Okay. I start by stopping my crazy act.
I need to pick a shop to got lost im. I look at all the shops carefully.
It needs to have space. Though the buildings in the slums are all so small. This not going to be easy.
I would just ask to use the restroom, but the employees are the only ones allowed to use them. Cause of well, sketchy people and drug addicts. I know two of these places were used as drug drops.
I enter the book store. It's probably my best bet.
The person behind the counter looks bored. A very old lady with wrinkles galore. She looks like she's frowned to much in her life.
She just stares at me without a word. All of the book cases are low. Almost to my waist.
Probably to prevent stealing. Though this means I won't be unseen.
I don't immediately exit though. I begin to act like I'm browsing.
I get on my knees. Acting like I'm looking at the bottom shelf.
I could do it but I would have to get lower. The employee would get too suspicious. It could cause a commotion. I can't guaranty a full minute.
I look around a bit longer. Honestly the books aren't bad. For books that are cheap they are in good condition with a decent variety of topics.
After a bit and wave at the store owner I take my leave. The old woman only silently glares at me. Probably mad I didn't buy anything.
Okay now let's try the clothes place.
I noticed that people are still giving me plenty of space. I really am eating my words. Harder to convince them I'm not crazy once they are convinced.
I don't enter the clothing shop cause I notice one unfortunate detail. They have a sale going on. After someone else walks in see how crowded it is inside.
Shit. Those two seemed like my best bet.
I stop and I think. I could come at night but it would be far too dangerous.
I look like a mid class citizen. I have to act crazy to be left alone here. That won't work as well at night.
It's not just my clothes. I'm a health weight. I'm clean. My clothes have minimal rips and tears.
I look around in a circle. I frowned. It will be fine if I leave now.
I stopped and stared at an alley along the street. It was pierced in unsavory looking shadows.
I don't actually know where the border is for the sign in location. Could it be? Is it inside the border?
I thought carefully. Do I really want to go into that alley? That dark alley? For an unknown potentially useless skill.
I walked forward having made my decision.
I do need to play it safe. I don't know what will happen when I die. However, I have no idea what the future holds.
I stepped slowly into the darkness of the alley. Keeping to the walls. Holding my breath and standing still. Braced and ready to test out my new speed.
I stare at the screen and finally it increases. 1,2,3,4, and so on.
I stare at it ready to book it of of the silent dark alley. Sweat starting to line my skin. 20,21,22,23, it goes on slowly.
I tried to breath as little and as quietly as possible. Sweat turning cold as air around me. 39,40,41,42,43,44, I'm almost there.
A minute has never been this long. Perhaps it has. I can't remember. 56,57,58,59,60 as soon as the quest complete screen pops up I book it. Not reading it.
Once I exit the alley I slow down surprised at my speed. Yeah that is something I have to work on controlling. Though what a wonderful feeling.
I don't stop for anything though wanting to get out of the slums quickly. I've had enough excitement for today.
Once I get the the outskirts of the slums I find a quiet street. I finally ready the screen.
'Quest complete. Reward skills Stealth and Acting has been acquired. It is set at level 1.'
Wait what. Two of them?
"Status Window please." I say unsure if it's true.

It's true. I really didn't expect to get two skills. I click on both.

Also as expected. I guess I got the second one cause I acted crazy. Though still managed to complete the quest.
So it registers if I do something extra.
Though now I wonder how I can level these up. Actually how do I even use these skills? I really haven't figured out a lot have I.
I let out a large sigh. It's been ten years since I've played a video game. I don't really remember. I close all the screens and head home.
I'll figure this all out with time.
