyance continued to seeth through to his friend's.
"If you can finish this within thirty minutes, you don't have to pay! In addition, you'll also receive a Galgaida as your prize!"
"Regret asking for something to eat now?"
The heavy aroma of tomato paste, coupled with light spice and steamed meatballs pilled together on a hill of pasta so high that it would have been difficult to see over if the seats were any lower. The cat-faced waiter stood in front of the table to observe them.
"For your information, I'm looking forward to this," Grasping her fork, she gave one warning remark before she began her meal, "What happens after this never leaves the table. And if you make any comments I'll throw you out the window,"
"A little too late for that we already know you can pack it in," Shrugged Killua, he almost heard Sakura snap her fork.
"Begin!"
Forks in hand, Gon, Killua, and Sakura nearly inhaled their dishes. With their limited window of opportunity to train, they had to limit themselves to essentials like eating and sleeping to focus on their goal. They had to be quick with meals and short on sleep and there was hardly a time they had stopped in between training that even while in the same building they were like strangers.
Killua glanced at Sakura clearing through the mountain on her plate as she did with her punches. When she noticed him staring, her cheeks stuffed and sauce around her face, her fierce expression was comical to him.
"You can't say anything,"
"We didn't take any blood oaths," Killua grumbled before filling his mouth again with food. They were on a time crunch and couldn't afford to argue with each other and distract from the race. They could, however, try to get information.
"Hey chef, can you use magic?"
The cat chef gave an odd expression, "Magic?"
"Whose the most knowledgeable person in this town?" added Gon.
Again the answer was the same look of confusion, and they realized that they probably weren't going to get the answers they were looking for here.
"He's probably an in-game character," said Killua,
"What does that mean?" asked Sakura.
"They can only answer specified questions when asked. If we want information, we're going to have to go around the town and just keep asking,"
Gon smiled, "Killua, you sure know a lot about games huh?"
"You two just don't know anything, so it seems that way," The white-haired boy snickered as his friends pouted in his direction.
"Yeah right," muttered Sakura.
Before thirty minutes had passed, the friends had reached the bottom of the mountain and hardly left a sliver of sauce to identify what was served to them. The chef handed each of them a card of a Galgaida. It was a fish with a wide mouth, red scales, and an unappetizing appearance. However, following the bottom of the card, this was one of the island's delicacies with properties to extend life.
"This is typical in games too huh?"
Killua was the first to notice the numbers and letters in the corner of the cards on the sides of the name, "1217, F-185. What does this mean?"
"Is this your first time seeing a card?" The chef didn't wait for an answer, "The left number is the item's card number, and the sequence on the right ranks how difficult it is to obtain. There are ten ranks from SS to H. F would be the third easiest. The number next to the rank is the item maximum transformation limit,"
Gon held up his card for inspection, "That means this card….?"
"Is junk," finished Killua.
Sakura brought out her binder and put her card in one of the free slots, "Well, even so, I just ate my weight in pasta; I'm not throwing it away,"
Gon and Killua followed her example and put the card inside their own binders. They stood up to leave when the chef called them back.
"The pasta dish was free but the sodas you ordered weren't,"
"Oh okay here," Killua took out a bill from his pocket to pay but the chef just gave him that odd stare. He held up a card for the three, this time the image showed money on it.
"Money on the island is like this; what you have is worthless paper,"
Sakura slumped, "Oh boy,"
..
..
Unable to pay with regular money and nearly getting turned in to the police, Gon, Sakura, and Killua found themselves in the kitchen of the restaurant, washing piles of dishes to pay. Killua was especially fumed, almost cracking each glass that came his way.
"I didn't know you had to turn money into cards!"
Sakura huffed, "You'd think that would be part of the basic introduction!"
Gon sighed, "But I wonder how can we get money then?"
Because of their offense, several employees were instructed to watch them until they paid off their debt, one of them said, "If you take a card to the Trade Shop, they will exchange it for money,"
The information was worth the effort and Gon, Sakura, and Killua already had their next destination set. With everything, they still had to learn, and with the monthly competition still, a while away, they would be able to take some time to gather information.
"If we had just exchanged the Galgaida for money in the first place we could have avoided doing dishes," Killua kicked the stones under his feet.
"But we probably wouldn't have gotten that information if we didn't," Gon reasoned.
Sakura shook her head, "That's true. Is this how most games work when trying to find information?"
