"What is it, then?" he asked, resisting the urge to laugh at her sudden embarrassment.
Levina sighed, having nothing else to say. What would she have told him? That she was mad at him for giving her hope with just a kiss?
"I'm just mad at myself," she said, with her shoulders slouched in defeat.
When she looked up, Lucien was staring at her with an oddly calm expression on his face.
"What is it?" she quizzed.
"I am considering all the possible ways to get you atop my horse," he said with a deadpanned look.
"Why?"
He took her hand. "Because we are going for a ride."
Levina stared back at him, unsure of how to respond to his request. A part of her just wanted to count her losses and say no, to stay away from him forever, because the more time she spent with Lucien, the harder it became for her to leave him. And the other part of her wanted to spend as much time as possible with Lucien, to make the best out of their time together, at least until he belonged to someone else.
