Chapter 29 - Breaching the Shadows

The moment I hung up on Aiden, I bit my lower lip in frustration. Why did that guy always have to be so hot-headed? He had no idea how dangerous it was here. But I didn't have time to worry about him—I needed to get this done before everything went up in flames.

I glanced down at the wristwatch Alpha gave me. Finally, the small face flickered to life. An amber light flashed, followed by the small red text GO

This is it.

Staying low, I crawled through the tall, unkempt grass toward the hidden tunnel door near the cliffside. The entrance was an old, forgotten passageway completely buried under thick vines and heavy foliage—a route the Impaler perimeter guards knew nothing about.

I pushed the heavy wooden door open slowly. Cold air rushed out, carrying the scent of damp moss and wet rust. Slipping inside, I pulled the door shut behind me before anyone could spot me from the bluff.