"It's common in games to have you do a certain task to trigger another event,"
Their feet shook beneath the ground and a small tremor ran through their bodies, while small shrieks of surprise projected a situation of either shock or horror. The three joined the gathering on the other side of the road to discover it was a combination. A familiar yet unrecognizable figure with limbs sprawled out split in two from the now nonexistent torso, flesh, and tissue scattered with the smell of smoke and blood.
Killua felt a drop of sweat fall down his face, "He entered the game with us,"
"There was nothing wrong with him a while ago," Gon whispered.
Sakura examined the remains from her distance, smoke was emitting from where the body was split in two or rather tattered. "It's like he exploded outwards,"
"Yeah, that's what happened," The man next to them said with a look of terror, "His body exploded from the inside,"
"This is a game where we risk our lives," Sakura said with an unwilling smile. She watched as the body was engulfed with light and then disappeared from where it once lay. Without even leaving the splatter of blood and shreds of organs; as if it never happened.
"He probably went back to the real world," said Killua.
Gon's fists clenched at his side as his stomach dropped with realization weighing in it, "Hey Sakura…..the magic used on you earlier…..
"I….." With her trembling hand, she touched her stomach, "….don't know,"
A fourth individual interrupted from behind them, a man with tanned skin and unkempt hair on both his head and face with a light stubble, and narrow eyes that weren't necessarily honest, but held no ill-intent. "Don't worry. There's no such spell in this game. He died from another player's Nen,"
"This was Nen?" Sakura felt her chest grow lighter. She had been momentarily furious with herself for thinking she had unknowingly invited death through her door and mistaking it for something more banal.
"Does that mean other players are trying to kill each other?" asked Killua.
"Player hunting,"
"Player hunting?"
"I can explain later," said the stranger, "Are you interested in teaming up? We know a sure way to clear the game, and I can tell you about the spell cast on you,"
A certainty to clear the game wasn't what had them lingering around the hook but the method of undoing what had been done to Sakura. They were still at the critical stage of information gathering and this was a likely chance they wouldn't receive it again. The man had made his agenda almost suspiciously clear, to recruit players, meaning there were more, however, he was not willing to go into detail with just the three of them.
"This game is difficult, unpleasant, and frightening. Once you realize that, you'll be more than willing to accept our offer, and it's your first time playing so you could use the information anyway,"
"What makes you think it's our first-time player?" Killua didn't want to give away a fact as dangerous as being a new players in this game, especially after what he saw and what had happened to Sakura. Their ages were already enough to incite targets on their backs.
"Book," The man summoned his binder and the three instinctively jumped back; recalling their last encounter with a player who had done this to them.
"From this, I can deduce that you're first-time players. An experienced player would react by summoning his binder. Because you need spell cards to defend yourself,"
"Then the spell cast on Sakura….?" trailed Gon.
"Could only be stopped with other cards," finished Killua.
"Even when you aren't carrying cards you should still summon your binder. It's an important bluff. Book,"
They approached the man once he reverted his book, and Gon asked how a player could obtain spell cards as they had seen.
"You can obtain spell cards by going to Masadora, the city of magic,"
Sakura held her chin, "That other guy also mentioned Masadora before he vanished,"
Killua glanced at his friends, lingering on Gon, "Well?"
"It's better to get as much information as we can, and I'm worried about the spell on Sakura,"
"Okay, lead the way, old man,"
"Call me Nickes,"
..
..
..
They followed him to where other players were already gathered, all of them had entered the game with the three. There was the man they met during the screening, Puhat, and a young girl who looked around Killua and Gon's age, with blonde pigtails, wide pink eyes, and wearing a frilly pink dress; all coupled with a neutral expression that made her very doll-like.
Nickes was not the only one who had been trying to recruit players for his alliance, there were several other members as well. When it was confirmed that everyone was present for the meeting a lanky man with a sunken face, steel blonde hair, and gold eyes behind glasses in a white coat addressed them.
"Let's get started,"
Nickes cleared his throat, "Another player was killed, he entered the game with you. His stomach exploded. This was the work of the bomber,"
"Bomber?"
The man with the glasses spoke, "The victims aren't killed by spells. There's no spell in the game capable of injuring people," A quiet breath left Sakura's lips. There were no spells in the game that could be used to kill or incapacitate, which meant that the spell cast on her had to serve another purpose and Nickes explained exactly what that was.
"The one cast one you was an inspection spell. Either trace or Adhesion. Once an enemy uses this on you he will know everything about you."
'Trace,' That was what Sakura remembered that player shouting before she was chased by the light. At least now they knew what dealt.
