"And so did Skai!" Yasmin lashed out. "Or did your selfish ass even bother to think for once? And so did your brothers. You weren't the only one who lost someone."
Yasmin sobbed softly, her voice muffled. "I try, okay. I tried but I could not."
"Yas," Shawn's voice broke. "Ain't I important to you? I love you."
"You are. My friend is important as much as you are and I cannot be the object of pain for her. Neither can I let my relationship nor my lover bring her so much pain."
"Then you won't think about us?" Shawn's pained voice asked.
"I am thinking about us! You have a chance to fix things but you chose this high road and path. If you can't see this then…"
"Then what?"
"Then we cannot be together. I'm breaking up, Shawn. I-I… I can't do this. I'm sorry."
"What? Yas…" he tried calling out to her, pulling the phone from his ear to check the call but she was already gone, the line going dead before he could finish.
