Xaratho was a young boy when he lost his family. He was in the car with his parents on the way to school when Doomsday attacked their city. The creature was incredibly powerful and was fighting the Justice League, but even they couldn't defeat it. Xaratho watched in horror as the monster killed his family, leaving him the only survivor.
He was left in a coma for 15 years and when he finally woke up, he saw the people worshipping the superheroes who had failed to save his family. Xaratho was filled with anger and resentment towards these supposed heroes who were unable to protect the people he loved. He became obsessed with gaining power and decided to build a time machine and a machine to absorb the powers of the heroes he despised.
Xaratho went back in time and was able to absorb the powers of the superheroes he encountered. He did not kill them, but instead left them lifeless and powerless. It was not enough for him to simply have their powers, he needed to take away their source of power entirely. He believed that only then could he finally have the strength to protect the people he loved and seek revenge on the creatures that had destroyed his family.
However, Xaratho's quest for power had blinded him to the true nature of heroism. He believed that power was the only way to make a difference, but he failed to see that true heroism lies in selflessness and the willingness to fight for what is right, even in the face of overwhelming odds. Xaratho's journey would ultimately lead him to confront this truth, but not before he had caused great harm to those around him.
