Meanwhile, Morpheus finally managed to reach her path where the phoenix was flying toward him, her mouth was letting out the destructive flames of hellfire.
"Ember," he called out, looking straight at her though there was so much distance between them. "You have to stop!" he commanded.
This time, her pupils, filled with fire, finally constricted as she recognized him. The bond between them didn't let him go unnoticed to her.
"Come to me. You have to stop," he called from a distance, his hands raised in her direction, asking her to come into his arms.
But to his shock, she changed her path all of a sudden and flew in a different direction. It was clear she recognized her mate and didn't wish to harm him, but at the same time, she couldn't stop from taking her revenge.
Morpheus smiled. "At least you recognized me even when you are not yourself. What more could I ever wish for? My mate values me, can't forget me."