"Some players wait at the entrance point for new players to arrive and cast spells on them. Then as soon as that player obtains a valuable card, they show up and steal it. In some cases, they kill their target,"
Sinking her right canine into her bottom lip, Sakura replayed that malicious player through her memory. If this was her case, then as far as collecting cards would go, she shouldn't bother if they were just going to be stolen.
Puhat chided in, "Kill? Like the guy who just died? I won't be that easy to kill,"
"No, he was killed by something else," The man in glasses explained, "There is a violent faction hunting players. This was done by one of them…the bomber,"
"In this game, there are three ways to acquire cards. Do you know what they are?"
Gon didn't have to give it much thought, "Find them yourself?"
"Trade with other players,"
"Steal them," chided Sakura and Killua.
"Yes, however, the number of players stealing cards has increased. That's due to the card's difficulty level to obtain and the limited transformation system. Players who can't attain the cards themselves tend to steal them and if met with resistance, they kill their targets. When they die their ring disappears and the cards are lost. However it increases the transformation limit of that type of card,"
It was explained to them that the system of being unable to take a player's cards if you kill them was meant as a means to prevent players from hunting each other and turning the game into a battle royal, however with the other rules in place including the cards system, there's been a recoil. After the ten years that Greed Island has been released, there would only be an increase in this type of activity since no one has been able to beat the game. That was easy to believe, given that some players were even said to have settled themselves in the game and gave up returning to the real world.
"That's why we're trying to end this mess," said Nickes, "We're recruiting allies to clear this game,"
Puhat then asked, "Which of the three methods are you going to use to clear the game?"
"Steal them," Nickes answered honestly. "But we won't use violence to reach our goal,"
"Spells then, am I right?" The man who asked this was another one of the players who had come into the game with them. A tall man in a blue suit, with tanned skin and an indifferent demeanor.
"Yes. There are certain spells for taking cards and there are cards that defend against those spells. We'll focus on monopolizing these cards; using the card transformation limit. This is the only way to clear the game."
Another member of the alliance, Assam then explained, "Many players have come to the same conclusion. Even if you search for cards, they'll eventually be stolen. Because this game is based on players taking cards from each other. We will ensure that we can take cards from other players while mitigating our risk of losing cards,"
Puhat interrupted once again, still unconvinced, "You forgot. Upon clearing the game how are you going to split the reward?"
It was then revealed that they were not the first ones hired by Battera to clear the game. The 50 billion reward was counting for everyone and there was going to be a split among everyone who helped. This alliance by far had fifty-three players. It was determined that they would need two months to collect the spell cards and one for the ones they needed. With the number of players cooperating it certainly seemed plausible.
"Of course, if you join us, we'll remove any spells cast on you," Sakura's eyes met the faded eyes through the glasses and for some reason, she felt barely a sliver of uncertainty in the offer.
But a few of the other players already agreed to join them. And then it was the three friend's turn to state their answer. However, it wasn't Sakura or Killua who were jumping to reply; because there was only one person's decision that mattered in this case of how the game was going to be played.
Gon had been unusually silent throughout the explanation and now his eyes were just burning, "Sorry Sakura. I'm out. I'm playing this game on my own,"
He turned and marched away, anger in each step with his friends quickly jogging after him.
..
..
..
Gon walked through the city with no destination in mind, yet he kept going with a purpose. Perhaps as a means to walk off his anger, but Sakura and Killua followed closely behind him. The air was peaking with warmth and the light was already fading in a dark orange by the time he turned back to them.
He gave a sheepish smile, "I'm sorry guys,"
They stared at each other in confusion and then back at Gon, "What?"
"I just couldn't take it anymore and now because of me, Sakura you're stuck with that spell,"
Sakura's lips rounded, "Oh. Don't worry Gon, it's not going to kill me and there are ways to remove it,"
Gon still looked disheartened, "But…..you're both playing this game to help me find my dad,"
There was a moment of chance to reassure Gon that wasn't the reason, and he would've received two if they had enough courage to say it at the time, but neither could. Instead, Killua diverted attention.
Killua frowned, "By the way, why were you so angry?
There were moments Gon would have outbursts when provoked but when he became silently angry, it was an indication that he had been pushed past the limit and it was just a matter of time before he erupted. It was rare for someone with an honest demeanor to do something like that. So it emphasized the severity of the situation.
"Because they had nothing but bad things to say about Ging's game, like how it's based on stealing and killing," Gon's lip was curved into an obvious pout. "I want to do what Ging said and enjoy the game. When I started, I knew it wouldn't be easy. That was because I thought all the players enjoyed playing the game. People have died. But it's the player's mentality and not the game that scares me. They're willing to hurt others just to get cards,"
Killua threw his hands behind his head, "I think it makes sense,"
Gon frowned at him, "Killua, do you mean that?"
