Not only was Cheryl already more powerful than Ash in every way possible, but her potential was still very high, so her growth was not just limited to the power she currently had.
Just as Ash would be improving herself, Cheryl would likely be doing the same in the future.
Their levels of dedication toward improving themselves and their methods to achieve it were quite different, but it was true that Cheryl already had a head start and came from a family bloodline that had blessed her with many advantages over so many Balancers.
They may have had different starting points and a lot of other differences, but they did have similar goals and motivations that moved them.
Perhaps those very things could be what allow them to get closer and to be able to depend on each other one day.
They both wished for stability and freedom without having to worry about their past coming back to haunt them, so it was a thought that kept appearing in the head of Ash a lot.
