Third person POV
"What was that name?" Kimizuki asked about Myeong's name.
"That one is Korean," replied Atsushi back, "and she is a Korean."
The Shinoa squad were a bit amazed by it.
After that, Yuichiro looked at Atsushi. "Atsushi-kun, I thought I would never see you again after you left for another faction." Atsushi then smiled. "No, I'm here for you." Yuichiro was stunned, but he was happy to see him again.
And then, Shinoa approached Atsushi and said to him, "It seems that you have never forgotten us, did you?"
She said that with a little, slight smirk on her face, causing Yuichiro to be a bit annoyed with her.
"Yes, I did not, of course," Atsushi said to her.
Watching his chat with the Shinoa squad, the Tanjung squad was stunned at his close friendship with them.
"Also, Kai, you're a son of Yeager-san?" Yoichi asked while glancing at Kai, who was roasting ready-to-eat meat rations.
"Yes, I'm Kai Ray," Kai responded back.
"Oh, man, Kai-san…" Yuichiro wheezed, "…the way your spirit guardian Tō hurled his briefcase at that beastman was unbelievable. If Guren-san were to hear that, he would think I'm losing my mind…"
Atsushi, Basuki, Myeong, Mitsuba, and even Kimizuki laughed at that.
"I'll pay a lot to see his reaction…!" Mitsuba wiped a tear in laughter.
Shortly thereafter, it is now sundown, and nighttime came. So, both squads camped out together on the ground for the night. They shared one campfire, and Yuichiro was now sleeping on the ground in order to face his demon. This was after the Shinoa squad introduced themselves to Myeong and Basuki. While Yuichiro was sleeping to face his demon, the two squads are interacting with one another. Both sides were sharing each other's stories about themselves. Atsushi asked the Shinoa squad about their experience of being tortured in their faction's interrogation on them.
"It was brutal and painful," Yoichi answered back with some unpleasant feelings about that experience.
"Yeah, me too as well," added Kimizuki.
"Oh, we understand," Basuki responded with sympathy.
Atsushi and Myeong then expressed their sympathy for them.
Yoichi and Kimizuki were happy to see his and his squad's sympathy for them.
Shinoa and Mitsuba were stunned at their action, though their feelings of that time of the torture of two of their comrades remained unpleasant.
Then, later, Yuichiro was in a void, which set in his childhood. Atsushi and his squad are also asleep nearby due to exhaustion. In that void, his parents didn't like him because they considered him as a child of the devil. Even so, his father tried to kill him with a knife like a maniac. Although he managed to escape, Yuichiro didn't, and his parents are now dead before him.
And then, he was in an empty void, and his demon appeared before him, testing him. But the weird thing is that Atsushi and Saya appeared in the scene, but they were in the shadows and couldn't interact with them. Upon seeing how Yuichiro was struggling to make his demon his friend, Atsushi and Saya were stunned, with Atsushi recounting that scene back from his previous life.
Saya nodded. "Yes, it was."
She looked at Atsushi. "Your heart is too pure for a demon to try to snatch your soul, added with the memories of your past life and your Christian Baptist faith."
"Yeah, I was quite lucky…" Atsushi nodded.
But then, after Yuichiro managed to befriend his demon, Atsushi and Saya were pulled from the void and back to reality.
Shortly thereafter, Kimizuki was in a void consisting of his childhood, which is not a pleasant one. Like Yuichiro, he has to face his own demon in an empty void after the void of his childhood memory. This time, Myeong and Balam appeared from a distance, but just like with Atsushi and Saya, they couldn't interact with Kimizuki or his demon. Then, seeing how Kimizuki was struggling so much to befriend his demon, Myeong and Balam were stunned.
"No way…" Myeong gasped in shock.
"That demon is sadistic towards him, too," Balam noted grimly. "The demons are feeding on the trauma of humans for their powers."
Myeong then nodded in agreement.
And then, by the time Kimizuki and his demon became friends, Myeong and Balam were pulled from the void and back to reality.
The next day, Atsushi and Myeong woke up before the others in their RSA squad, while the Shinoa squad had already woken up a few minutes earlier. Atsushi and Myeong then looked at each other in unease.
"We're so lucky…" Atsushi muttered.
"…to have something within us that is not demons." Myeong completed his sentence.
Basuki and Kai also woke up, yawning and stretching their arms.