"That's why this game is meant for hunters,"
Sakura sighed, "Well I can't say I disagree; everyone gets to decide how they want to play once inside right?"
"But…"
"Killing is wrong; I agree with you on that," Killua said, "But what if two players have a fair fight with predetermined rules and the winner gets to take a card?"
"Th-That's acceptable,"
Grinning Killua turned around, hands behind his head. "So don't worry about it so much, let's just play in a way that's fun for us,"
With vigor, Sakura nodded her head, excitement burning in her eyes, "Yeah. We'll enjoy this game together. And Gon; we're here because we want to be with you."
It was a selfish and simple reason, but it was their reason, and that made it enough. A gesture of what lay behind something greater than an explanation.
The block they stood at was becoming quieter, distant to each of them as they became enclosed with their thoughts. When this happened, they forgot that the hands of a clock still moved every minute, that the wind blew and outside noise continued to bounce around. Their most vulnerable, some would call it. But it certainly wasn't peaceful. Yet a welcome disturbance.
Killua decided to move, without knowing where he was heading and Gon's voice turned him around.
"Thanks," He stood behind them with a smile. Gon always smiled, but this didn't convey innocence as usual. There was no naivety behind this grin or winsome nature but it was pure. And so bright that they nearly looked away.
".….Killua; Sakura; I'm glad you decided to come with me, I'm glad I got to meet you!"
Again time moved without their notice.
Killua was the first to turn his head away, his stunned expression vanishing and his back hiding anything that he wasn't brave enough to reveal. "Stop it, idiot! That's embarrassing,"
"Why? I meant it,"
"Whatever, let's just go already!"
Gon followed after his white-haired friend, passing Sakura. Her head was kept low and her eyes hidden under her growing bangs. He felt the air, it was like suddenly entering a cold climate and then meeting heat and then cold once more.
"Sakura?"
Bells chimed in a distance they could hear but not see and they swept up in the small space between them once again. Just as they had been when Gon spoke. They remembered then why Sakura's eye color could be called emerald. Because emotions swirled inside those eyes were like a clear polish giving the brightest shine.
"Gon, Killua..." It was difficult at times to realize just how fragile Sakura's voice was when she often laced it with firmness and brought it down like a whip on the skin to serve as a reminder that she was not a fragile presence to be disregarded. But it was not as a means of disillusion. Because it was not the first time she had spoken to them like this; free of severity and still managing to carry her words.
But she didn't continue right away as they thought she would. With a few silent steps, she stood close in front. No one moved except for her.
Gon's expression kept, almost expressionless with childish charm, only eyes blinking as his head tilted to the side, like a butterfly wing brushing and then assuring warmth pressed for barely three seconds leaving cold. He reached up and touched his cheek.
On the other end for Killua; the repeat of what happened to Gon was like being dosed with a cold bucket of ice on a burn wound. A constant shift between comfort and discomfort that you couldn't decide if you wanted to pull away or stay. Unable to decide, he didn't move at all.
When Sakura stepped away from Killua, a pretty fox-like grin on her mouth; both remained silent-stunned and rather hopeful for an explanation.
But she simply strolled through the gap between Gon and Killua, "Let's get going!"
Finally, Killua felt his face grow hot and he wanted to get rid of his turtleneck so he could breathe again. He wanted to scream at Sakura, call her an idiot, and every other name he could think of, but his throat was too dry to talk and he was afraid of what might come out if his words weren't from his head.
"Um, Sakura?" Gon called. His hand reached forward and she turned back, waiting patiently for them.
"I'm glad, that I got to meet you too," Her tone was gentle but definitive. "So thanks!"
There was a heavy wave behind that drizzle statement, but it was enough to quench her friend's thirst.
Killua averted his eyes, visibly clenching his teeth, and briskly started stomping past her only to stop two steps away and look back, waiting. "D-Dammit, just say it next time,"
She grinned wider, "Okay!"
"Let's get going,"
Gon smiled, meeting up with them until they were walking with steps unconsciously in sync.
Unaware of the ruby eyes watching them from the balcony of the building on their right. Touched and irked by the scene that played out right before their presence. The replay in mind, was enough to bring a sinister smirk that cracked the perfect mask and ruined an innocent image.
'The friendship of two young boys and girl; like a soft burning flame. Can't decide if I want to add oil or dirt,'
