As childish as it sounded, you do not ever predict or imagine the death of your parents, and most especially my mother. I had always seen her as an eternal figure, since she was always so playful and youthful and was only serious when she needed to be. She always chased me around an all fours in order to encourage to me to start crawling and walking as much as I could. She bathed with me from the moment I was born until I could at least keep my head up, and I was the one that she constantly picked up and assaulted with kisses as much as she could. She was the one who slept next to me since Hana insisted that she could only sleep on our father's chest, she always pulled me into bed with her when she was tired and held me as if I was a doll that little girls slept with, and she always took me everywhere with her. So how could I possibly go anywhere now without her? As soon as I had started working in the palace, I used to run back home al the time during my lunch breaks and I would have my mother on my arm to show her off near the palace despite her own extensive history in the palace. She was still a very well-liked and respected person in the place and she was always especially happy when I had made time for her at work. I let her secretly feed me again, to help me sort out my scrolls and organise my work just like she did with our father, and I could at least have her to myself for a few hours under my father's ever watchful gaze, and that was only when she wasn't constantly running after my younger brother, raising my twin sisters and spoiling her nephews rotten. How could I function without her now? She always insisted on taking care of me as if I was a child, so now what use was I without her? Who on earth could I confide in now? Who else had the talent to make me open up whilst consoling me on my siblings never-ending torture and schemes that they had against me? Hwan's antics constantly pulled me out of work to help him, Hana practically stalked me in the kingdom when she accompanied her husband until I ran into her and I had no choice but to accompany her. And the twins always wanted to me to take them everywhere and do everything with them since my father had gotten really busy these past few years as soon as my mother left the palace for good. Who else could give me the space that I needed and keep my spirits up like she did? Without my mother, I was nothing at all.
But for some reason, my heart really went out to my hard -working uncle who didn't know a single day of rest at all. When he wasn't overlooking all to the issues in the village, he was constantly travelling around the kingdom for provision, job searches, food distributions and building materials to improve the houses here in the village that had trouble keeping the rain out and would heat up in the summer. And it was very obvious to everyone how much he missed and treasured his sister, to the point where he would be around her all the time and let her tend to him as Hana would. In fact, he was only truly happy when he had both my sister and mother running around after him to take care of him as they did to Geom during his wife's sickness. But if my mother wasn't accompanying my father everywhere, then you would surely find her with her brother, hand in hand and by the lake. So it made sense that my uncle couldn't bare to part with his beloved sister, even in death. But to me, he was more than my uncle, he was my second father when my own father was absent. I had suffered a lot for that, and it was my uncle who rebuild my confidence . He trained me both mentally and physically, and it was from him that I learned what it was to become a true man since he had a close relationship with my grandfather, unlike my own father. He was the life and soul of the village that he had put his all into, that I now vowed that I was going to help Geom with in return for everything that man had done for me.
Bur my father, my poor unloved father who had constantly been knocked down from the day he was born, she could never stand to let my mother out of his sight, even in his death. I already know that he took her down with her without getting an autopsy done at all. And my poor uncle mustn't have been able to stand it at all, he couldn't have been able to bear the thought of living without my mother either. But when I opened the door and I saw my poor father at the end of the spear that had killed them, I really could not help myself but to make my way over to my unvalued father who always felt lonely in the absence of his loved ones that he couldn't part from even in death. Even though I did always have doubts about his behaviour towards my mother, I could always tell that he was so completely devoted to her as he was to her brother. He loved them both bone deep enough to do everything that they asked for and more. My pitiful father, my lonely father, my father who could have been so much more than what he was if he wasn't treated the way he was. I took my father into my arms and for the first time since I was a child, I cried with everything that I had inside me for him alone before I could even really begin to process what had just happened to my family. I was really trying my hardest to contain myself, but before I knew it, Hana had already stormed up to her and slapped her a few times as hard as she could before she tried to strangle that woman in her grief. Not even her own husband or brother-in-law tried to stop her as they were both too consumed in their grief for their parent they had ever known and raised them by himself. It was me that had to pull my sister off of our aunt before she killed her, it was me that ran to Hwan as soon as I could and it was me who had to stay with my sisters all night long with my father's childhood plans for me in mind all night long as i now wanted revenge for him and the miserable life he lead for so long. And it was all in his diaries that he kept under his pillow in his bed that he would write into all day long before he slept.
