Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: New Beginning

A tall, slim, woman, near the age of elderly, whipped her blonde-slightly grey hair back as she turned off the stove.

"Astrid! Food's ready!"

Down came another woman, in her 20's, who looked radically identical to the older woman. She sat down as the older woman had set out two plates of rice on the dinner table. Astrid began to dig in.

"Thanks for the food!"

She finished it all in a matter of seconds and downed her drink.

"Thanks for letting me stay, Mom."

"It's no worries, dear. You are my special daughter. No matter what happens, you'll always be welcome here."

Earlier that month, Astrid had been struggling on paying her rent. She worked as a bartender, and was quite skilled at it. However, the owner of the shop was a corrupt man, hence he would continually harass Astrid. Of course, she would refuse to do anything with him, yet this resulted in the man firing her. Astrid ended up getting kicked out of her apartment and had no other choice but to return to her mother's house until she found another job.

Astrid stood up to leave to room, but someone rang the doorbell. She walked to the door and opened it.

"Who is i---"

She felt a sharp pain in her stomach and held it with her hands. She looked up to see a hooded man, then at her hands to see them covered in blood.

'Huh?'

All that Astrid could hear was footsteps of someone running away and her mother's uneasy screaming while she dropped to the ground and closed her eyes.

'A real shitty way to die. Good job Astrid.'

She thought to herself as she gradually lost her life force.

'What a waste. I guess it's all over now.'

There she lay until her heart was slowed to a stop, and all she felt was an empty void.

'Am I actually dead yet? What, is this some nerdy reincarnation stuff?'

What felt like hours later, she began to wonder if her joke was actually true. Her mind was floating through nothing, waiting for something to happen.

At last, Astrid saw light. It wasn't any ordinary light though. It was a faint, dim light.

'I don't think it's supposed to look like that... nevertheless, if it is, i'm willing to take the chance of another life.'

Her mind drifted to the light and when she reached it, she woke up in a dumpster in an alley. It was raining heavily and dark, which she guessed was the reason the light she was dark. Astrid hopped out of the trash and walked into the streets. Her eyes widen to see how different the area looks from her previous location. There were no cars, but there were horse-looking creatures and there weren't just humans walking about, there were elves, demi-humans, and more. Astrid then looked into the sky and stepped back in shock. There were two moons, one green, and the other blue. She had truly made it to another world.

The woman ran into the nearest building to get away from the rain. The building had a large sign that said .

Once she entered, she was greeted by a large number of people. Inside looked like the usual bar, so she felt welcome.

'For starters, I need information.'

She walked to the front desk and greeted the man standing there. He was tall, quite pale, blonde, and his clothes were very neat.

"Welcome to Kenta's Tavern, what can I get for you?"

"Well, Do you guys serve hospitality?"

The man smiles.

"Follow me."
