Skai felt a pang of disappointment, a feeling she couldn't quite explain. "Oh, alright," she said, forcing a smile. "It was good catching up, though."
"Definitely," Ethan agreed, his gaze locking with hers for a brief moment before he turned to Jared. "Nice meeting you once more, Jared."
"Likewise," Jared replied with a nod.
With a final wave goodbye, Ethan turned and walked over to the counter to place his orders.
Skai let her gaze trail him, her thoughts filling her mind. Unknown to her, Jared sensed her shift in mood and leaned back in his chair.
After some moment, Jared raised a brow at her, a playful glint in his eyes. "So, Skai," he said in a teasing voice, "ADHD, huh?"
Skai's blush deepened and she averted her gaze back to him.
The memory of her earlier excuse flooded back to her. She had used her diagnosed ADHD as a cover-up for forgetting Ethan's call, hoping to deflect any suspicion of how terrible her night went.
