Rowan had no way to transmit detailed instructions to his children, and this was not a problem that he had anticipated happening. Before crossing through four layers of the void, he had no idea what he was going to be discovering or where the journey might take him, and so it was nearly impossible to create any fail-safe in the event that he found trouble.
Not knowing what to expect, the only thing that Rowan could do before entering the deeper layers of the void was to make sure he was ready for any eventualities that might occur along the way, yet, how was he ever supposed to be prepared for everything?
Rowan was used to pain, but he was not a masochistic person. Challenges were fine, but he did not think he could solve everything… at least not yet.
With his limitless ability for growth, it was inevitable that one day, if he did not perish, he would become truly omnipotent, but for now, he could not challenge everything, so instead, Rowan took a different route.
