Ficool

Chapter 19 - 19) No Show

Me and Grandma sat in the dark room. We both knew at this point that she wasn't coming. Though it isn't true unless one of us says it.

I know what's going to happen next. I'm going back after I convince Grandma to stay. She used to be a great fighter. Now she can barely hold her weapon.

We both know this.

After a very long silence in a very dark room one of us finally broke the silence.

My Grandma leaned back in her chair, sighing deeply. "You're going back to look for her aren't you?"

She looked at me with conflicted eyes. I nodded.

She sighed again. "I'm not going with you. That right?"

She didn't look at me but at the ceiling.

I waited. I honestly didn't expect this approach. Though I'm not going to turn it down of course.

It's not that I don't know all the possible dangers. Nor am I thinking that the powers I now have are enough to protect me. That would be idiotic.

Even if I didn't have them I would do the same things that I've done.

I know my limits. I'll know when to hightail it out. Though there is a plan Anita made. As long as I follow it, even the me before would be fine.

Eventually Grandma broke the silence again. "Are you leaving now or in the morning?"

I guess that is the only question at this point. "I'm leaving now."

She chuckled and sat up straight looking at me. "Dahm it. You were gonna leave while I was sleeping if I didn't agree! Am I right?"

I looked away. "Yep." That was the plan.

We were again quiet. She sighed again. "Well I guess I would have done the same. I may not have given myself a choice to begin with."

I looked back at her. She smiled at me. Although a bit pained. She grabbed both of my hands. "Now listen here. No matter what plans my daughter has made, they can go wrong. That child is very smart though she doesn't know everything. Things had to go wrong somewhere for us to end up here."

"Now you go there. If things get to over your head you get help or get out. We will figure things out. If need be you can go to the head guard of the city. I trained that dahm Dwarf myself. The least they can do is help me out."

I chuckled. That 'dahm Dwarf' is the best fighter in the city's guard. They garner respect everywhere they go. Grandma is probably the only person that would dare talk about them like that.

At least to their face.

I nodded my head. "Don't worry. Survival is more important than success. Anita will survive long enough for us to figure it out."

She nodded and stood up. She went and grabbed my cloak and handed it to me. "Stay warm. It's still cold out."

I put on my cloak. Then I grabbed my bag. "I'll be careful. I promise."

At this point there is nothing more to say. I left quietly pulling my hood down low.

I immediately activated my stealth skill, and left the temple. I paused at the entrance turning to look at one of the statues of the God Lumis.

For a guy thousands of years old, he is really beautiful. I pulled down my hood and approached the statue. Temporarily deactivating my Stealth.

I know I'm supposed to kneel to pray. I guess I have to, gotta do this right. "Hello God of light. Forgive me I don't really do this prayer thing a whole lot. Actually I really don't ever pray. Though just this once. I have to leave my Grandma here. I don't know exactly how long but if you could keep here safe I'll owe you one. Well, um, Amen?"

I awkwardly stood up pulling down my hood. I reactivated my Stealth. That felt weird.

With that I left the temple and left the city.
