"Hai Chao, you here?" Jiu Zhi took the cigarette out of his mouth with his right hand and said to Hai Chao.
He only had four fingers on his right hand, and the story of the missing finger was a long one.
Hai Chao nodded at Jiu Zhi, then stretched lazily, and teased Jiu Zhi, "Why the hell do you always have that cigarette and never smoke it? Just sitting there in your mouth, it's begging for a beating."
Jiu Zhi extended his right hand, looked at that last cigarette of his, and said with a chuckle, "I'm out of smokes, and I'm reluctant to smoke this last one. Having it in my mouth is a way to satisfy my craving."
Hai Chao smiled and didn't say anything else. He turned his head to look at the zombies on the river.
A layer of fog had formed over the river. With the sunrise, the fog gradually thinned, revealing zombies floating on the river. Unmoving.
But he knew this zombie wasn't dead. It floated on the water's surface like some fish playing dead.
