Chapter 1 - CHAPTER ONE

PLATE OF TRUTH

A peculiar breeze swept through the capital, carrying with it an eerie stillness that threatened to erupt into chaos at any moment. The atmosphere was thick with anticipation as nobles and servants alike awaited the judge's final verdict.

The royal court was filled with tension ,the judge was constantly wiping his soaked face thou the weather was cold and dull ."Your Lordship," he said carefully, "I implore you to address her Highness by title until she is proven guilty. Despite his composed tone, fear consumed him.

I've been offered to the butcher, he thought. There is no middle ground. Either I offend the king or i lose favour with the ministers. This king was not like his father failure would not mean disgrace it would mean death.

"The crimes of her Highness are evident," the Third Prince declared, with an angry voice. "She ordered the murder of innocent peasants."

"General," the judge said, steadying himself, "Give this court an account of what occurred on that day."A figure endowed in bronze armor rose. A purple regal cape rested upon her shoulders, its royal insignia gleaming faintly in the dim light every eye followed her. With a steady motion, she removed the cape and handed it to a subordinate.

A murmur rippled through the court. That insignia was sacred granted only by the king to appointed general. It could not be held trial and be dishonored.

"I trust the court understands," she said evenly, "this garment cannot stand witness beside me."She turned toward the doorway and bowed twice before speaking."I cannot justify the loss of life," she said. "Nor can I comfort those who have lost their loved ones."Then she paused briefly."I did not give the order. But the swords that were drawn… were under my command."

The courtroom was suddenly frrozen in time.

"I will not claim innocence." The judge stared at her, stunned.she intend to drag me to the gallows with her.His jaw tightened even if it cost him everything, he would choose survival.
